this morning, president biden is in england where he's set to meet with prime minister boris johnson before the start of the g7 summit. mr. biden is also expected to announce a historic covid vaccine donation to low-income nations. 200 million doses of the pfizer vaccine this year, 300 million by the first half of next year, all going to 92 countries who need it the most. laura podesta is tracking the latest from new york. laura, how soon will these doses go out? >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. as soon as august. this is the biggest donation of vaccines in our country's history. as we know, a virus does not care about borders, and the white house said in a statement, quote, the only way to beat the pandemic globally is by helping to vaccinate the world. ♪ president biden meets with british prime minister boris johnson today in southwest england ahead of the g7 summit.

>> the first time any of us really have been able to see each other face to face since the pandemic began. and you know, the pandemic -- face it, it was a scratchy period. >> reporter: his first time on the world stage as president, mr. biden comes bearing gifts. the u.s. is buying a half billion coronavirus vaccines from pfizer to give to lower income countries. >> we have to end covid-19 not just at home which we're doing but everywhere. >> reporter: the commander in chief spoke with u.s. troops at the first stop of his eight-day trip yesterday. >> when i was 14, please at ease. i keep forgetting i'm president. [ laughter ] >> reporter: he's expected to use the g7 meetings to reassure europe of america's role as a global leader following four years of president trump's america-first agenda. >> we're going to make it clear that the united states is back, and democracies of the world are standing together. >> reporter: at the end of the

trip, president biden will hold a high-stakes summit in switzerland with russian president vladimir putin. >> the united states will respond in a robust and meaningful way when the russian government engages in harmful activity. >> reporter: the president says he'll confront putin on election meddling and cyberattacks by russian-based hackers. president biden will also be meeting with queen elizabeth on sunday before heading to a nato security summit in belgium. anne-marie? >> laura podesta in new york. thank you so much, laura. seattle hit a milestone in the fight against covid. mayor jenny durkan says it's the first major city in the nation to have 70% of its residents fully vaccinated. that includes children ages 12 and up. officials say now that the vaccination goal has been met, they'll launch new efforts to help support seattle's reopening. former president trump is responding to the results of an investigation that clears him in a controversial photo op last

year. he says he's totally exonerated. last june authorities forcibly cleared out demonstrators who were protesting racial injustice and police brutality in an area in front of the white house. soon after mr. trump posed for pictures holding a bible at a nearby church. kris van cleave has more on what the report found. >> reporter: vindication for the trump administration. an inspector general report finds federal law enforcement officers that aggressively cleared protesters and media from outside of the white house during last summer's social justice demonstrations did not do it to make way for this presidential photo op at st. john's church. >> is that you're bible? -- your bible? >> it's my bible. >> reporter: the findings support this from then-attorney general bill barr to "face the nation's" margaret brennan. >> i gave the green light. obviously i didn't know that the president was going to be speaking later in the day. >> reporter: when bill barr arrived later that day, the reports said he asked police, "are these people still going to

be here when the president comes out?" the use of force was criticized and is the subject of a lawsuit against the department of justice. the report found the park police and other agencies that swept through what is now black lives plaza did it to make way for expanded security fencing after nights of violent unrest. 7:00, that's a flash bang. all right. we are just minutes away from d.c.'s 7:00 curfew. you heard the flash bang. that is an attempt to clear the crowd out. while the ig report says officers made three announcements to disperse the crowd it came as a surprise to many. other law enforcement officers, demonstrators, and our cbs news crews on the scene did not hear any warnings. former president trump is praising the report, calling it highly detailed, saying that it completely and totally exonerates him. it's important to note this was done by the inspector general for the department of the interior and focused on the u.s. park police response. it did not talk to barr or other former trump officials. kris van cleave, cbs news,

washington. the world's largest meat supplier confirmed for the first time that it paid a ransom. jbs said it paid the equivalent of $11 million to the hackers who broke into its computer system last month. production in the u.s. was disrupted for several days. officials for the brazil-based company said t made the payment in order to avoid any future problems, including data leaks. the fbi says a russia-based group carried out the attack, and it is working to bring them to justice. the governor of arizona has issued an emergency declaration for a growing wildfire east of phoenix. the telegraph fire has burned more than 80,000 acres since last friday. it's getting dangerously close t the city of globe where more than 2,500 homes have been evacuated. governor doug ducey will take an aerial tour of the fire site today as residents in globe clear up dead branches and anything that could fuel the fire.

