played running back. he was from southern california. this comes a day before he and his team were set to travel to new mexico to take on new mexico state. the bus involved belonged to the san jose unified school district, carrying about 14 students at the time of the crash. none of the students were injured and were able to get on another school bus to go to school. >> at this point we don't know who is at fault here it is something we will continue to investigate. we can't stress enough the importance of pedestrian safety. >> san jose state said the campus is grieving together, and counselor support is available for students and staff. that schedule new mexico state game scheduled this weekend is now pending. san jose state says it will do what it needs to for its students. there will be more tonight with dog when .

this is on stockbridge avenue, investigators have been there since last i tried to figure this one out. the county crime scene lab brought in cadaver dogs, because they picked up a sense of possible human remains. a car four feet underground may have been there since the '90s. so far they say they are not going to report any evidence of a crime, and they want to make it clear. they save the current owners have no connection to that car. house committee investigating the january 6th attack on the capital just subpoenaed former president donald trump. skyler henry picks up from here on capitol hill. >> hey, reed, good to see you. members feel as if they have overwhelming evidence, including from the former president 's appointees and staff, that he was personally responsible and oversaw the multipronged effort to try and

overturn the 2020 presidential election. now they are calling on him to testify under oath. >> there are nine ayes, zero no's. >> nearly a week after voting p , the panel wrote it had assembled overwhelming evidence that he personally orchestrated and oversaw a multipart effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and to obstruct the peaceful transition of power. >> we must seek the testimony under oath. >> the committee demanded the former president testifying under oath by november 14, they also requested he provide documents including personal communication he had with members of congress and extremist groups. the subpoena comes the same day a judge sentenced steve bennett to four months in prison for defying a subpoena from the committee. outside the courthouse the

bay. inland temperatures are in the 60s, north of the golden gate, only around 70 at san jose, low 70s for the warmer spots in east bay, and temperatures are a good 10 to 15 degrees below where we were on thursday except in san francisco and half moon bay, that cooldown kicked in already yesterday. temperatures will be lower as we head into the weekend. saturdays hi temperatures are a good several degrees higher, but saturday and sunday , the winds are going to be noticeable somewhat of a factor as we plan ahead for activity. we will track those wind gusts coming up in the full forecast. >> thank you so much and happy friday. the 49ers got a big boost to many of you in the bay area. more on the return of christian mccaffrey with andrea nakano. >> the 49ers acquiring christian mccaffrey from the

call it wall street relief, nice way to end the week, the dow is up 748 points today, the nasdaq gained 244, and the s&p 500 was up about 87. been talking about this story and a bit lately, twitter is refuting reports elon musk planned wide company layoffs after buying it, so damage control. about 7500 of the social media company employees would lose their jobs once that purchase goes through. however, corporate documents do say that even if elon musk doesn't buy the company executives plan to cut costs by about $800 million. you're watching that close, we know it matters to you and your families. a san francisco woman who started her own business is on a mission to help other women who are struggling, specifically, single parents. census figures out there show about 1 in 4 children in the united states live in a single-parent household. kpix 5's len ramirez introduces you

all things 49ers, watch the red and gold report tonight at 7:30 right here on kpix 5 and streaming on cbs news bay area. let's check the weather into the weekend, chief meteorologist, paul heggen? >> it might be a bit chilly tonight. we can certainly hope this next storm system will bring us rain. it is delivering to the pacific northwest, but it's going to be a dry cold front driven through the bay area overnight into early tomorrow morning. the bulk of the energy with the storm system will slide to the great basin. it is going to be cooler, definitely breezy, as we head into the weekend, but unfortunately nothing more than a few passing sprinkles in terms of moisture, but just cooler weather to enjoy after the record-setting temperatures we had a few days ago. we will freeze the maps early tomorrow with passing clouds, but the best chance of showers is going to be in the high sierra, and even there it won't amount to a whole lot, maybe a dusting of snow, maybe enough rain to wet the ground. then we will see sunshine to the rest of the

weekend, the next system lining up for the pacific northwest is also going to miss us to the north. wind gusts are noticeable, they will be noticeable this evening, tapering off , and watch the sun tomorrow, wind gusts will be in the 20-30 mile-an-hour range inland, while on the coast we are talking about 30 to 45-mile-an-hour wind gusts. those will die down once the sun goes down, but then it will pick right back up with the msu getting squeezed by the proximity of the storm system, 25-35 mile-an-hour gusts. we do have to watch the fire danger, but it doesn't look like it will be off the charts , because that intrusion of marine air into the inland parts of the bay area over the past couple of nights. the marine air has refused to budge around san francisco, only 59, low 60s across the bay and oakland. inland

temperatures, 60s and 70s in santa rosa to low 70s inland and the east bay. tonight we'll retreat to the 50's, slightly above average with a layer of clouds moving and acting like a blanket holding in some warmth near the ground, but temperatures tomorrow, 5 to 10 degrees below normal. 60 along the coast, mid 60s around the bay, a mix of upper 60s and low to mid 70s further inland, similar temperatures again on sunday. so if you have some other plans for instance, going to dog fast and oakland from 11:00-4:00, the high temperature will breach the 60s. despite the sunshine breaking through in the afternoon though, it will be breezy. let's take a look at the seven-day forecast. no major changes around the bay, san francisco, and oakland, and not too much change to san jose. it will be cooler than average weather pattern over the next several days, kind of a nice change from the substantially above average temperatures. cool air will
