fire yesterday inside a medical building on a hospital campus. at least four people were killed and multiple others wounded. investigators say the shooter is also dead. there is no word on a motive. bradley blackburn is here in new york with the latest on this. sadly, we're talking about there again. good morning. >> reporter: we are, anne-marie. good morning. police say the shooting started just before 5:00 p.m. in tulsa, and they responded to that hospital within minutes and directly confronted the gunman before he apparently turned his weapon on himself. police swarmed the st. francis health system campus in tulsa, oklahoma, wednesday afternoon following reports of a gunman. >> the officers that did arrive were hearing shots in the building, and that's what directed them to the second floor. >> reporter: authorities say the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound but not before he killed four people. >> he had one long gun, a rifle, and one handgun. >> reporter: police arrived on

scene just three minutes after the 911 call. >> i also want to express our community's profound gratitude for the broad range of first responders who did not hesitate. >> reporter: for those on the campus, they say it drew an instant reminder of last week's school shooting in uvalde, texas. >> like what's going on with the world these days? >> the doctor's office, you can't go nowhere no more without something happening. it's crazy. >> reporter: kevin forrestal's wife was in the building for a procedure. >> and of course as vast as the complex is, the first thought you're going to have is oh, my god, that -- is it where she is or somewhere else? luckily she was safe. >> reporter: so far this year there have been a dozen shootings in the u.s. where four or hear people have been killed according to a database by the "associated press," "usa today," and northeastern university. officials have not yet identified the gunman or the victims. a tulsa police captain also said

that while multiple other people were wounded, anne-marie, none of those wounds are considered life-threatening. >> thank you so much. >> reporter: you bet. the shooting in tulsa comes just eight days after 21 people were killed at a texas elementary school. those funerals continue today as well as the investigation into the police response. mourners gathered at a uvalde church yesterday to say good-bye to one of two teachers killed in the attack, irma garcia. she was buried alongside her husband joe who died two days later from a heart attack. ou havcelebratedirmoh. another funeras hurcone ofh tu 10-year-old jose flores jr. he received a certificate for h. meanwhile, the school district's police chief, pete arredondo, says that he's talking daily with investigators looking into the police response. that contradicts the claim by

state law enforcement that he had stopped cooperating. and there was a split verdict in the defamation trial of actor johnny depp and his ex-wife amber heard. a virginia jury agreed with depp's contention that heard defamed him in a 2018 op-ed she wrote claiming that she was a survivor of domestic abuse. now depp said the article, which did not mention him by name, damaged his career. the "pirates of the caribbean" star who was not in the courtroom yesterday was awarded more than $10 million in damages. in a statement, depp said, "the jury gave me my life back. i am truly humbled." >> today's verdict confirms what we have said from the beginning -- that the claims against johnny depp are defamatory and unsupported by any evidence. >> the jury also found that heard was defamed by one of depp's lawyers when he accused her of creating a detailed hoax. heard was awarded $2 million in damages. afterwards she posted a statement on social media saying, "i'm sad i lost this case, but i am sadder still that

i seem to have lost a right i receiving covid vaccines. pfizer says it's submitted its application requesting emergency use authorization for the vaccine. in preliminary data, pfizer says the vaccine for children aged 6 months to 4 years is 80% effective in preventing kids from getting sick. it is one-tenth the strength of the adult dose, and three shots are required. an fda committee will meet later this month to consider both pfizer and moderna's vaccines for kids. if approved young children could get their first shots this month. and celebrations are getting under way in britain today to mark queen elizabeth's record 70 years on the throne. ahead of the event, buckingham palace released a new photo of the queen. it was taken in the private apartments at her windsor castle home where she now spends most of her time. yesterday the queen said that she was inspired by the outpouring of goodwill ahead of the festivities.

ian lee joins us now from london. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. you know, we couldn't ask for better weather. it is just gorgeous. the perfect way to kick off this platinum jubilee. that balcony with the bunting, that will be the focal point of today's celebration, but over the next four days we are going to see an extravaganza fit for, well, a queen. ♪ not a moment to spare preparing for queen elizabeth's big jubilee bash, her armed forces rehearsing around the clock for a once in a, well, more than a lifetime party. >> it's a massive milestone. no british monarch in history has ever reached a platinum jubilee, and we are unlikely to ever see it again. >> reporter: the 96-year-old queen took the throne 70 years ago. the closest runner-up is her great, great grandmother, victoria, who served 63 years. most brits today have never known another monarch.

>> i just think it's an amazing thing that the queen's been on the throne for 70 years. it's quite historic. >> reporter: the jubilee is a four-day national celebration here filled with concerts, street parties, and packed full of british pride. >> i am a queen fan. i think it just reminds me of like good memories from childhood of doing all the jubilee stuff at school. >> reporter: the queen isn't getting around as easily as she used to, so she won't attend every event. but she is setting time aside for family, like prince harry and meghan who flew in from california with their two children. >> it's likely that her and meghan will visit the queen for lilibet's 1st birthday. she's never met her before. i think that will be an extraordinary meeting. how sweet will that be? >> reporter: speaking of sweet, what's a party without a pudding, as brits call it. the jubilee's official dessert, a seven-layer lemon trifle in honor of the queen's seven decades of service. anne-marie, there are two times we could possibly see the queen

today. we will have the trooping of the color, essentially you'll have 1,500 troops, 350 horses parading around. now the queen is 96 years old and has difficulty moving around so she won't be attending that. instead, it will be her son, prince charles, her grandson, prince william, as well as her daughter, princess anne. they're going to be taking that royal salute. but the queen isn't going to be left out. once they are finished, they're going to be trooping down at the mall and walking past buckingham palace. that's when we'll possibly get a glimpse of the queen right there on that balcony with the bunting. also at 1:00 today. in the number of hours, there's going to be a flyover by the royal air force. again, that's when we could also see the queen. anne-marie? >> it's going to be quite a bash, and it's just begun. this is just day one, ian. >> reporter: it is. a lot -- a lot of activities, a lot of celebrations up in the days ahead.

would free hinckley from all remaining restrictions as long as he continued to do well living in virginia. the reagan foundation said it strongly opposes hinckley's release. there's an update on the next baby formula shipment from overseas, and an accused mass shooter in buffalo was indicted. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." the "buffalo news" reports that the man accused of killing ten black people in a racially motivated supermarket shooting faces a 25-count indictment including a domestic terrorism charge and hate crime charges. 18-year-old payton gendron is scheduled to be arraigned today in new york state. yesterday a grand jury indicted him on several charges including ten counts of first-degree murder. he was also charged with attempted murders of three people who survived. and the "associated press" reports president biden says he was not informed early on about the possibility of a nationwide shortage of baby formula. yesterday mr. biden said that he was not briefed about the severity of the situation until

the dow lost 176. the nasdaq was down 86. the s&p 500 losing 30. the second most powerful executive at facebook is leaving. sheryl sandberg says she's departing from parent company meta in the fall. she'll leave a 14-year tenure but will remain on the firm's board. the harvard grad who's worth an estimated $1.6 billion will be replaced by meta's longtime chief growth officer. the education department is canceling nearly $6 billion in student loans for those who went to corinthian colleges. it affects some 560,000 borrowers. previously one of the largest for-profit education companies, the schools have been accused of predatory and unlawful practices and have faced numerous lawsuits. corinthian filed for bankruptcy and closed in 2015. and father's day is 2.5 weeks away. if you plan to buy a gift for dad, you are not alone. americans are expected to spend
