good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin this morning with the white house push to improve vaccination rates. the latest data coming out of the cdc shows a dramatic drop-off in the number of new people getting a shot over the past few weeks. 63% of american adults are partially vaccinated. but president biden wants to hit 70% in exactly one month. so laura podesta is in new york following this story for us. laura, there is one region that is kind of slipping behind. >> reporter: good morning, yes, the southern united states. mississippi has the lowest vaccination rate at 44%.ehind a 46%. there are growing concerns the nation's mass immunization efforts have stalled. >> for all the progress we're making as a country, if you're unvaccinated, you are still at risk of getting seriously ill or dying. >> reporter: the pace of covid-19 vaccinations has slowed

in recent weeks, especially in the southern u.s. >> i'm just giving it some time. i'm not in a vulnerable group. >> i think it was figuring it out. see how everybody was doing with it. >> reporter: mississippi, louisiana, and alabama have the lowest percentages of adults who have received at least one dose. they're far behind the states with the highest vaccination rates. vermont, hawaii, and massachusetts. the cdc is warning of a rise in the number of young people being hospitalized with covid-19. >> i strongly encourage parents to get their teens vaccinated, as i did mine. >> reporter: officials are aiming to get at least one shot into the arms of 70% of american adults by the fourth of july. right now that number stands at 63%. many cities and states are using prizes and giveaways as an incentive to get vaccinated. >> why are we doing this? it's because we know it works. this is a very, very common sense investment to save lives. >> reporter: the white house says the u.s. is donating 80

million coronavirus vaccine doses to the u.n. for distribution to global hot spots like india. an initial shipment of 25 million doses will be sent immediately. the rest by of the month. white house officials say a quarter of our excess vaccines will be kept in reserve for emergencies and to share with our allies.

"the new york times" reports pentagon officials found that a majority of the incidents documented over the past two decades did not originate from any american military or other advanced u.s. technology. officials believe experimental technology from rival countries like china or russia could account for some of the aerial phenomena in question. an unclassified version of the report is expected to be
