i am --. >> we have a lot to get to this morning. let's take a look outside. the atmospheric river causing havoc overnight. the threat of landslides in this summer's burn zone causing many residents to evacuate their homes. >> we has been extensive team coverage through the morning. billy turner is live in the north bay. first let's get right to the meteorologist aberrantly with our current conditions. >> i want to show you high definition doppler . we have been seeing and tends rainfall rates with the atmospheric river as well as windy conditions.

you can see through morgan hill into gilroy looking at that heavy rain at this hour. as we look to the east debate and the tri-valley looking at scattered showers with light to moderate rain with some brief heavy downpours. you can see still looking at the wet weather. we are also dealing with storm reports. these are hours storm reports within the last three hours of wind damage as well as flash flooding. we are watching this closely. we have a flash flood watch that remains in effect through thursday afternoon. that is for the east bay hills and the santa cruz mountains. that flash flood watch for the north bay has been canceled. we are still looking with the heavy rain we saw overnight mudslides, rockslides as well. the high wind warning that is still in effect for san francisco as well as for the coast until 7:00 a.m. today and a wind advisory that is in effect for the rest of the bay area. we have seen wind gusts especially up at our mountain

peaks up to 80 miles per hour. through the day we will see some off and on showers with the breezy conditions generally in the mid-50s. taking you hour by hour you can see the scattered activity as we head through the day. that is will look at whether. let's check in with the gianna for a look at traffic. >> the store mr. ending possible mudslides. we are live at the command post this morning with the latest on all of those evacuations. >> reporter: let me take over for gianna on the roadway report. there are a lot of spots on the highways that all of a sudden have come upon some flooding. luckily the weather is very calm.

the winds have died down. there is no rain falling right now but we are still looking at those evacuations in place. these people will not be able to come back to their homes in the santa cruz mountains until later today. these conditions will be monitored throughout the day. we are talking 5000 people in the santa cruz mountains under these evacuation orders. this is video of some of the rain that was falling overnight in the mountains and also in san jose. it was really coming down at times. with the threat of mudslides and debris flow in some of these areas that were burned last year, cal fire says the heaviest rain, once it comes through, will be too dangerous to try to rescue anybody who did choose to stay. >> we would need to wait for the rainfall rates to come down. >> experts from the national weather service in santa cruz county working in the command center with the sheriffs

department and cal fire. emergency crews can go back into these evacuated neighborhoods to try to assess any possible damage and allow people into their homes. again that will not happen until later today. we need the sun to come out so we can see how much the earth did or did not move overnight with all of the moisture. now, to the north the bay where we are seeing damage getting reports of trees and power lines down. emily turner is live with more on this. >> reporter: i am at the rancho verde mobile park. a tree came down last night leaving some pretty significant damage. basically this mobile home has been red tagged. around 9:00 p.m. last night the storm was picking up. that is when a 100 foot tree came crashing down right onto the mobile home crushing it. to people were home.

apparently one woman was inside in bed and the tree came crashing through the roof and it was feet away. nobody was injured luckily but the home has been red tagged due to major damage. fire officials say they still dodged a bullet. >> we definitely don't want to let our guard down. we anticipate we will get isolated showers over the next day or so and it could bring significant rainfall. although we essentially weathered the storm pretty well we are not going to let our guard down. we need our community to remain vigilant and continue to be prepared. >> in total thanks to all the wind, rain and trees down there are about 10,000 people down without power in the north bay. it has been a pretty wild night as far as the weather is concerned. that is proof of what can happen in just

minutes. taking a live look at the bay bridge where all lanes have reopened after a jackknifed big rick accident. this was the scene last night. take a look shortly before 10:00 at the treasure island offramp. be strong winds are to blame. the truck leaked fuel and with the amount of rain the cleanup became a challenge causing serious traffic delays. no word on injuries. let's get over to gianna with an update on those roads this morning. >> surfaces we are still dealing with and wet weather as well. of course you saw the brake lights at the bay bridge. we do have some access report. we will start off with a trouble spot at 580 involving a

jackknifed big rig. we have some backups building eastbound at 580 pick another trouble spot 580 at the dublin interchange. over to the south bay where we are getting a lot of wet weather. we have a couple of hotspots in regards to flooding. if you are working your way toward 101 amsouth 680 from 101 southbound is blocked due to a jackknifed truck as well. you have the exit ramp in the connector blocked until further notice. also, some flooding reported. in both directions of 280 we have some pretty significant flooding as well as in winchester road. trouble spots in the north bay, i will have that in the next report. hours storm watch continues now. a flash flood warning is in place for san mateo county. overnight flood advisories were issued for napa and sonoma counties. there are more than 40 with the pg and e customers without

