president harris are focusing on their first foreign trips since taking office. harris is in guatemala now tackling the spike in immigration at the southern u.s. border. she's set to meet with guatemala's president today before traveling to mexico. meantime, mr. biden will head to the uk on wednesday for the g7 economic summit. he's expected to meet with russian president vladimir putin during his time overseas. laura podesta's in new york. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. yes, a busy few days for the president and vice president. among the issues they are expected to be talking about with world leaders the coronavirus and global coordination to get a vaccine to the neediest countries. as you mentioned, the president is going to be meeting with vladimir putin on june 16th. putin recently said he wants to improve the relationship between washington and moscow. vice president harris is now in guatemala on the first leg of her first overseas trip since taking office.

things got off to a rough start as her plane was forced to fly back to joint base andrews due to a technical issue about 30 minutes after takeoff. she'll travel to mexico later today. the white house says harris will talk about covid, corruption, and immigration with leaders in both countries. this week president biden will travel abroad for the first time as commander in chief. on wednesday he'll fly to the uk for visits with prime minister boris johnson and queen elizabeth ii. mr. biden will attend the g7 conference, then head to bet -- to belgium and switzerland for a series of summits including one with russian leader vladimir putin. >> i've always been about bipartisanship -- >> reporter: the foreign policy focus comes as the president's domestic agenda appears stalled. on sunday, west virginia's joe manchin said he would not support a sweeping election and campaign finance reform bill effectively dooming the legislation. >> we must come together on a voting rights bill in a bipartisan way. you can't divide our country

further by thinking you've given leeway to one or the other. >> reporter: manchin reiterated his support for the senate's filibuster rule which many democrats want to do away with. even before senator manchin announced his decision to vote against the bill, it was unlikely to advance in the senate where 60 votes are needed to end debate on a bill and overcome a filibuster. anne-marie? >> all right. laura podesta in new york. thank you so much. so breaking overnight, two people in california are under arrest for allegedly shooting a 6-year-old boy during an apparent road rage incident. 6-year-old aiden leos was killed last month after he was hit by a bullet. authorities say they arrested 24 -year-old eriz marcus anthony and lee wynne at their home yesterday in connection with this case. they are expected to be charged with murder. a memorial was held for leos on saturday. both his mother and grandmother

spoke at the service. >> everywhere we went he would greet people with a vibrant "hello, i'm aiden, what's your name?" >> he loved telling his mother, his sissy, and me that we were all beautiful and we believed him. >> leos was riding in the back seat of his mother's car on his way to kindergarten when he was shot. also breaking overnight, at least 38 people are dead after two passenger trains crashed in southern pakistan. authority say that one train derailed and fell across an opposite track where it was hit by the other train. they say that up to 20 passengers were trapped in the wreckage. rescue crews used heavy machinery to try to free them. it's not clear what caused the derailment, though. the railway workers say about 1,100 passengers were on board the two trains at the time. with summer-like heat kicking in, many americans had another reason to shed their

masks over the weekend. the health officials continued to reach out to people who have not gotten the covid vaccine. more than 63% of adults in the u.s. have received at least one shot so far. but president biden wants to hit 70% by the fourth of july. elise preston has more. >> reporter: with the heat wave sweeping much of the u.s., millions of americans are enjoying their new freedom from covid-19 restrictions. crowds flocked to this wisconsin state park over the sultry weekend. >> to be able to just be at the beach and, you know, no limitations, it's nice, definitely. >> reporter: in california's bay area, the san mateo county fair attracted visitors seeking fun and on-site covid vaccinations. >> when you come to a fair there's all kinds of free stuff and unexpected surprises. i think it's a great idea. >> reporter: as july 4th fast approaches, states in the deep south like mississippi where about a third of the adults have been vaccinated with at least one dose are far from president

biden's next goal of 70%. >> the fact is we're down 98% since early january in terms of total number of cases in our state. we had less than 50 mississippians in icu beds with the coronavirus as of friday. >> reporter: on sunday, first lady jill biden and dr. anthony fauci visited a vaccine site at a new york city church in harlem. >> we're going to end this outbreak. we're absolutely certain. the vehicle to ending it is vaccination. that's what's going on right here. >> they're working hard because we have to get back to life as normal. >> reporter: more than a year into the pandemic, questions are growing about whether the coronavirus came from nature or somehow leaked from a lab in wuhan, china. >> there's a lot of other information that points in the direction that this could have come out of a lab that we need to have a broader view about the potential risk that this was a lab leak. >> reporter: last month, president biden asked u.s. intelligence agencies to investigate the origins of the virus and report back in 90 days. elise preston, cbs news.

