good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with tropical storm elsa which is passing near the florida keys this morning. it's expected to make landfall sometime today on the west coast of florida. right now tropical storm warnings are up in portions of the state. elsa slammed cuba hitting the country's southern coast in the afternoon. of cuba.m packing trentia there's also fears about potential mudslides. laura podesta is tracking the storm's latest path. parts of florida filing the beginnings of elsa's wrath. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. bands of heavy rain continue to pummel parts of western cuba. the outer bands moving north into southern florida and parts of the keys. the outer rain bands are bringing with them 40 mile per hour winds, heavy rain and the

threat of tornadoes. tropical storm elsa turned through cuba overnight inundating the island withp tet anticipate a storm this early in the season. we've got to get this tightened up. >> reporter: elsa is moving north followi projected path on the coast. >> the landfall impact is likely to be north of tampa bay. >> reporter: florida governor ron desantis said elsa appears to be tracking away from the miami area. >> at least in terms of the surfside with the storm elsa, the news is pretty positive. >> reporter: but the entire state is bracing for potential heavy winds and possible flooding. >> we got the notification that we could get sand bags and we're ght on some water. we just want to do everything that we can at this point. >> reporter: the national weather service said elsa could

bring tropical storms to georgia and the carolinas this week with low lying coastal areas most at risk. >> reporter: elsa's already being blamed for three deaths, two in the dominican republic and one on the island of saint lure shah. they are expected to receive three to five inches of rain with some areas with eight inches, anne-marie. >> laura podesta in new york. thank you so much. so while elsa is not expected to make a direct hit in the area of that collapsed florida condo, thunderstorms have delayed yesterday's search efforts. the death toll in surfside jumps to 28 with 117 still missing. search and rescue teams pulled four more bodies from the rubber.

people people started running for their lives during this fireworks accident in ohio. four people were injured. police say stacks of fireworks piled next to a rental truck ignited sunday night at a july 4th block party in toledo. it set off a series of explosions. an investigation is underway to find out why the fireworks ignited. and a search is underway for a cargo plane that crashed off hawaii last week. there was a tragic mishap at an amusement park. cbs 2 in iowa reports a deadly accident at an amusement park was the second one there since 2016. an 11-year-old boy was killed

and three others injured saturday on the raging river boat ride at the adventure kls land park and altuna. they say it was difficult responding to the scene. >> there was a lot of equipment, personnel had to travel back to the remote area on foot. it was a challenge getting back there. >> reporter: the decades old ride opened on friday. right terts says the ntsb is searching for a cargo plane that crashed during an emergency landing. the two-member crew told air traffic controllers the engine broke out moments before friday's crash in the pacific ocean. they found the two pilots an hour later clinging to packages and parts of the plane several miles off oahu. they were both seriously injured. investigators want to recover

tree country club outside atlanta. two more bodies found in the bed of a white pickup truck parked on the green. one of the men was identified as the owner of that truck. he was remembered by a long-time friend. >> gene was a guy that built h h work, through patience, service, through selflessness. those kind of characteristics are easy to follow. it's a big void that is left in our community. the unidentified suspect fled the scene. a california woman is proving to us age is just a number. she's doing it in an incredibly giving and selfless manner. jamie yuccas introduces us to olga marie. >> reporter: some people never find purpose in their life but she did before she retired. >> i thought to myself, this is what i want to do. of course, i had no idea how to

do it. >> reporter: at the end of her legal career olga took vacation to a place she had never been. you just went to nepal on a whim? >> yes. the minute i landed i fell in love with the country. the children, they held my hand. they were so delighted. >> reporter: it was there, she had an epiphany. >> that started a 30-year passion building the nepal youth foundation, combatting poverty, building schools and rescuing girls forced into servitude. we would train them to safe their sisters. she says there's so much more that needs to be done. >> i don't think about stopping frankly. you know, as long as i have my marbles and i'm healthy, i'll just continue to do that.
