good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with the exploding number of covid cases in the u.s. and the anything wide he have effort. more than 1 million caseses reported in a single day, the surge leading to huge lines like this one outside los angeles. millions more children should be eligible for booster shots. laurena podesta is in washington, d.c. with more. >> here in d.c., the virus is running rampant. some say we have the highest risk here. more than 2,000 new cases reported daily. this number expected to climb in the coming weeks. >> reporter: food and drug administration authorized the pfizer booster for children 12 to 15 and 5 to 11 year olds who are immuno compromised.

breaking overnight, two of the biggest u.s. wireless companies have agreed to delay their roll out of 5 g technology over airline safety concerns. verizon and at&t are pushing the start back to january 19. the companies built their newest service using radio signals that federal regulators say could interfere with equipment pilots use to land planes in poor weather. after seven days of deliberations, a jury convicted elizabeth homes charged. p on four counts of conspiracy. acquitted on four other felony charges. the jury was dead locked on three other charges. holmes was convicted of defrauding investors with false claims about her blood testing startup. she faces up to 20 years in prison. >> the average sentence for one count of wire fraud was 21 months.