well, the duke and duchess of sussex are proud parents for a second time. a spokesperson announced meghan gave birth to a girl on friday in santa barbara. baby and mom are doing well. no official pictures have been released but we know their daughter's name is lilibet diana mountbatten-windsor. they plan to use the nickname lili. people who live near them could not contain their excitement. >> i think it's amazing that we have another royal in the area. a very good place. the quality of life is amazing. i think they've made a right decision by coming to montecito. >> the baby who weighed in at seven pounds, 11 ounces, is named after two special women in harry's life -- a nod to queen elizabeth and her middle name, diana, is in honor of harry's mother, of course, princess diana. so coming up, passenger behaving badly. a man is detained on a delta flight after he allegedly tried

...to refresh all your summer fun. letting every sunny moment shine a little brighter. tropicana sip your sunshine. american gymnast simone biles looks like she is in top form as she heads into next month's tokyo summer olympics. the 24-year-old won her record seventh u.s. gymnastics all-around title in texas. she's the reigning world and olympics champion. biles is trying to become the first woman to win back-to-back olympic all-around gold medals in more than 50 years. a passenger ferry ran aground in brooklyn, and there was another deadly shooting in the miami area. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." "the miami herald" reports three people were killed and five others wounded in a shooting outside a college graduation party. police say one or more vehicles

pulled up and began firing at people yesterday as they were leaving the party at a strip ll 20-year-old florida corrections officer tyleshia taylor. police do not believe she was a target. two people died when the car they were in sped off and crashed into a wall. this was the latest in a string of recent shootings in the miami area. "usa today" says the fbi's investigating after a passenger reportedly tried to break into the cockpit of a delta airlines flight. the plane was flying from los angeles to nashville on friday when it was diverted to albuquerque, new mexico. the airline says an unruly passenger made an attempt to breach the locked cockpit, but crew members and other passengers detained him. >> they're not clowning around, and i realized they were in a full-on fight, wrestling. >> video shows one passenger on the plane with his wrists zip tied behind his back.

the man was arrested and detained by police at the airport after the plane landed. there were 162 passengers on board. no one was hurt. and "the new york times" says a ferry with more than 1-00 passengers on board ran aground in new york city. the ferry, operated by seastreak, was traveling from new jersey to manhattan saturday when it drifted and hit ground off brooklyn. it began taking on water. images show the boat tipping slightly to the side. one crew member was hurt. passengers had to be removed. seastreak says the boat was not able to steer properly after a mechanical problem caused it to lose power. still ahead, a brave rat. a giant rodent that can sniff out land mines earns a break. it's my 5:52 woke-up-like-this migraine medicine. it's ubrelvy. for anytime, anywhere migraine strikes, without worrying if it's too late, or where i am.

on the cbs "money watch," fisher-price is recalling a baby sleeper, and walmart is thanking workers on thanksgiving. diane king hall is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, diane. you're back. >> reporter: good morning. i'm back. i'm wearing money green in honor of being back on wall street. i mean, it's really been a wild ride. we've been gone from the floor of the new york stock exchange for more than a year. and i mean, it just feels -- it's refreshing to be back. some things are the same in that we're probably the only warm bodies on the floor right now. myself and our crew here besides the security guards. some things are different like this plexiglass behind me. this was not here before. and it's one of the reasons i

can do this report without my mask on. they've put this up, but as soon as i leave this part, i have to put my mask back on. let me jump to the headlines that we've got in the business front. on the economic docket this week, investors are looking ahead to the consumer price report later this week. that will tell the tale of inflation. and on friday stocks ended with gains. the dow rallied 179 points. the nasdaq jumped nearly 200. the s&p 500 gained 37. parents, listen up -- fisher-price is recalling 120,000 baby soothers after four infants died. the sleep products in question, the four-in-one rock n glide soother and the two-in-one soothe and play gliders. the victims include an 11-week-old and babies between two and four months. they were put on their backs in the soother unrestrained and later found on their stomachs. consumers should stop using the products immediately and contact fisher-price for a refund.

royal caribbean is getting ready to hit the high seas for the first time since last march. now the cruiseliner plans to begin sailing ships from ports in texas and florida this july and august starting with freedom of the seas in miami on july 2nd. the company had already announced plans to sail from seattle to alaska on roundtrip voyages starting in july. all crew members will be vaccinated against covid-19 while passengers are, quote, strongly recommended to get the shot. and walmart already has turkey day on its plate. the world's biggest retailer announced it will be closed this thanksgiving day. officials say they're making the move in what they call a thank you to employees for their work during the pandemic. stores will be open the day before thanksgiving. as for black friday, those store hours will be revealed at a later date. anne-marie? >> not bad. so you mentioned, you know, some things are definitely different. i think it's a good reminder for people that precautions are still being taken.
