florida. yesterday, a federal judge who authorized the search warrant said that there are portions of the affidavit that could possibly be unsealed. he also ordered the justice department to release other records, which included the alleged crimesed th include willful retention of national defense information, the concealment or removal of government records, and obstruction of a federal investigation. bradley blackburn is here in new bradley, good morning.of this.- >> hey, ann marie, good morning. the doj had argued that releasing that affidavit could compromise ongoing investigations, but yesterday, the judge did not agree. he said he is inclined to unseal some of it, and asked the doj to prepare a version of the affidavit that plaques out sensitive details. but he will have the final authority. >> reporter: federal magistrate judge bruce reinhart is giving the justice department one week to propose redactions to the affidavit, which led to the search of president trump's residence in mar-a-lago. >> judge reinhart seemed to have

a very good sense that it is his job as the gatekeeper in this case, to perform his function of balancing the interest in the public of accessing these materials against the interest in the government in keeping them secret. >> reporter: on thursday, attorneys representing media organizations including cbs news asked the judge to make parts of the affidavit behind the search warrant public. the justice department pressed for it to be seealed, arguing that its release would undermine an investigation that's still in its early stages. >> for the most part, we're not going to see the core of what we're all very interested in. none of which will be good news for former president trump. >> reporter: the development comes a little more than a week after the fbi seized classified and top-secret information during the search. in other trump legal woes, the former chief financial officer of the trump organization pleaded guilty to not paying taxes on $1.5 million in compensation. >> i have a message for donald trump -- >> allen weisselberg would now

be called to testify if a case against the trump organization goes to trial. on social media, a trump spokesman said the american public should be permitted to see the whole affidavit, without sections blacked out. but interestingly, his attorneys did not make that case in court. a trump attorney was present in the courtroom, but just to observe the proceedings. anne-marie? >> interesting. bradley blackburn in new york, thank you. >> thank you. in california, at least two people are dead after two small planes collided midair. the faa said the pilots were attempting to land at a municipal airport near monterey bay yesterday. they were about 200 feet in the air when they crashed, that's according to a witness. no one on the ground was injured. the airport, which does not have a control tower, has four runways. the faa and ntsb are investigating. and federal health officials are boosting the supply of monkeypox vaccine, as the virus continues to spread. the cdc says there are more than 14,000 cases in the u.s.,

including at least a dozen children who have been infected. tanya rivero has more. >> reporter: the white house says an additional 1.8 million doses of the monkeypox vaccine will be available starting monday, as cases of monkeypox are up over 30% from just a week ago. >> thanks for coming in. >> thank you, sir. >> and yet, cdc director, dr. rochelle walensky, admits the government is still studying the vaccine's efficacy. >> to be clear, we're learning how well these vaccines work against monkeypox and in tecifo. >> reporter: the cdc is also encouraging the switch to injecting just below the skin to stretch doses up to five times. >> all righty. >> reporter: 20-year-old edward o'keefe finally received his first dose at this new jersey clinic. >> there weren't any appointments available. soy found that pretty frustrating and maybe a little scary. >> reporter: more than 50% of cases are among men of color. >> we're not reaching men who

have sex with men who are black and brown the way that we need to. >> reporter: and now cases among children are starting to rise. so far, 12 children have been infected. >> children are at higher risk for severe monkeypox. it can even be deadly in very young children. the most likely source of exposure for kids in the united states to monkeypox is going to be through a caregiver. >> reporter: the administration is also launching a new program, setting aside 50,000 vaccine doses for large events, such as the upcoming black pride in atlanta and southern decadence in new orleans, where one of the main events was just canceled due to monkeypox concerns. tanya rivero, cbs news, new york. well, a key witness in the r. kelly trial in chicago said that the singer abused her hundreds of times before she turned 18. the woman, who is now 37, took the stand yesterday, saying publicly for the first time that she was in the videotape at the center of kelly's 2008 child

