a momentous day. the vaccines are on their way to distribution centers across the country. how soon can we get the shot clock >> a preseason warriors game. what was it like to play without fans quack >> we are adding in the crowd noise. trying to create the atmosphere for those players. >> if you aren't hearing the rain, you aren't alone. there is a good bit of stretch of rain.

we need to talk about the king tides and a coastal flood advisory. it is sunday, december 13th i am devon. emily has the morning off. let's check with our weather with erin pack. i want you to see these heavy bands of rain living in right across the heart of the day. we watched this pickup earlier. about an hour or two earlier. the north bay is already seeing those. but as you look across the bay, you can see a good band of rain coming in. the showers have even made their way further south. we are seeing symptoms of heavy rain down here. and if we follow the across the bay. working up to san leandro. the rain is coming down. this is all going to move down to the southeast.

it's going to be a rainy morning but we are going to film the showers as we go on here. and copy will go into more detail on how this plays out when we checked back in and just a few minutes. the first trucks carrying the coronavirus vaccine have ruled out of a michigan manufacturing plants. they are ready to be loaded onto these planes. this could be delivering those vaccines. the company say that some of those shipments could reach that at the top of the list could be getting shocked as early as tomorrow. just around 300 28,000. california is confirming more than 35,000 coast cases in the

last day. 224 more deaths. those people have been tested came back positive. this morning, more than 13,000 patients in the hospital. right now there are just 1400 beds. available statewide. remaining capacity hovering just above 17%. southern california is way worse. the absolute worst is the san joaquin valley which has run out of those beds completely. they area hospitals are anxiously waiting for the shipments of the vaccine. kenny has the latest. >> every truck carrying vials of the vaccine will have a device that's for patients. light exposure and motion. >> distribution has begun.

let's take another lie look at michigan. in the last 30 minutes the vaccine rolled out of the manufacturing plan. they have been set in motion the biggest vaccination effort. it is expected to begin

let's just start looking at this last hour. you can see how quickly this has worked its way down. a matter of minutes here before downtown san jose start to notice the heavy bands of rain picking up. you are right on the leading edge of this. he will also obviously noticed the heavier bands. you can start hearing the rain on the roof. he started already about 45 minutes to an hour. we will do the same thing here is a pullout for the why do there is little more as we take that drive east on 580 and you can see the leading edge of that rain. you are just about to start noticing that. san ramon you got that about 20 minutes ago. a good early start to the rain.

here is our perspective when we look at this on a wider view. this is where you'll find the most impressive rain. this is what you can track why we keep replacing this. we are already getting breaks in the north bay. that doesn't mean you're done for the rest of the day. as a watch in futurecast, that is our cold front. watch what happened throughout the day. showers developing on the backside. there will be plenty of breaks today where it's not raining. we can get out and not be rained on. but there's always the possibility at any moment one of these stray showers can redevelop and you get the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm. rainfall totals look pretty good. we will pick up perhaps as much as a quarter of an inch and a half a brain depending on what part of the bay we are talking

about. this is early saturday with the last way. daytime highs into the lower 60s. if you look outside it is damp and the temperatures are well behaved. there is a coastal flood advisory. not only because the surf is high but we are going to see the highest tides the king tides of the season so far. and this morning, they will be behind at the start lapping up along the embarcadero. and even those lower lying intersections to the bay. the next chance of rain gets on thursday. doesn't look super impressive with a chance of a few light showers by the time we get there. back to you. stomach let's go ahead and get into the bay area bright spot. we had a wonderful time showing off what the lights look like. this one coming to us is money is a perfect example of what you want us to share.

welcome back. thank you so much for joining us. starting with a weather. with the meteorologist here. >> we watched his band of rain moving pretty quickly across the bay area. if you're hearing the rain on your roof, you aren't alone. just that everybody has gotten it so far. it's already clearing out of the north bay. as they come in for a close-up look you can follow a 80, two 8101 all the way around into the south bay. all that has had rain on it. you are seeing some of the best right now is ome of those brighter bins of orange. as they come back down, into san jose at the bottom of the screen, though showers are all

continuing to march away. so, down through the part of san jose you will notice the intensity of the rain picking up. and over in the tri-valley, certainly have your share of it now. going out on 580 or going north on 680. this is kind of the highlight of the strange. we will track what happens next in more detail. and the complete forecast. there is more rain coming into the afternoon. why this is coming up in the complete forecast. >> breaking news right now. the first trucks carrying the coronavirus vaccine have rolled out from a manufacturing plant. they are moving boxes and expected to arrive on monday. tomorrow an even larger shipment is planned with 390,000 miles. manwell reports on the massive

logistical operation to get that vaccine to more than 600 sites across the country. >> the fda commissioner denied that there was political pressure to grant the emergency authorization for the vaccine. said that the process has been clear. >> this should help ensure the public that they met the rigorous standards for efficacy. >> friendly medical workers will get the first of the two required doses but getting it there is a delicate process. they must be stored and ultracold freezers shipping giants fedex bush split those deliveries. with ups handling the east and fedex handling the last. >> it is a good effort. >> bear the highest priority. if anything that we are carrying in our system. >> the vaccine's approval is a first for the united states.

