>> a world war ii veteran shares veteran shares his secret to a long and happy life now at 170 years old and counting. good morning it is sunday september 11th. thank you for joining us. we begin with a major development in the murder of an 8-year-old girl. police arrested arrested a suspect in the murder murder of 8-year-old sophia mason. >> reporter: this is 33-year-ole jackson, he is facing murder and murder and child abuse charges in the death of his girlfriends child, 8-year-old sophia mason. she was found dead in a bathtub in march after police searched his home. her mother, samantha johnson, was arrested at that time and charged with murder and and child abuse. melanie is

has been near the mosquito fire where we are looking at unhealty levels. in fact, it is still in the hazardous category for much of lake tahoe today. that is a significant story for that part of the state. the air-quality is is awful along the north shore of lake tahoe. they are just trd with it. as far as the temperatures here at home, it is is 70 degrees in livermore, 72 in san jose. daytime highs todae going to be a little bit warmer than yesterday. as a result we y see some numbers climb into the low 90s today. we may make it up up into the 91, 92 degree rangea rosa ghost 87. we will see temperatures along the peninsuln the mid-80s. picking up on the possibility of a few light show. there is not really a lot to th. to this. when we put it into high resolution futurecast template it forward we might see see a straight shower or two this morning. certainly another

round of isolated thunderstorms in the sierra today. all of this left over form what was once tropical storm kay, it is still trying to throw some light rain our way. we might see some showers return on monday. you can see what is happening to the the energy, there goes that system. it still has a counterclockwise to spin to it.e atmosphere over california is working with this right now to produce some of that rain. it wt be enough rain to put out the fires burning in the sierra. that big purple swatch of their shows you the point source for the highest concentration of smoke coming off of the mosquito mosquito fire. this is the upper upper levels of the atmosphere. it's a good news in terms of the the atmosphere's ability to move move the smoke away from us. clearing out the majority of the of the smoke down here by tomor. we should have much better air

you can clearly see the marine layer out there because that line shows you everything below it where the air is trapped witn the believed layer. there's also also a lot of humidity which is why it is showing out. that is what moderate will look like in the early morning hours and a little bit of smoke to look at.t is moderate here so that is the way we will take it. is going to to get better. i will show you how the air quality is going to improve. a different story on the other side of the state where a significant air quality is playing out for anyone in the the lake tahoe basin. it has been consistently reading at has levels for 24 hours. not a good place to be. very typical times for the north shore of lake tahoe. in terms of our temperatures, it is relatively warm. low 70s. san jose, 72. livermore, 70. it is a relatively warm start for the d. the day. daytime highs climbing into the low 90s for some of our

our warmest locations. made 80s in south bay. a lot of 70s to low 80s on the bay shore line. the doppler shows you a few light showers showin, none of these are of major consequence, we don't have enouh energy for these to develop into into a lightning storm. it would storm. it would just be a few light showers. that possibility stays with us for the next 12 hours or more. watching the futurecast you see a few light showers show up sporadically. or in the sierra, perhaps the possibility for an occasional lightning strike as thunderstorms develop over there. not enough rain to make a make a big enough impact on that that mosquito fire which is the fire responsible for all of that that smoke in tahoe. at least humidity levels will be fairly elevated. when there is wind, is a mixed bag. firefighters still have their hands full in that f. rain is really overstaying this. this. it will be a few drops.
