i'm anne-marie green. we're going to begin morning with oprah winfrey's explosive interview with meghan markle and prince harry that aired last night. for the first time, the couple opened up about what prompted their royal exit. they shared stories about feeling trapped and at one point, meghan revealed she didn't even want to be alive anymore. ian lee's in london. has there been reaction yet from buckingham palace? >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. buckingham palace hasn't said anything yet, and it's unlikely they'll give any detailed response to what the whole country is talking about. >> the impression of the world, maybe -- >> reporter: oprah's interview with prince harry and meghan was packed with revelations detailing their royal life and why they gave it up. >> if you'd had the support you'd still. yt meghan said she felt

surfaced over the weekend. in a countries call stda cuomtold reporters that he's not going anymore and wants people to waitateygeneral. tw forward saturday accusing him of inappropriate touching and language. that brings the total number of women who have come forward with allegations to five. cuomo is now facing calls to resign from new york state's senate leader and the "albany new times" that endorsed his campaign for governor three times. jury selection begins today for a former minneapolis police officer accused of killing george floyd. last may, derek toughin pressed his knee into george floyd's neck for more than eight minutes. he faces charges including soigd murder. michael george with more from outside the courthouse. what can we expect today? >> reporter: good morning. in just a few hours, protesters are expected to arrive at the course how to. when they do, they'll be met with a large police presence and

barricades. the city is determined to avoid a repeat of the unrest last summer. the trial of derek chauvin is slated to begin today with jury selection. last may the former minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on the neck of george floyd for more than eight minutes. chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter for floyd's death. today a judge will consider adding a third-degree murder charge that could delay the trial. proving a third-degree murder is easier than proving a second-degree unintentional felony murder. third degree is extreme indifference to someone's life. >> reporter: chauvin is expected to argue floyd died from health issues and a drugursult - >> trying to weed out people that don't have prior knowledge or feelings about there case, and i think that's going to be really, really difficult. >> reporter: the courthouse is on lockdown, surrounded by

barricades and barbed wire in anticipation of large crowds throughout the trial. in the first days after floyd's death, protests were marred by violence and destruction. those protests eventually gave way to peaceful demonstrations nationwide calling for police reform. >> i am nervous -- >> reporter: kennedy pounds marched outside the courthouse yesterday -- >> marching today was freeing because i've just been holding a lot of this anxiety and stress surrounding the trial and everything in. >> reporter: the trial for the three other officers implicated in the death is scheduled for august. and access to the courtroom will be extremely limited throughout the trial, each the floyd and chauvin families will only be allowed one family member each. anne-marie? >> wow. michael george in minneapolis. thank you so much. president biden's massive covid relief package is back in the hands of house lawmakers. the senate on saturday approved

the bill 50-49. all democrats voted in favor of it with zero support from republicans. the house is now expected to vote on the amended legislation tomorrow which includes $1,400 stimulus checks for most americans. if it passes, it heads to president biden's desk where he is expected to sign it. a record 5 37b9 million people in the u.s. got vaccinated against the coronavirus this weekend. the cdc says more than 58 million people have received one dose of the shot while more than 30 million people are fully vaccinated. dr. anthony fauci appeared on "face the nation" yesterday. he urged people across the country to stay vigilant, even as the shots become readily available. >> we need to gradually pull bck as we get more people vaccinated. and that is happening every single day, more and more people, and particularly as we get mother nare doses which wil

"the denver post" reports several boulder police officers were hurt as they tried to break up a huge outdoor party. as many as 800 people flooded the streets saturday night near the university of colorado in boulder. police say when they told people to leave, the crowd threw bottles, rocks, and other things at officers and firefighters. yesterday the police chief held a zoom meeting with city officials. >> one could have been really damaging to this officer. thank god he had a gas mask on, and the gas mask took the majority of the blow to this officer's face with a blunt object. so we're lucky that he's not suffering from serious injuries. >> nobody was arrested at the scene, but authorities say that they will pursue criminal charges. and the "wall street journal" says philanthropist mckenzie scott, ex-wife of amazon founder jeff bezos, married a school teacher.

last tuesday by a state-backed chinese entity. at least 30,000 u.s. businesses and government bodies were breached in the attack which is believed to have started in january. u.s. officials say there's no sign federal agencies or major defense contractors were impacted. now you can own a piece of twitter memorabilia. the company's co-founder, jack dorsey's, auctioning his first tweets with bids hitting $2.5 million. in march, 2006, he posted "setting up my twitter." it will have a unique digital certificate that states who owns a picture, video, or other form of media on line. the tweet will stay public even after it is auctioned off. and dust off those mickey mouse ears. disneyland is among the california theme parks that can reopen next month. the parks are allowed to operate at 15% capacity, but only people who live in the state can buy tickets so far. disneyland's president called the news encouraging saying,

here's a look at the forecast in some cities around the country.♪ now in order to restore peace, we must find the last dragon. >> i wish to join this fellowship of butt kickery. >> let's go. >> disneyland's animated adventure "raya and the last dragon" topped the weekend box office. it earned an estimated $8.6 million as it opened in more than 2,000 north american theaters. the movie is also available on disney-plus. but even with new york city theaters opening for the first time in nearly a year this weekend, movies struggled to sell tickets. about 80% of theaters in the country are allowed to operate with limited capacity. we now know some of the musicians who will be performing at next weekend's grammy awards.
