i'm anne marie green. of course we are going to start this morning on the campaign trail with just eight days left. the coronavirus remains the biggest issue. over the weekend, over 228,000 cases were reported in the u.s. according to johns hopkins university. records were set on friday and saturday with 83,000 each day. five aids to vice president mike pence tested positive for the virus including his chief of staff and political advisor. pence, who has tested negative, plans to campaign for president trump this week. nancy, how are the candidates spending these final days on the trail? >> good morning. president trump will head to pennsylvania and joe biden will stay in delaware before traveling to georgia as we enter the final full week until election day. >> with with a week and a day to go, neither side is taking

to an outdoor area where you can still fulfill your civic duty and vote. reporting from los angeles. the fbi is investigating what appears to be a deliberate fire set in a boston ballot drop box. massachusetts election officials say the fire was started early yesterday morning in a drop box outside the boston public library downtown. there were 122 ballots inside the box when it was emptied. 87 were still legible and able to be processed. police release images of the person near the box at the time. people can either vote in person or by a replacement ballot that will be mailed to them. a snowstorm is slowing the spread of a colorado fire fire. officials say it won't be enough to put the fire out. the east trouble some fire has destroyed some 300 scare miles.

swimming with a large school of salmon. swimmers were unaware that a shark was close by feeding. one swimmer came very close to a shark. the shark is suspected to be gray nurses. more than a dozen swimmers were seen taking a dip that morning. back at home, the first nest of wind hornets were found. and high wind threats in california. the san francisco chronicle reports heavy winds force pacific gas and electric to cut power to reduce the risk of wildfires. yesterday, the nation's largest utility began shutting off the electricity to down the chance of downed power lines more than 1 million people could end up in the park today during what officials say could be the strongest wind event in
