good evening and thank you for joining us for this special edition of kpix i' juliet goodrich. there are big concerns about bay area burn scars, especially in the santa cruz mountains where evacuation warnings were issued about two hours ago. katie nelson is in one neighborhood where people are being advised to pack their bags now. oroland the abt th but before i get there, it is raining out there now. high death doppler shows you the last of the showers from the sunday rainmaker, we can

highlight where it is now. it is still raining in the east bay and in the south bay with the future cast shows us that is going to clear out over the next few hours and we're pretty much effectively going to be done with this by the time we get into the overnight. i want to jump ahead to the main event. tuesday night through wednesday morning. that is the window when we are going to see the heaviest rain and the strongest wind from this most impressive storm of this season so far and i just want to give you a little preview of why i would say that i what this looks like. we are going to play the future cast forward. this is wednesday morning in the early predawn hours. see this really organized line of red, orange and yellow. this is an intense band of rain that is going to march across the entire bay area at some point in the overnight hours tuesday night through wednesday morning. we don't want to get too hung up on the exact timing just yet because it will likely shift but what has become much clearer over the last 24 hours and looking at this storm, this is going to be the most

impressive point in time. that line comes with some very heavy downpours, some very intense winds, it will be a factor for all of us where we live, but it will be perhaps an even bigger issue on those burn scars and that's why katie nelson is live this evening. she is down in the santa cruz mountains not far from the burn scar. what are people doing down there to get ready for this? >> reporter: darren, we are here on fenton drive or i'm sorry on laurel drive, which is in fenton right outside of scotts valley. now, this is one of the areas that is under that evacuation warning and if you actually walked down the road, it's not very obvious why, you know, the fire did nobu inthis hbe end road is a creek. and uphill from that, that is where the burn scar is and so that's why this neighborhood is in danger. if there is a debris flow.

>> nervous. these debris flows can be really, really bad. >> reporter: according to cal fire, the storm expected to hit this area on tuesday is going to bring enough rain in a short amount of time to trigger dangerous mudslides and debris flows. >> the potential is very high and we are taking it very seriously. in the faith of those in evacuation zones it is critical to leave and if and when they are asked to do so. >> by the time it starts raining about intensity, it is already too late. >> reporter: he says they are trying to get people plenty of warning to prevent a similar situation to what happened during the montecito mudslides and debris flows in
