>> welcome back to mosaic. i'm your host, wonderful conversation executive director of juice of color. will come back. so, i wanted to know if we can talk a little bit about personal individual level, what is the spiritual jewish drive for us commonly to make jews of color and and spiritually nourished in our own jewish community among ourselves. >>a beautiful question.

maybe a personal story. which is that.g our jewish spiritual life. gives us tools to navigate life. for jews of color important we do not push jews of color away from jewish life we cannot access the tools of spiritual growth. spiritual nourishment. ll, i knew this colic was a wonderful colic. unaware of the situation that had happened. i said to myself, i will make sure talk with her before yom kippur. so that she has an opportunity to come back into a relationship over the incident that had happened. at that time i said to the rabbi. tools of and e prepg foyom kippur. i would not have been able to come back to and had this

good morning welcome back to mosaic, but like to a quibec belong company for of director of juice of color initiative. welcome back. >> we talk so much about initial vision and velocity. let's go over the members. >> in the united states. according to the data and the research. there are about 7.2 million jews in the u.s., that number comprises both adults and young people ages 18 and under. of that number, our study tells us at a minimum, 12 to 50% of that number are jewish people

of color. at the very minimum in the united states, 1 million of our 7 million juice or people of color. to provide it in a jewish context. when you're in a minyan when you open your eyes, one person of every minyan should be a person of color. let me add, overtime, and u.s., general population in the united states, every next generation of jews born in the united states will be increasingly people of color. more and more, each generation of jews in the was with people of color, community is becoming more and more people of color. just like national data, with the timing is not the same, data tells us someday. majority of u.s. jews will be people of color. this is not just a theoretical intellectual opportunity to grapple social diversity and racism. u.s.jewish community is multira and to sure connted and strongits

famili haveted somebodyhave families, ere they might be jewish adjacent. families that might be generally she jewish . each one of these different sessions of jewish family include people of color. we have families and u.s. people of color who are african- american, multiracial meaning both parents are african- american. judaism goes back generation after generation. in the u.s. we have some families they became a july choice in the last few years. they are focused observant jewish life. families just like the rest of the jewish community. identify as strongly jewish and do-nothing religious. nothing in their spiritual life. a very jewish identity might be cultural. might be based on different kinds of practices t religiplace.

the same way people come into jewish rights across the jewish community and ways. you see it mirrors among jewish people of color. the one caveat want to put in there, when jewish, jews a color or spaces they are challenged with judaism based on identity or how they perceive our identity. there opted jews of color tremendous amount, jews of color are observant. jews of color committed and focused in the jewish community sometimes we do not with the general jewish committee. believe it or not come to the end of our time together. i want to ask you a big question in the moment which is. where you want us to be in 10 years. >> where what is to be, i want us to comfortably understand the cells of multiracial. i want us to comfortably embrace the idea that we look in a jewish face wishes to people of , i would just
