coronavirus relief plan. it now returns to the house where it is expected to pass on tuesday. it includes stimulus payments of $1400 for americans who makes $75,000 or less. it extends enhanced unemployment benefits of $300 per week through early september. chuck schumer expects the bill to pass in its current form >> nobody said passing one of the largest and perhaps most significant bill to help the poor and working people would be easy. it is done. and i said from the beginning, we were going to power through. we are not going to let anything stop us. >> president biden spoke at the white house after the vote. >> i can say that we have taken one more jargon step for

activists were beaten as they peacefully marched in selma for voting rights in 1965. police are looking for the person responsible for a deadly shooting last night. it happened on alvin avenue and east san jose south of tele road. investigators were on scene looking for clues. this is the eighth homicide of the year. another weekend and another rowdy sideshow. this was near the west oakland bart station. we spoke to witnesses who say that officers were watching the large sideshow from 1000 feet away. >> reporter: witnesses say the drivers took over the intersection for about 30 minutes. aside from the spectators, they were putting on a show for the two officers watching.

weekends. at least three people have been shot at recent sideshows after they ended in gunfire. we reached out late saturday night to ask about their strategy, but did not immediately get a response. kpix 5 steak officers said they were upping sideshow enforcement this weekend. they can impound cars for up to 30 days. authorities in southern california may have new leads as they search for two missing brothers in bakersfield. they have been missing since late december. on saturday, a group of 50 fbi agents and officers went to a field the volunteers had already examined. they are not saying what prompted the latest search >> it will be through the investigative process and it is

chicago is worried about losing ground. >> if testing continues to decline, we will not know if cases are starting to increase. we need to sustain what we are doing now and continue to vaccinate like mad. this is not a time to let up. >> reporter: governor gavin newsom announced that stadiums and theme parks can reopen with limited capacity starting on april 1st. cbs news, los angeles. eric swalwell will be in california visiting a community vaccination site. he announced he will be suing former president trump over the capital health, health seats. an ambitious goal for its schools with full immunity for its educational community by the middle of next month. we were there as they took a big step toward accomplishing

that feet. >> reporter: it is one of four super pods that the county is holding to inoculate old-school workers by the end of spring break. by april 10 they will all have full immunity and that will allow our schools to reopen more competently knowing that staff are fully vaccinated and immune i that point. >> reporter: this was intended to vaccinate 2200 school workers , about one quarter of the educational workforce. >> what are you feeling right now? >> very relieved. >> reporter: she got her shot and the only reaction she got from it was an emotional one. >> next week will be one year since we have been out. it has been hard teaching online. i want to see my kids in person.

before this weekend a peruvian restaurant turn customers away because they were full of doors. last night they welcomed people to their space inside. indoor dining is allowed a 25% capacity. there are an additional 25 seats inside the restaurant? >> the first day wasn't that much, but when they see us with the proper guidelines we are taking to make sure they are safe indoors, taking their temperatures at the door and social distancing the tables. >> owners at a nearby italian restaurant say the addition of indoor tables makes a huge difference. great weather for indoor or outdoor. maybe not so much for outdoors from monday to wednesday. we have a chance of rain coming our way. sunday morning will be cold.

clear skies as seen from her camera looking out toward the west. when we look into the far inland tri-valley over dublin, clear skies and cold for those inland spots. right now, 36 in livermore. ukiah, 33. 44, napa. we have developed some fog out there. napa, visibility is down to .5 miles. give yourself some extra time if you're in those valleys. if you get the fog like napa that is one thing. if you're on the 101, it is likely you could hit patchy fog even if we are not reporting it out at napa or petaluma. daytime highs in the low to mid 60s. increasing clouds and a bit of a breeze. that will get us into the early afternoon. you can see where the wind will

be most noticeable. if you are far inland you may not notice that . and, we've got a storm approaching. if we look at the futurecast, watch what happens. the center of the storm will be large and spin its way right down the coast. i took a stew tuesday afternoon. let's get some specifics. on monday, a few showers in the early afternoon. notice how this is not an all day rainout. lines of showers will come through on monday. you will be able to get outside on monday without getting rained on. be prepared at any point in the day you could get a stray shower. on tuesday, the rain increases. there is a good line on tuesday morning.

