the mounds. the heatwave will start tomorrow. for saturday as you get ready to step outside here's what it looks like with your you from the talk of the top of the salesforce tower's, temperatures sitting where there are typically this time of the day. the difference is we have no marine layer as we wake up with your skies. you can step outside and you could see the stars a little while ago but the sun is coming up. daytime has today with a lot of 90 so we will be warm. san jose at 84 and it feels warm but it's not that heat coming our way for tomorrow. let's take a look at that to get into the details on where we will be standing. i the time we get to monday when that heat wave will peak, take a look at where the forecast had is with livermore and concord at 103.

let me bring in the same engines on the imaging you will see quite a difference with the numbers. on the right we are close with livermore at 103 and a record of 105. san jose will hit 96 on monday, 3 degrees shy of a record of 99. san francisco 889 on monday. we are not breaking records but we are close enough monday is the peak but sunday we will feel it as i show you an increase in the 7-day forecast. that covers issue number one but we have a heat wave coming our way. you are used to looking at a map like this by now with everywhere we are in red which is a red flag warning. that fine print says saturday from 9:00 a.m. through monday morning at 8:00 a.m. to show you what the wind will be like and why that is probably the number one factor we will played this teacher cast forward. watch these colors light up tonight in the north bay and

along the coast. but nobody else notices this. it's not a wind event for the bay area but as a whole it is a wind event in the mountains see those colors lit up over the top , gusting up to 30. now take a look overnight sunday into monday morning. we have gusts in the 30 mile an hour range for much of the north bay but specifically it is the north bay mountains and east bay hills were we find the concerns. the other item to take into consideration is how dry the air's about to get. look at where the relative humidity is, a normal-looking mat with a lot of green and relative humidity with 50s and 60s. now i advanced this and watch how low the numbers go by sunday morning. we are in the teens which is the driving factor behind all this. the field, the trees, grasses and twigs and the mountains are drying up as it is that they

start to dry out even more which is where we get into some problems. daytime highs today, and remember today has really no issues on it. we are kind of warm and sunny but that's about it. daytime highs in the mid 80s in the south bay and low 90s for much of the east bay. we solved these numbers in general at the top of the forecast but here is richmond at 74. your 7-day forecast, notice the change from today into sunday. sunday the heatwave turns on and monday is when it peaks before gradually gets better into much of next week. it's not like we will turn this heat wave all off as fast as we turn it on. >> on the calendar says fall, but who is going to tell the weather question mark is that your job? >> yeah, and that is the challenge but it will not feel like fall-like. it will feel like more of an intense heat wave for the middle of summer over the next

weather beginning tonight in the mounds with a heat wave beginning tomorrow. here's what saturday morning looks like a top from the salesforce tower with 60 degrees at most locations. santa rosa is a warmer at 63. looking at the temperatures across the bay area low 90s inland. don't get me wrong, today is warm, but it's not that heat that we should all start to get prepared for. that will set in tomorrow. the number of 102 today, around 100 tomorrow. i will be back in a couple of minutes with much more detail. pg&e is keeping an eye on the weather forecast to made the cut off power to thousands of customers just under 200 residents in napa could be effective if the potential public shut off hits 19,000 in southern california. earlier this month pg&e shut off power to over 165 thousand

will pass the gauntlet of the test under way in your glass. don ford, kpix 5. let's get into the top headline in the forecast which is how different sunday will feel from today. i will show you the comparison on how much the temperatures will jump from saturday to sunday. first-tier saturday. the daytime highs are maybe a little warmer than you remember yesterday, but you will notice a significant difference with the numbers on saturday, near 90 in concord and mid 80s for much of the bay, and mid 80s in now i change the numbers from saturday into sunday but instead of sharing the daytime highs, i want you to see the difference. in other words, see how much warmer the temperatures will be sunday than saturday, now you see the big jump. san francisco s 15 degrees warmer sunday isco than it is saturday, 10 degrees warmer inland. every location with the exception of fairfield will feel a significant difference

for the second half of the weekend from the first half. to show you where the numbers end up as a result on sunday, low hundreds inland and near 90 at some locations with 100 to in santa rosa. monday is the top of the heatwave with a little bit hotter numbers but sunday will hit you in the face and you will do a complete turnaround. that covers the warm i will ow yyour seven-day coming up in a bit. the warm up was issue number one but issue number two is the fire weather concern with the warning at 9:00 tonight and not expiring until monday morning until 8:00 a.m. this is when we have the big warm up with everywhere in the red a big red flag warning for the fire weather concerns. in terms of how the weather will feel for you this weekend it means very little, but this is a huge concern in the mountains above 1000 feet where the wind will really pick up. here's sunday morning in the heart of the red flag warning. you can see bright colors

oriented along the mountain range and at mount santa elena 30 miles an hour wind gusting out of the north but everybody else will barely notice anything. it will get breezy where we all live and that's most noticeably sunday morning into the late morning hours sunday into the early afternoon. you will notice it a bit breezy but the reason we have the red flag warning is not because of that. it is because of the 40 to 50 mile an hour gusts into the mountains sunday into monday morning. there's also how much the air will dry out. looking at it from the relative humidity standpoint you can really see a difference in the numbers. right now relative humidity in the 50s, 60s and 70s and most places with a lot of green on the map saturday morning. that's good but look how drastically the numbers are different from the heart of the red flag warning. instead umbrella t relative

humidity in the 50s, 60s and 70s but in the teens which is behind the factor of the red flag warning as it dries out the vegetation. depending on how the fire behaves we could see more smoke coming our way that we have more information on that as we get closer to it. if we see more smoke that will focus on monday which is the peak of the heatwave and we could have air quality concerns. that has two reasons to stay in the air conditioning on that day. >> th by itsf but the wind and its impact on the pg&e equipment. >> exactly. that is the follow-through, what sparks the fires. the other concern is that even if pg&e wiring does not have a faulty problem that sparks of fire, anything else that does start a fire under conditions like that is just as big of a concern. and we have 40 miles an hour gusts to dry out that
