charges in the capitol trial investigation. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne marie green. after two weeks of tears and testimony, the homicide trial of kyle rittenhouse is in the hands of the jury. lawyers from both sides made their best case to the jury of 12. today, that jury will begin deliberating. we have more from new york. >> good morning. 500 national guard troops are standing by in kenosha, wisconsin as the community awaits a verdict. that could come down as early as today. >> jury deliberations begin today in kyle rittenhouse's homicide trial. briefly serving on the defense team. >> this is an extremely divisive case. i think people will be unhappy no matter how this comes out. >> during eight days, rittenhouse's own appearance may stand out the most.

>> attorneys for the 18-year-old said he acted in self-defense when he shot three men killing two during protests in wisconsin last year. >> every person who was shot was attacking kyle. one with a skate board. one with his hands. one with his feet. one with a gun. >> prosecutors argued he provoked violence by bringing a firearm. he went to kenosha to help protect local businesses and provide first aid. >> the defendant gets to run around with a gun all night but we aren't supposed to take him as a threat. no. him. >> facing five criminal accounts including first degree homicide. the judge is allowing several lesser charges if they acquit him.

>> one account. dismissed. the possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18. they argue there was a law that had an exception that applied in this case. >> thank you so much. amid rising tensions between the u.s. and china, president biden and his counter part took part in a high-stakes virtual meeting. they met with each other for more than three hours. president biden opened by saying i the goal should be ensured that competition between the two countries does not bare into conflict. they addressed many issues including cyber security. china's human rights issues and the commitment to protect taiwan. earlier in the day, president biden signed the massive infrastructure deal into law putting $550 billion in new money into transportation, broad

band and utilities. >> i truly believe 50 years from now, historians will look back and say that's the moment america began to win the competition of the 21st century. >> funding will go out over a five-year period. it could take months or years for many major projects to start. a defiant steve bannon as he turned himself in on criminal contempt charges. facing charges. he appeared briefly before a judge in washington. the 67-year-old with his lawyer vowed to fight the charges. >> every progressive and liberal in this country that likes freedom of speech and liberty should be fighting for this
