the 100s arrive tomorrow. today low 9 oz. tomorrow we get a few low 100s but tuesday and wednesday will be the peak of the heat, the two hot test days. i'll show you what's that looks like in the complete forecast coming up in a bit. for now there are today's numbers. 91 concord. 92 santa rosa. low to mid-70s in the city for san francisco at 73. the complete forecast in a bit. firefighters have been at pier 45 throughout the night. that is the sight of yesterday's warehouse fire. even now, a day, later, they are dumping water on what is left on the warehouse. flames broke out be da sarday a the fire started inside a warehouse about the size of a football field on the back end of pier 45. it was mostly used to store fishing gear and as a parking lot. nearby workers say what began as a small fire spread quickly

and in less nan five minutes, they say the whole buildings was in flames pouring black smoke into the early morning sky. there is no word on the cause of the fire this morning. one firefighter was hurt, but is okay. there is another silver lining. two fire boats helped save the ss jeremiah o'brien. that is a world war ii warship that is docked next to the warehouse where the fire started. many say it is amazing that firefighters were able too save that historic ship. kpix 5's kenny choi talked with the ship's captain. >> a behind me in the distance is the ss jeremiah o'brien. it is incredible how there is no damage to the ship tonight. the captain of the vessel showed us some new video showing how close the flames were to the ship. >> as firefighters kept a close eye on the smoldering mangled videhos afflames gutted and collapsed the nearby

warehouse. >> you're talking 35 feet from 1,000-degree fire. >> the ss jeremiah o'brien is in danger. >> firefighters dowsed the warehouse with water cannons from the fire boat. >> our aggressive and swift actions saved this historic jeremiah o'brien. >> they knew they couldn't save the pier structure but they knew they had to save the ship. >> more than 2700 were built during world war ii to deliver ammunitions and tanks. she survived and was used as having multiple trips during normandy. >> reporter: it was that close to being a lost piece of history. >> you see, entire steel girders bent over and that is 75 feet from the ship. >> if we're looking for one positive to come out of this

walnut creek. these are places that are five to seven degrees warrer. as we come back to the bearings there is oakland going to 79, just two degrees warmer than yesterday. that 90 in santa rosa comes in just about 11 degrees warmer than yesterday so some of us noticed today's warm up more than others. concord, the example. low 90s today. sunday 91. watch what happens. monday, tuesday and wednesday, those are your triple digit days. 78 the average. same comparison with san jose. not going into the 100s but 98. close enough. still have to take this seriously. oakland, we'll go to 90 in oakland on fuse. average daytime he is 68. san francisco numbers are 64. sounds kyle now, but 84 in san francisco is anything but cool. there is the seven-day forecast. these numbers have notched up a little higher than i had them

hong kong police fired tear gas at protesters. tensions are heating up over the national security law there. officers fired tear gas in a popular shopping district to stop protesters. the new legislation was held in beijing this week. the law has been sharply criticized by pro democracy sup poiser ters. protests have been largely absent due to the covid-19 outbreak, but they want them to march to protest china's decision. kim jong-un is set for new kim's comments stressed his intent to continue his plans for building and developing the military capabilities there. state media said he plans to put the country's on high

day. daytime highs today, there are the 90s we talked about. take a look inside the by. only going to 79 for oakland. 73 for san francisco. let me show you why. tomorrow, memorial day, is the day when we start the heat wave. now look at 100. that is for inland locations. we're going to barely from the low 90s today to several locations for in land spots making its up to 100 tomorrow. contra con sta county, concord, livermore. i'll go into more specific on that and the rest of this forecast coming up because monday is just the start. the excessive heat watch will cover most of the week. thousand is an important forecast. i'll have it in a bit. over to you. >> this morning firefighters are still spraying water on the scene of a massive fire near

fisherman's wharf. witnesses called 911 and got dramatic video. fire, smoke, and explosions. witnesses say this intense firefight started from maybe the exposion of a small propane tank at 4:15 in the morning. >> heard an explosion and then the fire bursted out of the building. >> i just heard a big, old bang and it was loud because of the echo. >> reporter: she had just arrived at work. she helped to evacuate other workers in nearby buildings. >> it was scary but i had to act fashion and make sure to call 911. >> reporter: it quickly spread. inlet than five minutes, thick, black smoke. >> huge shooting out of the roof. it was big and it was hot. it was really in my face. >> felt the heat. >> felt the heat, yes. >> it shot up to 100 feet into the sky. >> we're doing a surround and drown and getting this from all

workers at nearby buildings said homeless people often slept in the warehouse. ite could have been homeless folks being careless with making their breakfast. >> firefighters are not ready to say who or what caused the fire. it will be awhile until thigh can safely look in the building. one firefighter was injured and he is doing okay now. all 50 states have eased stay-at-home orders but there is concern that a second spik could follow. michael george has the latest. >> reporter: minnesota governor tim walls announced that churches in his state will open again on wednesday with restrictions. >> starting on may 27th it is a 25% occupancy, if na adhered to social distancing guidelines it

but we're in the low to mid- 50s. let's see where we're going to day, because today is a hot day, but not excessively hot. that starts tomorrow. i'll show you the difference. here is today first. temperatures in the upper 80s. farther inland, 93 for brent wad. we'll top out at 91 for concord and you can see the numbers showing up in the mid-80s for much of the north bay. 79 today. we will be into the low 90s for much of the north bay. monday when the heat takes a spike, monday is when the excessive heat watch starts. the coast is the only area not included. all day monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday, have to be mindful the heat will be strong enough to impact you in weighing that could have to

heat exhaustion or if you get to heat stroke, you stop sweating altogether and you get migraines. it is much works. if you get those symptoms, you need to get immediate medical attention. those are extreme cases. 90 today for livermore turns into 97 tomorrow. low 100s for tuesday and wednesday. i'm going to spotlight livermore apple san francisco. the range from one extreme to the other across the by. we'll make it into the low 100s inland. if you're wondering what this means for records, here are the latest tuesday. it is the locations that are inland that will be breaking them. let me show you numbers in red. they are going to break records. in san francisco and oakland you're not going to get there. it will be hot, but not record- setting hot.