that doesn't clear the south bay until late morning and then there comes another one. this is far more widespread and comes through in the afternoon. the timing will change on this. in the evening, pop up showers everywhere. on tuesday and wednesday both days will look similar. we will get a good amount of rain. the rainfall totals are not a lot but on tuesday we are up 2.3 inches of rain. and then by wednesday, .6 inches of rain. tuesday and wednesday are more noticeable for action. scattered showers for monday. by the time we get to thursday, we will get a nice warm-up with daytime highs climbing into the upper 60s with plenty of sunshine. maybe another chance of rain at the end of next week. we will have more coming up in the next 30 minutes. good news for art lovers in san francisco. the gallery will be back open to visitors today.

they are accused of stabbing the officer to death and wounding his partner and 2019. the officers were trying to retrieve aback plaque the two teens had stolen after they tried to buy cocaine. when the officers approached, they were unarmed and wearing plainclothes. he said he was acting in self- defense after the two officers jumped him. he said he thought the officer was trying to choke him. the defense will make the closing arguments on march 18. jury selection will begin in the trial of derek chauvin . attorneys have set aside three weeks to pick a jury in the high profile case. the trial may not start on time on march 29th. an appeals court ruled that a judge must reconsider whether to add a 3rd degree murder charge. he is facing a more serious 2nd

degree charge. prosecutors are seeking a 3rd degree charge as another way to get a conviction. another former aide to andrew cuomo is coming forward with descriptions of inappropriate treatment. he apologized for making anyone feel uncomfortable and said it was unintentional. a woman is now talking about her experience when she was in her 20s. she tells the wall street journal that cuomo asked if she had a boyfriend and once kissed her hand. an uptick in crime and violence against the asian community. volunteers are now out patrolling the streets to make people feel safer in a community that has been a recent target. >> reporter: show of solidarity and rowland heights where there has been a string of robberies and this largely asian-american community. >> when it happens to your own

family, you get enraged and upset. >> reporter: his mother was robbed in mimi's bakery. it shows her putting bread on the counter and seconds later a man walks in and snatches her purse with such force he nearly knocked her to the ground. >> she was upset and shocked. my parents have been here for over 25 years. >> reporter: the thief made off with his mother's car keys, id, credit cards and cash. he believes the suspect may have been following her. >> we've got to do something. >> reporter: this volunteer with asians with attitude after a rise in the targeting of people in the asian community >> we will let them know that we will patrol and neighborhood watch. regular civilians with tasers

available. just patrol and make sure out elderly are safe. >> reporter: they reached out and they tell us they have arrested a convicted felon and a 17-year-old they believe are responsible for the incidents. the poet that became an instant sensation says a security guard racially profiled her outside of her own apartment on friday night. amanda gorman tweeted the guard followed her home and demanded to know where she lived because she looked suspicious. she went on to say, this is the reality of black girls. one day you're an icon and the next day you're a threat. she wrote that she's proud to be a threat to injustice and ignorance. pope francis is searching christians in iraq to forgive . he visited several towns in northern iraq.

margaret brennon >> this is one of the most populous states in the country. there is concern among federal health officials including dr. anthony fauci that this is happening way too soon. infection rates are still intense of thousands. we are talking up to 70,000 infections per day. he says they need to drop down to 10,000 before we pull back on these basic tools like masks. >> the san francisco bay ferry is working on a plan to bounce back from the pandemic by encouraging more people to hop on board. they have proposed lowering fairs and adding more off-peak trips starting in july. they could add a new row, one from alameda to oakland and argus. of all could happen as early as