>> try to prevent that from happening. i'm going to try to prevent the measure from the fire from impacting us, impacting the community, impacting my life here. >> the fire is 21% contained. it is the ninth largest in arizona history and believed to be human caused. there's heart-pounding new video of a bus crash in new york city that left 16 people injured. watch as the bus driver loses control, veers into oncoming traffic, jumps a curb, and slams into a building. this happened on monday. engineers are worried that the building could collapse. the 45,000-pound bus is still lodged inside as workers stabilize it. transit officials say no apparent mechanical issues were found. the incident remains under investigation. coming up, wild encounter. a rampaging elephant is caught on dash camera video. we'll have the driver's frightening reaction.

"usa today" reports the controversial keystone xl crude oil pipeline has been canceled after president biden blocked its permit. the project's sponsor says it is

pulling the plug after canadian officials failed to persuade mr. biden to reverse the decision that he made during his first time in office. construction started last year after former president trump revived it. it had been halted by the obama administration. environmentalists oppose the project. supporters say it would have created thousands of american construction jobs. the "san antonio express news" says an air force base was placed on lockdown for about two hours after reports that shots had been fired into the base from the outside. officials at joint base san antonio lakeland told all personnel to shelter in place yesterday after two shots were reported. they say it's unclear if anyone saw a shooter and whether one or two gunmen were involved. no injuries were reported, though. the base is used for air force basic training. and "the washington post" says world leaders meeting in

here's a look at the forecast in some cities around the country. ♪ not even the president can avoid the critters invading part of the east coast. as mr. biden was departing for the uk yesterday, a cicada got him right on the neck. he swatted the insect away, and off it went. afterward he told reporters, watch out for the cicadas. the insects also delayed the plane meant to carry the press corps for the president's trip. on the cbs "money watch" now, there's a recall of baby rice cereal, and a new lego toy will delight old school writers. diane king hall is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning, diane. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. investors are eyeing inflation data today when the labor department releases its may report on the consumer price index.

weekly jobless claims are also on deck. this after a drop on wall street yesterday. the dow slid 152 points. the nasdaq fell 13, and the s&p 500 lost 7. parents, pay attention. beech-nut is recalling some of its infant rice cereal sold nationwide. the move comes after samples of beech-nut single-grain rice cereal revealed excessive levels of arsenic above the fda guidance level. the product in question has an expiration date of may 1st, 2022. the chemical can be dangerous to brain development in babies and toddlers. no illnesses have been reported. the company says consumers should throw away the recalled product. president biden revoked a trump-era attempt to ban chinese-owned apps tiktok and wechat. the commerce department will review apps designed and developed by foreign adversaries. mr. biden said officials will use an evidence-based approach to see if they pose a risk to national security. former president trump wanted

invasion of the cicadas, but there's another creepy crawler posing a much more serious problem. ticks. the disease-carrying bugs are being found in areas thought to be tick free. here's carter evans. all the things that we're walking by right now could be filled with ticks. >> reporter: after battling lyme disease, dana parish thought she was safe from ticks when she moved from new york to the california coast. now you come back from the beach and you got to check for ticks? yes, unfortunately. i hate to break it to you, but that's exactly what you have to do. >> reporter: researchers recently blanketed the brush along northern california beaches. >> we were surprised to find coast -- >> reporter: typically the northeast is the epicenter for ticks in the u.s., and scientists are expecting an explosion of ticks there this year. warmer, wetter winters could be contributing to the larger numbers of mice they like to feed on. and more ticks means more tick-borne illnesses like lyme
