ahead for that, and good luck. as far as the forecast is concerned we start with the air- quality. i will stress there are two different ways to think about the air quality report. there is what is it outside of your door right now at this moment. and then there is what is the forecast for today in general. the quality report i will give you right now is important if you are getting ready to step out the door right now. this is at 6:00 in the morning, specifically in the south bay or on the peninsula. we have one trouble spot at san mateo with the air-quality reading unhealthy. not to say is good in the south bay. you still have unhealthy air for this is the groups as we do in the far east bay and the same thing at concord, walnut creek, oakland, berkeley, san leandro and san francisco. this means this is unhealthy for the sensitive groups. this is the condition where you
6:47 am
step outside and you say it smells like a campfire. when you experience that you are breathing in the smoke, more than you really want to. south marin county one of the better spots and we've seen this in the last several days with more help in the morning and in the afternoon the air- quality goes downhill. here is the more important take away. this is the journalized forecast everything everything out for the rain the rest of the day will go. it's either flat-out unhealthy or unhealthy for the sensitive groups. either one is more than you want to breathe in, especially on day seven of this stuff. as far as the other things in our sky, the marine layer with the golden gate bridge socked in but overhead oakland as well. here's a good view of the east bay. san jose has some of this as well but you have a lot of smoke which is a mix of both. the view eastward into the tri- valley has a lot of smoke in the skies. there is some humidity from the marine layer.
6:48 am
as far as temperatures around 60 at most locations. we take the marine layer that is pretty widespread right now, a good sign that we are getting help with temperatures and humidity. it is helping in the fight on the fires. by late morning clouds have burned back to the coast other than one sliver which continues to filter in through the golden gate throughout the afternoon. this is a good sign which is typical for late august. is better to have it now the not to keep the humidity in the air. yesterday we take a few degrees off of that, but not a major change with low to mid 80s in the south bay. upper 80s in the far inland east bay with pleasant hill at 88 with dublin at 87, in walnut creek at the same number. 72 in oakland, 70 in richmond and 80 at petaluma. your long-range forecast, 6 to 10 days has a red bull's-eye
6:49 am
over the midwest. we have a warm up coming in your 7-day forecast with mid- 90s for the daytime highs for much of this seven day. >> i know air-quality is still bad but by comparison there were days last week that the hillside cannot be seen, disappearing behind the smoke and dirty air. >> thankfully the fire behavior is better. but if you look you can see enough smoke coming off and we cannot turn this off yet. the lnu lightning complex fire swept across the north bay and in vacaville one couple all special items in that blaze including over one dozen classic cars. >> a 1956 chevy nomad was a project i was working on. a 1957 chevy coupe that i drove quite often. you can replace the cars if you wanted to but the personalize items are the ones that really hurt.
