biggest yachts. >> it's sort of the american way. >> reporter: john and mark run an investment firm in connecticut. they oppose the idea of a wealth tax. >> it would be a total disaster. i'd actually like for them to promote it because they won't get elected that way. >> reporter: wealth redistribution is always popular amongst the masses that don't have the wealth and popular among the ones that do. >> reporter: you're acknowledging that there some unfairness here. >> sure. >> reporter: there is a lot of people with not much and a small fraction of people with a lot. >> right. i guess the alternative is do we need a socialist economy where everyone has the same? that doesn't make the same either. a lot of people who have a lot have earned it and made it. they started their own companies, they started businesses, they maybe had more opportunity but there are people who haven't doesn't that. >> a vote for a democrat in 2020 is a vote for the rise of radical socialism and the destruction of the american dream. >> reporter: the political fight will continue. >> i have nothing else to offer

meaningful form because throughout history comedy has been i think the strongest weapon in commenting on society and issues and dictators, kings and royalty. they hate being made fun of. and when people make jokes about them, it drives them bananas. >> reporter: adolf is young jojo's imaginary friend. >> who are you talking to? >> nobody. >> and he is a 10-year-old's vision of the furor, an awkward, socially inept hitler. >> cigarette? >> oh, no, thanks, i don't smoke. >> if you're wondering about his accent, he is from new zealand, a self-described polynesian jew. first off, you're not an obvious choice to play adolf hitler. >> no, i think there is definitely whiter people would could have done it. >> i think the first time i saw him in his hitler costume, it was jarring. >> scarlett johansson plays rosy, jojo's mother.

in the holocaust. did you have any reservations about doing a comedy about nazis? >> i never thought about that, the film as such. i think it's really a very triumphant story and such a valentine for single moms and independent women. >> johansson received a best supporting actress oscar nomination for her performance. best adapted screenplay, and "jojo rabbit" received four more nominations, including best picture. still, not everyone is comfortable with the film. what do you say to people who just flat-out say what's so funny about nazi germany? >> say have you looked a the uniforms? have you observed how ridiculous they were? sure, they had a lot of power and they were brutal and calculating and responsible for millions of deaths, but one way of taking power away from those people is to laugh at them and to make a mockery of them.

and recognized for what we were trying to do. >> and the film received some more recognition from another unexpected source. the showa foundation in conjunction with usc is teaching the film. >> yeah, yeah. they're using it as part of its education tools. now it's amazing. it feels like the story and the film is bigger than us now. >> before jojo and thor, he had smaller success with films like "hunt for the wilder people" and the vampire mocu-mentary "what we do in the shadows." surprisingly, he only began to make films in the '30s. >> i did a short film called "two cars, one night." >> the first film you did got nominated for an oscar? >> yeah. >> and now he is up for more. it's an honor for sure, but of course he will play it for laughs. >> i'm not going to wear anything. stupid awards. >> you don't think you're going to win anything? >> no one is even watching the

the san francisco bay, forget it. some visitors beat you to it a long time ago. and as john blackstone reports, the city hopes they never leave. >> it was 30 years ago this month that hundreds of smelly sea lions invaded. they've been calling this home ever since. >> big guys and little guys and surgically teenagers. >> and they can throw their weight around. >> oh, yes. and they do. >> sheila chandor had just started as harbor master. >> it was just a seething mass of sea lion noise.

>> reporter: and smell? >> and smell. oh, yeah. it was herring season. >> reporter: but the blubbery marine mammals quickly became an unlikely tourist attraction. have you done any estimate of how many tourists over 30 years now have come to see the sea lions? >> it's got to be in the millions. >> reporter: in appreciation for bringing in all the tourists, san francisco is celebrating the sea lions with 30 colorful sculptures going up around town rouss what's the reaction been to these so far? >> pretty great. >> these sea lions have been painted to deliver message thinking one has messages from all the pollutants and the chemicals that are in the ocean. >> they're beautiful and they're not noisy and they don't smell. >> correct. >> reporter: and they provide a photo opportunity for sea lion fans who can't get close enough to the real thing. there has also been a cake and a proclamation by the mayor. >> it will always be remembered as sea lion day in the city and county of san francisco. >> reporter: it's a lot of
