air drills involving hundreds of warplanes. the man accused of breaking into house speaker nancy pelosi's san francisco home and attacking her husband told police he was on a suicide mission. that's according to court documents. david depape pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail yesterday during his arraignment. he appeared in court with a sl l em the criminal complaint describes how depape told investigators that he was going to holdnn to break her kneecaps if she lied to him. he also told police that he had plans to target other politicians. sources tell cbs news the police family will review 911 -- the 911 call from the night of the attack along with police body camera video. and police in houston are asking for the public's help to identify the shooter or shooters who killed a member of the grammy-nominated hip-hop group

migos. investigators say the 28-year-old rapper known as takeoff was killed yesterday when a fight broke out as he was leaving a party. elise preston has more. >> reporter: police in houston say they are in the early stages of their investigation into a deadly shooting outside a bowling alley that killed a member of the at least hip-hop group migos. >> i got many calls from houston and out of houston, and everyone spoke of what a great young man this is, how peaceful he is. >> reporter: a representative for the 28-year-old rapper known as takeoff confirmed his death. >> we have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time. >> reporter: born kirshnik khari ball, he was a member of migos along with his cousin offset and his uncle quavo. they had a string of hits including "versace," ranked ads one of the 50 best songs of 2013 by "spin" magazine. both takeoff and berief quavo wa

private party. when they left a fight started, and there were gunshots. >> the shooting took place from the disagreement. a lot of the people that were there fled the scene. >> in that group, somebody, people know who the actual shooter or shooters were. >> reporter: police are reviewing surveillance video in the area as they search for the shooter. elise preston, cbs news. parkland, florida, scooter nikolas cruz will be formally sentenced today to life in prison. yesterday survivors and families of the 17 people killed at marjorie stoneman douglas high school in 2018 spoke to cruz face to face at his sentencing hearing. some expressed anger that he did not receive the death penalty. >>kland murd, i thi maker sends you directly to hell to burn for the rest of your eternity. >> we hope that you, the monster

who did this to our son, endure a painful existence in your remaining days. >> some of the families also criticized cruz's lawyers for arguing that he should be spared the death penalty because his mother's drug and alcohol aabuse during pregnancy left him brain damaged. a kansas woman who led an isis battalion in syria was sentenced. 42-year-old allison fluke-ekren admitted that she led the battalion where 100 women and girls learned how to use automatic weapons and detonate grenades and suicide belts. some of the girls were as young as 10 year old. she pleaded guilty earlier this year to providing material support to isis. supreme court chief justice john roberts temporarily blocked former president donald trump from having to turn over his personal tax returns to congress. trump had filed an emergency appeal asking the court to stop the treasury department from giving his returns to the

enough seats in parliament to give him a victory. it was israel's fifth national election in less than four years. netanyahu, who was ousted as prime minister last year, is facing corruption charges right now. final results are expected later on this week. the phillies tie a home run record in game three of the world series, and the search is under way for a shooter who wounded two new jersey police officers. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." "the newark star ledger" reports two police officers were shot by a gunman at close range. that's according to the mayor. officials say the officers were looking for a suspect in connection with another shooting at an apartment building yesterday. the mayor says the officers encountered the suspect in a parking lot as they were leaving and were shot. they're both in stable condition. after the shooting, heavily armed police swarmed the area looking for the gunman. >> to see literally all of these squad cars and everyone coming outside, full gear, helmets,

ar-15s, shotguns, shields, what is going on, and why is it happening in a residential neighborhood with kids? >> police have not found the shooter. "reuters" says five lions slipped away from their enclosure at a zoo in sydney, australia, sending guests running to safety. an alert was issued after video footage showed one adult lion and four cubs outside of their enclosure but still in an area separated from the rest of the zoo by a fence. the zoo issued an alert and told guests participating in an overnight stay were told to run from their tents. one cub was tranquilized minutes later, but the other lions returned on their own. and the "philadelphia enquirer" said the phillies bashed a record tying five homers to route the astros 7-0. designated hitter bryce harper slugged his sixth post season home run as the phils took a 2-1 lead in the series. they also hit back-to-back

successfully landed next to each other. an fcc commissioner wants to ban tiktok, and get your tickets ready for one of the biggest lottery jackpots in u.s. history. dan lieberman has those stories and more in today's cbs "money watch" report. >> reporter: wall street closed lower tuesday as investors assessed better than expected economic data and prepared for another likely rate hike from the federal reserve. the dow was down 79. nasdaq lost 97. e mareg poinnouncingoints. what's expected to be another interest rate hike, its fourth in a row, intended to cool s for on. today, fed chair jerome powell could signal a shift to smaller rate increases. this would give officials more time to assess the impact of the hikes. an fcc commissioner is calling on congress to ban tiktok over concerns that user data could end up in the hands

of the chinese government. 105 commissioners of the fcc brendan carr believes a ban is the only path forward. he wrote letters to apple and google earlier this year asking them to remove tiktok from their app stores due to concerns about data harvesting. tiktok is owned by bite dance which is based in china. a spokesperson for the company said they're confident they are on a path to reaching an agreement with the u.s. government that will, quote, satisfy all reasonable national security concerns. who wants to be a billionaire? another powerball lottery drawing wednesday night worth $1.2 billion. that's your cbs "money watch" report for this wednesday morning. i'm dan lieberman, cbs news, new york. a very rare first printing of the u.s. constitution will be auctioned off next month. there are only 13 of these copies that were handed out to the delegates of the constitutional convention left in existence. 11 of them are in museums. the other privately owned copy

lena horne has become the first black woman to have a broadway theater named after her. the brooks atkinson theatre was renamed the lena horne theater. her career spanned more than 70 years as an acclaimed performer on stage and screen and was known for her activism fighting for civil rights. his granddaughter spoke at yesterday's ceremony. >> it's very emotional. i didn't realize how emotional it was until i started speaking about it. my grandmother would have pretended not to be as thrilled as she was. she would have been completely, completely thrilled. >> lena horne died in may of 2010 at the age of 92. and it seems oscar-winning actor lupita nyongo is going back to the dark side. she is set to star in "a quiet place day one," due out next month. -- next haerch. the movie is a spinoff of the blockbuster horror flicks "a quiet place" and "a quiet place part two." she already made her mark in the