april 1st. the sun came up at 6:32. that means 10 minutes ago. that is the view from the top of the hotel toward the eastern sky. let's get a couple of other vantage points. the important take away is how clear those guys are. what you can't tell is that it is cold. the temperatures in the tri- valley, and that was san jose. in the tri-valley the temperatures are in the 30s. livermore, 36. the northbay, 31. when you get that cold you will likely develop some patchy fog. that is what we have seen happening. santa rosa, visibility is down to 1.3. that is how far you can see down the road. napa has improved. you are only seeing the reading for that one sensor at the

airport. you should plan on encountering patchy fog if you're in the northbay. santa rosa is a good example. daytime highs, low to mid-60s. increasing clouds in the afternoon. it will be breezy in the early afternoon. the brighter the colors, the stronger onshore flow with wind gusts up to the 30s. there is our next rainmaker. that does not bring us rain until tomorrow. it is really tuesday and wednesday. here is what the storm will do. it is spinning its wheels and tuesday into wednesday is when it will deliver the best of this energy and rain. here is monday. on monday we see some isolated showers worked her way across the bay area. monday will not be rained out. if you get a shower over you, that will be a good band of

rain. tuesday is more impressive. showers are better organized and there will be more lines that come in. this will be in the heart of the afternoon. tuesday is a day we could see isolated thunderstorms mixed in here. there will be rained breaks and then intense rain could come through for 20 minutes and then clear out again. it will be cold enough where we might get a light dusting of snow. on tuesday and wednesday, both days will be like that. there is monday with less than a 10th of an inch of rain. when we add and wednesday, 6/10 of an inch of rain. those will be the two days to keep an eye on. look how quickly we cleared out. by the time we've gotten that thursday, it is done. we will end the week with

temperatures climbing back up into the upper 60s which is above average for this time of year. sunny and warm by friday. it will be interesting on tuesday and wednesday. we don't get a lot of thunderstorms and it doesn't look major, but maybe some small hail by tuesday >> we will take whatever we can get. we need it. >> this will help. we will take it. marches colorectal cancer awareness month. it is a second lead of cancer deaths in the u.s. we spoke with dr. anderson row astroid neurologist at the regional medical center. she asked him about what symptoms we should look out for >> one of the problems with colon cancer is that in general it doesn't produce symptoms until it's too late. if you wait for symptoms, the vast majority of people have cancer that has spread. changing bowel habits, blood in

the bowel movement, abdominal pain, cramping and bloating and weight loss. >> screening is key to prevention. what is your advice for screening? >> everyone should talk to their doctor about getting screen. we start the conversation at age 45. the current recommendations are to start screening and 45 or 50 depending on the situation. there are some groups that are at increased chances that should start at age 45. average individuals should start at age 50. if you have a family history of colon cancer, it's recommended to start at age 40. >> screenings have dropped during the pandemic. health

experts are calling on everyone who should be screened to get there screenings this month. this next story is where a hollywood movie that would be more of a buddy film than a block buster. either way, it would have two leads sharing the role of hero. butt he and his dad are best friends. the duo's favorite pastime is watching movies. in fact, maximus is named after a famous movie character >> i thought it was a cool name and then we saw the movie gladiator. >> reporter: a great name for a great kid dedicated to a single dad. he was five years old when stephen was diet nose with cancer leaving him unable to work. the family would eventually lose their home.

>> we went to homelessness. even when we were in the shelter program, he excelled at school. >> reporter: maximus had a perfect attendance record for several years in a row. along the way, he completed 238 hours of volunteer work. he graduated in 2020 with a 4.5 gpa from casa grande the high school in petaluma. >> my major is psychology and i also love mathematics. i plan on being a therapist. i want to help people in a job that will help others. >> his passion for serving others led the 18-year-old to tutoring jobs. several years ago, the family moved into a new home. as a quarantine together, he helps his little sister with her school work too.

this weekend marks the end of an incredible journey of a 41-year-old walking across the golden gate bridge on saturday morning. he started the truck and delaware last may walking with only a back pack. he documented his journey for thousands of followers to watch raising $50,000 for cancer research. this weekend he crossed the finish line.