major spike. they said the trouble spots and explains why the pandemic may be partly to blame. >> oakland is a tale of two cities. the heart of oakland car to my right. this is all the way up to the hills. there are 12 homicides. to my left, is oakland, 88 homicides. the farther east you go, the more shootings and killings. 21 people were murdered and 93 people were injured in shootings. from 66th avenue and 24 deaths and 91 injuries. then you get to east oakland from the colosseum to the border. this is where most of the homicides occurred. 43 people were killed and 172 people are shot. out of the 100 murders this year six victims were minors.

issue in american history. last year they showed images of children in cages reflecting on the plight of immigrants and asylum-seekers whose families were separated at the mexico border. in the statement about this years display the church as senior minister says mary notes a star of any parent is ever lost a child and she stands in solidarity with all of those to justice. church leaders say that they hope the display doesn't anger people but empower them to have a meaningful conversation with her family and friends. moving forward towards positive change. reporting claremont. >> still to come a new take on the works of van gogh is coming to san francisco. we will get a preview of how it feels to walk in the digitally enhanced exhibit

with the pfizer vaccine shipping out, governors will have the final say in who gets it first. on friday we spoke with margaret bannon. >> when the federal government makes that delivery and helps them to make that delivery it's

really up to the states and the governors to make sure that this gets to their constituents. the federal government is making recommendations but it's up to the governors to decide the details on to classify these details. so, this is one of the topics that i think we will be closely watching over the weeks to come. >> you can see face the nation later this morning, the artist coming to life in san francisco next year the so-called immerse of van gogh exhibit will open in march at the last venue. the digital experiences inviting audiences inside of that iconic works. we spoke with the producer of the immersive exhibit about what they can expect. >> what you are seeing is the pieces, first of all, expanded as well. now we are going to see brushstrokes. there are those speckles, the

movement of the brush in the technique as to how we do. you can just see that they will be arrested and taken away. now you are seeing it on a large scale. then, they already deconstructed these pieces here. they disappeared. they've faded. then it really becomes this stream across this. it's quite emotional and moving. it's a complete departure from how you've likely seen in the past. and, it really is just fabulous. we had licensed 400 images of van gogh's art from museums around the world. so, you are going to see all of the pieces that you've ever heard of. so, all those leaders sunflowers, but it's not about

necessarily about seeing all the pieces as much as seeing how the pieces are reinterpreted, how they match up with the architecture and the venue. >> organizers say the exhibit will also feature social distancing markers capacity limits and temperature checks on arrival. >> that looks so cool. so, let's get into the forecast. with some of the best rain all day happening right now. this is the cold front. it's the main part of the store that brings the best organized rain across the entire bay area. so, let's track that really well. because, it started in the north bay about four hours ago and it's all that went to the south bay. it moved fast. let's get out of the way. you can see where the heavy rain is. they have been seeing some of the heaviest rain. as you take that drive and you're working your way up over toward 680, that's what we are seeing the best of the rain. the showers have made it into san jose easily.

this is some of the best rain that san jose could see all day. holding together. and that is measurable rain. not necessarily heavy rain. it's some of the best that you will see. pretty moderate to light rain. over here, good rain as well. showing you in for a closer look from those communities from san ramon down to dublin over towards livermore. that is pretty steady rain. let's come out for the wide view. take a look at that line. all this across the bay area. putting in the futurecast intake that line. as we get into the late morning and early afternoon we are going to get some breaks. they're going to be plenty of times we can get outside without getting rained on. the caveat is, it could rain at any point. here's an example of what i mean by that. we see the showers redevelop. this is a second front that

will come through. it's going to be able to spark off a few isolated thunderstorms. it shouldn't be too widespread. don't be surprised that second phase of the rain today if you hear a rumble of thunder off in the distance. here you get some brief periods of smaller hail. by sunset it is done. we should be finished with all this. and if you look at the rainfall totals for today copies are pretty good numbers. this half inch of rain on average. san jose could pick up a quarter of an inch of rain. livermore 1300 inch of rain. you're probably going to get that within the next 20 minutes. that number could come in a little bit higher. and for daytime highs, it is lower 60s. that tells you, we will get breaks and sunshine. it should be a pretty warm day. if you like hard watching and clean crisp days where the atmosphere clears out. but this will be one of those. and if you're getting ready to

step outside, it is damp. look at all those reporting stations. we already know this from looking at the high death doppler. coastal flood advisory not only because of high surf coming off of the coastline this is also a concern for this type. high tides today king tides as we get to the next three mornings. this is 9:30 a.m. and then, at 11:00 a.m. there is water lapping up along the sidewalks in the embarcadero or maybe some of the lower lying intersections. no chance of rain shows up by the time we get to thursday. mainly focus on the north bay. not the most impressive one but we will have more on the approach of that next answering as you get closer to it. >> you know sometimes you see those characters that have the storm cloud right over there head. i feel like that was me getting
