hnson covid shot could be lifted as early as today. this comes as we are hearing about a new death possibly linked to the vaccine. federal officials are investigating the death of an oregon woman in her 50s who developed a rare blood clot and low platelets within two weeks of receiving the vaccine. meanwhile, in texas, a woman who got the shot was hospitalized with possible blood clots and symptoms that appear consistent with the other reported cases. laura podesta's following the latest developments in new york >> reporter: good morning. a few things could happen at the meeting. the committee advising the cdc could say let's stop use of the johnson & johnson vaccine entirely. they could say let's resume it, or let's resume it for a portion of the population that's less at risk, or let's extend the pause. no matter what happens, the president and other officials have said that the johnson &

johnson vaccine should have no impact on the u.s.' overall vaccination effort. a federal advisory committee may lift the pause on the johnson & johnson vaccine today. follg reports of rare but after than a dozen people. know, the number of these reported blood clots was still, you know, exceedingly rare. >> reporter: the fda will likely now require a warning with the shot. >> i think too many people may be scared off by taking the vaccine. they shouldn't be, but perception is everything when it comes to vaccines. >> reporter: officials are also investigating the death of an oregon woman who developed a clot. though it's still unclear if it was related. >> it might be about a week or later before they're able to conclusively decide on the cause of death. >> reporter: bringing the into clationould mean an lion d. ar tccine in arencregly going unfilled.

>> we are not seeing patients that have been vaccinated being admitted to the hospital. >> reporter: younger people are making up the majority of covid patients at goshen hospital in indiana. >> infections are going up. hospitalizations are going up. and both of those things are unnecessary. >> reporter: abby hall got covid in december and is still dealing with health issues. >> if something health-related pops up in my life, i'm like, is this new or covid related? >> reporter: researchers at yale university recently launched a study looking into whether the vaccine may actually help alleviate the lingering symptoms in some so-called covid long haulers. and more than 135 million americans or roughly 40% of the population have received at least one shot at this point. anne-marie? >> all right. laura podesta in new york. laura, thank you so much. demonstrators in elizabeth city, north carolina, called for justice after a black man was shot and killed by police serving a search and arres [ chants ]

protesters called for release of the shooting. -- release of body camera footage from the shooting. witnesses say andrew brown jr. was shot as he tried to drive away and was killed in his car. they say deputies fired multiple times. the chief deputy spoke with why police opened fire. >> in is an arrest warrant around felony drug charges. mr. brown was a convicted felon with a history of resisting arrests. our training and our policies indicate on the circumstances there's a high risk of danger. >> deputies linked to the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending a state investigation. and loved ones say good-bye to duante wright, the young black man shot dead by a police officer during a traffic stop last week in brooklyn center. as michael george reports, members of george floyd's family also attended the service.

♪ >> reporter: together in grief, duante wright's parents and a community shared their loss. >> i never imagined that i'd be standing here. the roles should completely be reversed. my son should be burying me. >> words can't explain how i feel right now. at was my n. >> reporter: as dn by a police officer less than two weeks ago, his mom and uncle looked back to better days. >> that smile. that laugh was there from day one. >> when he walked in the room, he lit up the room. >> reporter: the reverend al sharpton said he heard someone compare duante wright's funeral procession to that of prince's here in minneapolis five years ago. >> we came to bury the prince of brooklyn center. [ cheers ] we are going to make it against the law all over this coun to keep bringing u funerals for our young princes. >> reporter: wright was killed during a traffic stop in

brooklyn center. kimberly potter, the former officer know who shot wright, now faces a second-degree manslaughter charge. the police chief who also resigned said potter mistook her gun for a taser. >> too often that traffic stops end up as deadly sentences. a death sentence. >> reporter: just two days after the murder conviction of derek chauvin, members of george floyd's family attended th rvice. minnesota representative ilhan omar gave wright's family the american flag that flew over the capitol in his honor. michael george, cbs news, minneapolis. a man who detonated a pipe bomb in new york city's busiest subway station will spend the rest of his life in judge. a judge sentenced him yesterday. footage showed him setting off the poorly constructed bomb in a times square station during the morning rush hour in december of 2017. the 31-year-old claimed that he only wanted to kill himself and was not acting on behalf of isis.

there were no deaths in the bombing, but four people were injured. and there could be a major reversal in military practice when it comes to sexual assault. a pentagon panel is reportedly recommending that independent w prosecute service members for sexual assault. it would break decades of protocol as the pentagon has insisted to keep cases within the chain of command. a defense secretary, lloyd austin, is expected to get advice from military service members before making a final decision. and hip-hop star shock g has died. the front man for the '90s group digital underground was found unresponsive in a florida hotel room yesterday. fakee as kwn for digital underground's biggest hit was "the humpty dance" which hit the billboard in 1990. he was also a producer who worked tupac shakur.

"the washington post" reports president biden hosted more than 40 world leaders in a virtual global climate summit. yesterday mr. biden kicked off the first day of the two-day summit to address global warming. he was at the white house while other leaders appeared from around the world. president biden promised to cut u.s. greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030. >> no nation can solve this crisis on our own, as i know you fully understand. all of us, all of us, particularly those of white world'se of us who represehe largest economies, we have to step up. >> several world leaders also pledged to speed up cuts to their own emissions, restore forests, and phase out coal plants. china, the world's biggest emissions culprit, reaffirmed its pledge to be carbon neutral by 2060. the "associated press" says south carolina representative tim scott will deliver the republicans' rebuttal to president biden's joint address to congress next week.

he's the only black republican in the senate. with those stories and more. good morning, diane. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. stock futures are indicating a higher open after a rough day on wall street. all three major indices took a tumble yesterday after word the president is gearing up to boost the capital gains tax on wealthy individuals. the dow dropped 321 points. the nasdaq skidded 131, and the s&p 500 fell 38. senate republicans outlined their own infrastructure plan that's less expensive than what the president proposed. the deal has a price tag of $568 billion as opposed to mr. biden's $2 trillion plan. the gop proposal is focused on physical infrastructure including the nation's roads, railways, and bridges. republicans have largely opposed the president's plan saying it's too expensive and would result in raising corporate taxes. cigna is offering an incentive to employees who get the covid-19 shot. the health insurance company says it will give its 65,000 workers $200 in their health spending accounts if they choose to get the vaccine.

plus, they'll get paid time off to get the shot. cigna's chief clinical officer said the company is committed to doing its part, quote, to build a community of immunity. and pepsi is giving a taste of a throwback. pepsi blue is set to hit store shelves again for the first time since 2004. the berry-flavored beverage will be on sale nationwide starting may 3rd. it will be sold in 20-ounce bottles and multipacks while supplies last. pepsi said fans of the electric blue drink have been calling for its return for years. anne-marie? >> you know, i might have missed this the first time around. perhaps i mistook it for pepsi brand mouthwash based on the color -- >> it does look like it or something. you're right. it's a cool color, but i don't know. i don't know. the dentist might be like -- what is going on? >> right. well, it has fans so maybe i'll give it a try this time around. diane king hall in new york, thank you so much, diane. >> you got it.
