good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with the fda's new warning about the johnson & johnson covid vaccine shot. the agency says the single dose vaccine is possibly linked to a rare autoimmune disorder that could lead to paralysis. but it's still urging people to get inoculated as the daily number of covidhe country by 30. laura podesta is in new york. laura, what more do we know about this rare side effect? >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. it's called guillen-barre syndrome and symptoms present as tingling in the hands and toes. a small percentage of people die and most have lingering effects like numbness and fatigue. a new warning about johnson & johnson's one dose coronavirus vaccine. the fda says out of the 12.8 million americans who have

people to vote. >> it breaks our heart we have to do it, but we do it because we are in a fight to save our democracy. >> we're not free when you promote the rights of partisan poll watchers over the rights of others so we're not going to take it. >> governor greg abbott said the democrats must return to the state. he threatened to arrest them when they come back. >> the democrats must put aside partisan political gains and get back to the job they were elected to do. their constituents must not be denied these important resources simply because their elected representatives refuse to show up to work. >> reporter: the proposed voting measure would ban 24 hour polling places, drop boxes and drive-through voting. wildfires are burning across ten states in the west this morning. the bootleg fire continues to

explode in southwest oregon. it has burned tozs of homes and buildings and threatens 2,000 more. the fire has scorched more than 153,000 acres and is threatening the power grid that connects oregon and california. at this point the fire is 0% contained. the beckworth fire is raging out of control. new footage shows firefighters running to take cover as strong winds swept through the area. people who live close to the fire fear the worst is yet to come. >> i'm not too much worried about the rebuilding. i'm more worried about the wind. that fire could be on the other side of that mountain and it could put embers on the other side of the mountain and burn this town down. >> so far it's burned more than 91,000 acres and is 26% contained. president biden says he stands with the cuban people calling protests there f

part in training exercises. it jumped out of the plane at 15,000 feet but his parachute only partially opened. tampa celebrated the stanley cup win with a boat parade and there was a rare storm outside of philadelphia. those are some of the headlines on the morning newstand. according to the philadelphia inquirer, the national weather center said bucks and burlington county experienced a 100 year flood event after extreme rain. this was the scene outside philadelphia yesterday. in some cases you can only see the tops of cars. fire crews had to rescue some people from their submerged homes. officials say some areas got up to 10 inches of rain within about 3 to 4 hours yesterday. no injuries or deaths were reported though. the salt lake city tribune said the state made a mistake reporting inaccurate covid data. spencer cox said the state hit its goal of vaccinating 70% of

adults by july 4th. the state officials say there was a data error counting some single doses multiple times. cox issued an apology. as of yesterday 67% of utah adults had one dose of vaccine. the tampa bay times said the tampa bay lightning celebrated their stanley cup victory with a boat had a raid. >> let's go lightning. >> hundreds of boats and thousands of fans lined water front in downtown tampa yesterday. a post parade rally was also held after being delayed due to a thunderstorm. players showed up and talked to fans. this is the team's second consecutive stanley cup championship. still ahead, the newest barbie doll. the iconic toy pays tribute to a young tennis star. this may look like a regular movie night.

york stock exchange with those stories and more. good morning, diane. >> good morning, anne-marie. jpmorgan chase and goldman sachs are set to be the first major companies to report second quarter results. stocks hit new records yesterday fueled by the prospect of strong earnings. the dow rallied 126 points, nasdaq gained 31 and s&p 500 added 15. after an historic ride to space, the stock closed down 17% after the company announced plans to sell up to $500 million in shares. the timing of the proposed sale is unclear. the money would help fund several projects like developing the space ship fleet. it's already sold more than 600 reservations from would-be space tourists with tickets costing $250,000. subway is out with the old and in with the new. the fast food restaurant is rolling out a new menu today which includes new or returning sandwiches to celebrate

our top stories this morning. the fda is out with a new warning about johnson & johnson's covid shot. they say out of the 12.8 million americans who have gotten the vaccine, about 100 people developed a rare but serious autoimmune disorder. still, the fda says the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risk. democrats in the texas legislature fled to washington to protest claims by republicans to overhaul the state election laws. the democrats say they will stay there for weeks in order to prevent passage of a bill that would make it harder for some people to vote in texas. drowning is a leading cause of injury-related deaths in children ages 1 to 4.

michael george has safety recommendations as well. >> reporter: 7-year-old adam neeson is headed to first grade. his mom says she knows how lucky they are. two years ago he drowned in a friend's pool while she was close by getting her daughter ready to swim. >> it was just the worst moment you can imagine. something you just never think is going to happen to you or to your family. >> reporter: a friend pulled adam out and started cpr. he spent four days in the hospital and made a full recovery. >> knowing cpr is so important because if we had had to wait for an ambulance to come, if he had gone that long without oxygen. >> reporter: a new american academy of pediatrics report show 900 children died from drowning and 7200 seen in the er in 2018. toddler and teen boys are at highest risk. one study shows more than half of drownings occur between 4 and 6 p.m.
