well, good morning and good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. the national mourning in the uk continues today in memory of queen elizabeth ii. here you can see the queen's coffin at st. giles' cathedral in edinburgh, scotland. a memorial s h majesty was held er stood i lon ian is windsor ctle what t expt today. ian, good morning. >>orter:ood morning, anne-marie. eventually all eyes are going to be on london. the queen's body is going to be flown from scotland, escorted by her daughter anne, and escorted to london and received by her son king charles. queen elizabeth returns to england today after the nation's longest reigning monarch died at her estate in balmoral last week. on monday thousands passed by her flag-draped coffin.

another busy day. he's going to northern ireland to receive condolences and then flying back to london to receive his mother's body. she'll be in buckingham palace overnight and then be escorted to westminster hall where she'll lie in state for four days. when queen elizabeth started her reign in 1952, she was the head of 52 countries. that figure now stands at 15. david cameron was asked whether he expects more countries to drop king charles iii as head of state. >> ultimately it's their decision, but i think people can see and they see this week having a constitutional monarchy where your head of state is above politics and a symbol of unity and service and duty and politicians can fight out issues underneath that, it's a good system. it's served us well and it's served others well too.

>> cameron is one of 15 prime ministers who served during queen elizabeth's 70-year reign. well breaking overnight, the justice department said it would accept one of trump's four proposed candidates to serve as special master to review classified documents seized by the fbi at mar-a-lago last month. former new york federal chief raymond deary is acceptable. a federal judge will decide though. it comes as trump's attorneys are also asking that same judge to continue the order to freeze the doj's criminal investigation into the classified material until the independent special master conducts the review. and sources tell cbs news that more than 30 people associated with trump have received federal grand jury subpoenas. it's in connection with the justice department's investigation into the origins of the u.s. capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election. in at least two instances,

agents executed search warrants that allowed them to seize individuals' cellphones. the mar-a-lago investigation is also linked to threats of violence. according to court documents, a texas woman was arrested last week for allegedly making death threats against the federal judge overseeing the case. the woman is accused of leaving three emails for the judge days after she agreed to trump's request to appoint a special master. the man isaccuseof threatening trump. breaking overnight, a tentative deal has been reached to end the four-day-old seattle teacher union strike. they announced the agreement late last night. more than 6,000 teachers and staff went on strike last week on what was supposed to be the first day of school. union members will vote on the deal today. no word yet on when classes might resume. and now to the war in ukraine where russia continues to b pushed back in the country's east. in fact, russia has now suffered

cruise off the central k coast last week were treated to an incredible close-up encounter from one of three whales that approached. the boat was not moving when one of the boaters said the whale gave the vessel a kiss. the first monkeypox death has been confirmed in the u.s., and there was a tragedy in coney island. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. our new york city station w cbs says the police believe a mother may have drowned her three young children on a beach near the iconic coney island boardwalk. relatives called police yesterday morning concerned that the 30-year-old mother might harm her children. she was found barefoot and soaking wet about 90 minutes later. the bodies of her three children all under the age of 7 were found two miles away. the mother was questioned and taken to the hospital, and there's no word on criminal charges. the "los angeles times" says anhad beospitaunty reported thed

overworked and underpaid and are demanding more nurses be hired to improve patient care. their strike is slated to last three days. and there's a strike looming on railroads come friday, and already freight railroads have stopped accept about shift. some 50,000 are set to go on strike. the irs is setting refunds. they're going to more than a million americans who filed their taxes late in the early days of the covid-19 pandemic. taxpayers who already filed their taxes do not need to do anything. the refunds total $1.2 billion. that's an average of 750 bucks per person. it appears twitter shareholders will approve the elon musk takeover deal. the deadline for the shareholder vote on the deal is today, but enough investors had voted by last night for the outcome to b certain. musk said he is not going ahead with the acquisition. the two sides are set to battle it out in court next month. that is your "cbs moneywatch" report for this tuesday morning. i'm matt peiper, cbs news, new
