6:47 am
line of showers, it comes straight for us but then it gets deflected on monday. even miss out on the rain as it goes the other way, gets pushed out into the pacific but what happens is eventually it will come into southern california but it is not for us. we could have used it because this being the last day of february, the amount of rainfall we have gotten so far is month at just under 1 inch and three quarters is less than 40% of what we have gotten. falls in line with where we are since october falls in line with where we are since october 1 as a whole. that is how we measure the water, we start on october 1 and february matches the total so that's not the best news. thankfully as we get into the first week of march, friday, saturday, a small chance of rain. not a lot but it starts the process. and looking out pass that into the second week of march perhaps we can be more hopeful the storm track will return and
6:48 am
we will see more opportunities for rain. for many students graduating at the top of their high school class and then getting into their dream college as their top goal but for this week's students rising above scholar, success means helping her family and community first. >>reporter: uc berkeley's regents scholar kayla.>> welcome all graduates and families to the lps class of 2020.>> her virtual speech not met with the typical applause that an in-person graduation crowd would bring.>> sorry kayla the makeup room is a glamorous>> and her first tv interview is unconventional as well but just like many of the other changes, kayla the 18- year-old richmond resident, takes it in stride. kayla's outlook is an inspiration, her success a credit to her mom.>> i am