electricity. nearly 10,000 are affected in the north bay and 8500 and a south bay. in santa rosa fire crews were on scene after powerlines were knocked out. >> live in san jose this morning. crews are keeping a close eye on the guadalupe river. officials say residents should be prepared to evacuate if floodwaters rise. if evacuations are called residents should had to the evacuation location at camden community center on union avenue in south san jose. it opened up at midnight in preparation . medley whether creating a mess in marin county. the sheriffs department tweeted this photo of a large tree that fell on top of a car as you can see. this happened at about nine :00. still ahead on kpix 5 , also streaming on cbs and bay

look to the east bay in tri- valley looking at light to moderate rain that is scattered activity to discovery bay and san ramon and dublin and livermore. also for comport concorde. it is just north of the coast. we have several reports of wind damage as well as flash flooding. this is within the last three hours looking at the flash flood report in santa cruz county and the boulder creek area with standing water on the bridge. we are looking at a flash flood report. san mateo county looking at the caltrans temporarily shut down. wind damage in sonoma county

and a large tree blocking both lanes. we are still monitoring the situation out that they are as we are looking at unsettled weather as we head through the day. looking at the temperatures in the 40s and low 50s at this hour and again catching some wet weather in oakland and for livermore. we do have a flash flood watch for the east bay hills in the santa cruz mountains looking at some mudslides we have already seen because of this intense rainfall. still the flash flood watch in effect through thursday afternoon. a high wind warning in effect for 7:00 a.m. for san francisco as well as the entire coast. we have seen gusts up to 70-80 miles per hour in the mountains overnight. we have a wind advisory for the rest of the bay area. still

dealing with some strong winds. currently looking at sustained winds at 15 at sfo, 10 in oakland, livermore. 16 in san jose. looking at on-and-off showers. we could see some sun breaks with breezy conditions. temperatures mainly in the 50s. the strong winter storm that has pushed through last night and overnight. as we take you hour by hour here we are at 8:00 a.m. you can see the scattered activity. the heaviest rain is over but we are looking at some wet weather. as we look through 4:00 p.m. you can see some shower activity lighting up our radar screen. have another wave pushing through. we are still looking at the instability and unsettled weather today into tomorrow. looking at breezy conditions as we head through the day on future cast. sunset is at 5:28.

checking daytime highs 58 in san jose. g7 for santa clara. 57 for concorde. 57 for san francisco and oakland. low to mid 50s for the northbay. there you go with the extended forecast. we are looking at some more showers coming our way wednesday and thursday. if you showers possible friday and into the weekend and another weather system for next week. that is a look at your weather. let's take a look at traffic. we have reports of wind damage and flash flooding as well. we have a lot of accidents because of the wet roadways. we have brake lights building on 580 eastbound right through castro valley. this is due to a jackknifed big rig. it has been on commute direction. three lanes are blocked until further notice. other trouble spots in the tri- valley have a couple of crashes along 680. this is a rolled over vehicle. chp and emergency crews are

seen there. one lane is blocked trying to get onto northbound 680. jumping to the south bay this is an area we are seeing significant wet weather. we have some crashes also starting along 680 southbound connected to southbound 101. we checked in with chp. a jackknifed big rig has this area blocked off. they have issued a traffic alert. flooding is in the area as well. 101 northbound around story road. we are getting reports of flooding along 280 north winchester road. be extra careful. try to use an alternate or of what that if you can. write this for civic center drive look for a crash over the shoulder. not too far. there is flooding also reported in north 101. there are restrictions in the

bodega bay along the coast. just offshore of the northcoast looking at a lightning strike. we have several storm reports because of the wind and heavy rain. we are getting a look at some of the damage caused by the storms overnight. here is a video at of palo alto. you can see some of the strong winds. crews are working to clear it all out. >> the oakland fire department swift water team is ready for any potential rescues. they spent the evening getting ready and checking their guilt. they say a truly successful day would be one with no calls. that is because everyone listens to the warnings. >> you are not replaceable. things are replaceable. homes are. if they ask you to evacuate so you are free and clear of the area that is in potential danger that is the best thing you can do. if you do have flooding in your area you can find a list of where to get free sandbags by heading to

they won 7-3 the third time this season the sharks have 5 or more goals. college basketball above usf and santa clara. they pushed the pause button on this season due to covid-19. both teams the broncos and the dodgers have postponed the next three games. >> the cardinals will be returning to play at maple pavilion. they have been playing home games in santa cruz. we hope to hear very soon that the san jose sharks will be returning to the shark tank. that is the latest and a wet morning in sports.
