fair, but ensure there is accountability for those who choose to commit crimes in our city. specked the city's election department says it will be releasing the next round of results around 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. we will be there. two , prop 26 in prop 27 lost, and lost big. one would have expanded gambling options, the other would have allowed you to make a bet on your phone. prop 26 lost by a 40% margin . that would have allowed sports betting and casinos of certain racetracks, it would have also offered well and i schemes. its companion, prop 27, would have taken it a step further and legalized online sports betting for both tribes and online gambling companies. it also would have allowed gamblers to that bet on award shows. supporters of

prop 30 included oakland mayor libby schaaf , and they said it would have funded much needed climate projects. that was the sell to you the voter pick governor gavin newsom posted, saying it would have funneled money to lyft that would have let it buy more electric cars. a ban the california legislature dealt with in 2020. let's talk about first california , and michigan, and vermont pick we all approved measures aimed at protecting abortion rights. kentucky voters rejected an initiative to change their state constitution to say there is no right to abortion pick they tried, it failed pick the state is bannon almost all abortions, but this vote is a victory for abortion rights groups . in montana, where abortion is

is leaning republican with some of the most competitive races not yet called. >> we will be in the majority and nancy pelosi will be in the minority. republicans were expecting a red wave, but that did not materialize, and joe gop candidates backed by former president trump had mixed results. >> people are frustrated from the baggage in the cloud that surrounds any type of term campaign. spike exit polling said their vote was to oppose trump, who is announcing a 2024 run next week. >> and during the question/answer portion of the quest president's remarks, he intends to run again in 2024 regardless of what the outcome of the midterms are, but he also said he doesn't feel any hurry despite what his predecessor does, reed. >> it's been a night of

interesting results. for our viewers, the election deniers, questioning the validity of that election. how did they perform last night? >> well we know that dozens of these gop candidates, who questioned the 2020 election results won their races, but there are a number of races that are still being counted that have not yet been projected. and there were also some very high profile losses, particularly at the statewide level, when you are looking at some of these gubernatorial candidates, one of the gubernatorial races we have been closely watching is the one in arizona, where you had a very outspoken gop candidate, who is a trump loyalist, and also known as an election denier, kari lake. katie

more tech layoffs to report, today. menlo park based meta cutting more than 11,000 workers, that's 13% of their workforce . in a letter to employees released overnight, mark zuckerberg takes responsibility for the job cuts, telling employees he boosted staffing and investment because he anticipated higher revenue growth at the start of the pandemic," , i got this wrong, this , not afton after even a week of twitter cutting employees. >> meta is just kind of the latest victim here. the revenue outlook is lower than expected, and like a lot of other tech companies they are looking to operate more efficiently. so meta really is the latest victim in this trend we've seen with a lot of tech companies like twitter.

>> that was a tech expert by the way. salesforce also cutting jobs on a smaller scale . that company confirmed laid off fewer than 10,000 workers on monday. and we have a look at how the stock market fared today, a day after elections. down all around. the dow dropped 646 points. the nasdaq fell 262, s&p 500, 79. we are learning more about how plastic pollution affects ocean life. a new stanford study shows how much has been eaten by our worlds largest creatures. john ray must looks at how 10 million pieces of micro plastics per day may be ending up in the bellies of blue wales in monterey bay. >> creating plastic pollution can be as innocent as doing a load of laundry, throw some synthetic fabrics into the washing machine, and some of the fibers will get washed down the drain and out into the

ocean. it is those tiny specks grove . spike the thing that surprised me is there was no information out there from living animals, from living wales, as to how much water they filter or how much they eat, and both of those things are absolutely critical to get at this question of how much plastic the wales are eating. >> so they began following the blue and humpback wales in monterey bay. they used drones and high tech sensors to track movements and eating patterns of the wales, and they are truly world-class eaters . >> they eat hundreds of millions of tons of food in the ocean, more than our entire global marine fisheries catch for all the seafood we eat the blue wales ate more than that. >> blue wales are consuming as much is 95 pounds of plastic each day, perhaps 1 billion pieces in the courses of one

feeding season. but, much of that is coming from the wales main food supply, the tiny sea creatures that are, themselves, ingesting plastics on a microscopic level . another member of the research team, dr. f. said he was stunned by the contrast in scales. >> that is what was surprising, these krill and things ti particles are getting enough in them that can magnify in these wales to get these extraordinary numbers. it's amazing. all of this is so new that no one knows how it's affecting the wales , if at all . so for the whale population worldwide is doing pretty well come about whether they will pay a future price for man's absorption and obsession of plastic , remains to be answered. >> if you have a charismatic animal that is ingesting a lot

wind the clock forward into saturday, another wave of moisture trying to move in from the northwest. this is a new feature in the forecast models. they are forecasting this 12 hours ago. we willconsistent picture. we are trending upward. a mix of clouds and nsghnow, upper 50s arou0s, low normal this time of year. tonight it will be frosty, inland valleys dropping the mid to upper thursday 30s, , all inland parts of the bay area are under a frost adviser. if you have out door vegetation you don't want to lose for the season you want to cover that up or bring it inside and make sure animals have a warm place to snuggle up. that will be necessary to the rest of the winter, just start getting into that habit. we are a good six or seven degrees below average, not much variation. mid-50s,
