♪[ music ] right now we are learning the cause of a 150 acre fire near watsonville. how cal fire says the blaze started. san jose has some of the strictest water conservation rules in the bay area. the san jose water company is threatening to hit those who wastewater in the wallet. some counties are easing mass requirements. we are hearing from businesses about what it means for them. good morning, thank you for joining us. let's start with a quick check of the weather. today is going to be warm and sunny, tomorrow it is going to rain. rain will be the focus of the forecast for sunday. light showers moving in during the second half of the day. saturday we start out as

relatively warm. a cool 43 in santa rosa. if you look at where we are going for daytime s,4 degrees shot 90. 80s the bay. that is how you know it is a warm october. i will see with the rest of the forecast in just a few minutes. cal fire and ms. they lost control of a prescribed turn on the edge of the santa cruz mountains. the fire grew to 150 acres and forced evacuations. the estrada fire is in a heavy force that area. it begin a little bit before 3:00 friday afternoon. firefighters were already in place because they have been conducting an intentional burn. people who live in the area were forced to live their home. cal fire says the crews have surrounded the fire with retarded and will continue to strengthen control lines. for the latest information you

can head over to our website, kpix.com. san jose has some of the toughest water conservation measures of any major city in the state. now some southbay residents who exce theitswi a fine. >> reporter: it has been four months since san jose water asked customers to cut back, and appealing to their conscience is not working. san jose water is now going after their wallets. >> i think people should be aware there is great reason for concern. >> reporter: she says the company asked for a voluntary cut back a 15% represented by the green line. another water did see a steady decline, the customers miss the target. >> are you guys disappointed? >> i think it's hard to get people to completely change their behavior. i think that we may progress. we wish it would've been more, we encourage people to continue conservation.

oakland, a resident at a big scare when a car plowed into an transit bus pushing the bus into his home. as kpix 5 explains, the crash left him stranded inside of his home for hours. >> luckily the homeowner was not hurt, but he was inside his home at the time of the crash. he says he was upstairs. tonight he details the moment the bus came crashing into his home. >> i'm looking at everyone, i can read your lips and everyone is calling my name and i'm saying i'm up., no one can hear me. >> reporter: he tried to get people's attention after this ac transit bus came to a stop in his living room. he is a disabled vietnam veteran bound to a wheelchair after the initial shock he knew that he was okay and turned his focus to the bus driver. >> because of the sheet rock and stuff that is on the wall, i cannot see inside of the bus. i can hear this man. the

moaning was very painful. >> reporter: he called 911 right away and got a busy signal the first two times. the third time was the charm as he got through to dispatchers. by then officers were already on the scene. at that point he knew this was more than just a crash. >> i said okay, this has to be a chase. two things have happened in this neighborhood where it takes 10-15 minutes for an officer to get here. they are here in less than three minutes. >> the california highway patrol confirms a silver toyota is a stolen car. according to ac transit the car ran a red light, striking the bus and causing it to veer off. two people on the bus and the driver complained of minor injuries and the four in the toyota were injured as well. >> this is not the first time this house has been hit by a car. this corner, i don't know. it's just a magnet for

accidents. >> reporter: a neighbor was on the bus at the time and was kee hoal with head a san francisco man who went missing while kayaking in the county has been found dead. authorities say dylan flanagan went missing sunday night. he was reportedly staying with friends and celebrate his birthday and everything job promotion. search crews found his body thursday along the shoreline. an autopsy is scheduled for next week. a judge lamb state prison officials are what led up to a deadly covid-19 outbreak essay equipment. the judge tentatively ruled prison officials acted with deliberate indifference when they transferred infected inmates from a southern california prison to san quentin. the judge wrote prison officials ignore virtually every safety measure. after the transfer in may 2020 after the transfer in may 2000 2075% of inmates ended up

transatlantic tower. the numbers are mild, only 50 degrees in concord.. it is cool in the north bay valleys, that's one of the good things about having a color- coded map. you can actually see the pool of deeper blue shading below the 50s of the green on here. you can visualize where the cold air cools out across the bay area on our mornings where if you get those interior valleys where you don't get much mixing and the cooler air settles down to the bottom that is where your colder locations will be. daytime highs today, 87 in concord and livermore, 85 in san jose, we top out at 85 in santa rosa. here is how you know, 77 in the city. 3 degrees shy of 80. that is a warm day. the cities like the canary and the coal mine you want to see if it is a one-day, are you in