pornography trial. she said that she was 14 when the video was made. kelly was aqucquitted in the 20 trial because the jury said the girl did not testify. prosecutors allege that kelly paid off the girl and her parents. she's scheduled to be cross-examined by kelly's defense team today. deshaun watson released a settlement with the league over sexual misconduct allegations. the cleveland browns' quarterback was fined $5 million and suspended for the first 11 games of the season. he was accused of sexual misconduct by 24 women. all but one of the civil cases was settled. yesterday, watson apologized and said it's time to look to the future. >> my whole life, i've just had to be able to move forward and that's the plan. i have to be able to move forward with my career, move forward with my family, with my personal life and everything. >> an arbitrator initially handed down a six-game suspension, but the nfl appealed and asked for a suspension of one year.

watson will be eligible to return to the browns on december 4th, against his former team, the houston texans. and three men have been charged in the murder of notorious crime boss, james "whitey" bulger. the charges against freddy geas, paul decallger roe, and sean mckinnon come near four years after bulger's death. he was struck in the head in a prison in virginia. he became one of the nation's most wanted fugitives after more than 16 years on the run. he ran a mob in boston in the 1970s and '80s and was also an fbi informant. well, coming up, mess at the mall. how this vehicle ended up on the second floor of a shopping mall. and security scare. why apple is urging users to update their devices right away. this is the "cbs morning news." health officials in nebraska believe a child likely died from a rare infection caused by a brain-eating amoeba. the child, whose age was not released, may have been infectd while swimming in the elkhorn river on sunday. if confirmed, it could be the second death in the midwest this summer from that infection. the cdc says that there are only about three cases a year in the u.s. and they're almost always fatal. a man survives an alligator attack and the suspect in the stabbing of solomon rushdie appears in court. "the washington post" reports a grand jury indicted the man accused of attacking author salman rushdie. 24-year-old hadid matter appeared in a new york state courtroom yesterday. he pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and assault. a judge denied bail. rushdie was stabbed a dozen times while on stage last week before a scheduled speaking engagement. the 75-year-old suffered liver and nerve damage and may lose an eye.

"the miami herald" reports on a florida firefighter and paramedic who survived an alligator attack. the 34-year-old man who goes by the name j.t. defeats was bitten in the head by a 12-foot alligator while swimming in a lake near tampa earlier this month. he said that his entire head and upper chest were inside the gator's mouth. side, completely. an unbelievable amount of faith in myself, that i wasn't going to die. i was going to be okay. but i needed to act, for sure. >> defeatsruggled and rolled in water with the gator before it let go. he then swam to a nearby dock. he suffered extensive head injuries and a broken jaw. and "the boston globe" says that an elderly woman drove her suv on to the second floor of a massachusetts shopping mall. security camera shows the vehicle slowly moving inside the mall yesterday. police say the disoriented woman entered the mall from a garage via a pedestrian bridge.

here's a here's a look at today's forecast in some cities around the country. a runaway bull caused panic in peru. the animal broke loose from a truck, taking it to a slaughterhouse in lima on wednesday. it store through store fronts and local businesses. one person was hurt. the bull was finally wrangled after about 40 minutes. it's not clear what happened to it after that. scientists are trying to figure out how one of the world's largest moths made its

way to the u.s. the atlas moth has a 10" wingspan and normally lives in tropical climates. one of them was found in washington state last month and turned over to the u.s. department of agriculture. scientists believe it is the first such moth to be found here and they don't know if there are anymore. it does not pose a risk to people. and police in plano, texas, got quite the detailed look at a suspect that they were searching for when a portrait artist was robbed. gene dillard said that he was painting in his gallery last weekend when someone walked in. when he later realized his laptop was gone, he quickly made a sketch of the suspect and pappapt e painted a portrait of the thief and gave it to police. >> it will be interesting if the fellow is caught, to see how well i got the likeness. to me, that would be more important than anything else, to see if i really, you know, nailed the likeness. >> reporter: no word on whether the thief, if he is caught, will