the upper 70s in the city? yes. here is how it changes, we play the futurecast for and bring what looks to be a very impressive line of showers on this particular forecast model we are using this to look at the timing and to see the next one. watch how it plays out. that is tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. that is where we get our first line of rain. once that passes, there is another one. that one starts to work its way here and tries to bring us rain for the second half of next week . we will go into more on that in the seven-day forecast. this is sunday, watching a really fast. from sunday in the afternoon to sunday in the evening the trail in front moves across the bay area and we don't really get a hold on out of this. the best way to look at it is where the rain where you can actually measure it? i want to

bring them back to show us what sunday's totals look like. that will tell us the story of w ouifwe take a look atofan in n may be in the bay area. it is betterth perhaps as much as 3/10 of rain or maybe three quarters of an inch of rain. in the seven-day forecast covers a light chance of rain. monday we clear out, look at the daytime highs. once the system comes through we clear down in a big way. you will stay there around the 70 degrees mark until we get to the end of the week. by wednesday and friday of next week two other systems will come through and try to bring more rain. neither look overly impressive for the bay area. they will be for northernmost california. those two systems are great

unanimously voted to recommend the johnson & johnson booster shot for the more than 15 million americans who have received the single dose vaccine. >> we have 19 out of 19 unanimous yes votes for this question. >> reporter: the committee did not provide a definitive timeframe and said everyone 18 and older should wait at least two months after the first j&j shot, but suggested six months might produce better results. during the discussion experts point to evidence the vaccine appears less protective over time then the two does moderna and pfizer shots. >> all of the data does not fully online with this being a vaccine that retains excellent activity over time against all forms of disease or even severe forms. >> reporter: on thursday the same committee recommended the moderna booster shot, but restricted that to seniors over 65, younger people with certain health conditions and workers more potentially exposed. >> many may be suffering breakthrough infections, but the protection from severe disease is still holding up

come out and parking will put another criteria where they won't be able to enjoy. >> where is the money coming from to keep it clean right now ? what will the extra money due to make a better? >> those beachgoers were not the only ones, a bay area news group says democratic lawmakers came out against the plan. it was officially shelved this week. the national park service say we've heard the concerns loud and clear and as a result our removing close to parking lots from consideration of this the proposal for now. shifting our attention to the focus, a beautiful start to the day from this camera on top of the mark hopkins hotel. sunrises and happening until about 7:15 am today. this is the golden half hour or the sky will look really pretty. okay, morning lows in the low 40s in the north valleys.

contrasting that with the daytime highs, a totally different story. it's going to be warm, middle to upper 80s for most valleys of the space. 85 in san jose and santa rosa. and i'll talk about approaching rain, let's get specific on how much we may actually see. the first system is tomorrow. we'll look at this in and that more detail and you will see how this will not be a whole lot of rain if any, but still good rain for northern california. there is the first system and here comes the next. that one comes in for the middle of next week. there are two more after that one and will look at those again coming up on the big picture. we're going to watch this on the high-resolution forecast model. watch the showers from sunday afternoon into sunday evening. it doesn't like a whole lot likely won't be if we look at the forecast for accumulated

rainfall we are only talking about 100th of an inch of rain for the majority of us. not a lot, and light sprinkle perhaps the second half of tomorrow. much better rain up north. if we look in the sierra this will be a better snow maker. we're talking a half foot. this storm will be able to use the mountains and the lift the balance will provide to drop more precipitation and in this case it will come as no. a better system there. if we watch the next few days, the take away is it will be really active in the pacific, but most of the storms come a little too far north for it to rain much at your house. that doesn't me we are not going to see pretty impressive storms over the next few days. there is sunday, up on the far northern coast.

here comes the next one. that is the wednesday system. notice the southern end falls apart. we likely do not get a lot of rain out of wednesday system either. here comes the next one. that one arrives by the time we get into saturday. really good looking storm for most of the west coast including northernmost california, but down here at home we are just getting the leftovers. i found like a broken record, this looks really good and it is finally the first on the looks really good. a hugely important caveat, we're looking back to monday, october 25, one week from this coming monday. that is too far to look at these forecast models and put that much specificity on this. we are not going to the bank on the idea that we are getting a huge soaking rain storm 10 days from now. the way that it is working out, it is light rain from each of the first three. still really good news.
