now on , police are still looking for answers after a mass shooting at an lgbtq club. the shock from the violence rippling across the country. >> it's scary. it's devastating. this is the inevitable outcome of vilifying and dehumanizing the group of people. another weekend of sideshows in the bay area, bouncing from spot to spot. the action police took to try to shut them down. good evening, i'm brian. >> i'm andria. lgbtq communities across the country are mourning up a gunman opened fire inside a bar last night. here in the bay area, like in cities across the country, vigils are being held to remember and honor the five people killed, and dozens more injured. >> the 22-year-old gunman, in custody tonight after walking

into club q , and opening fire with at least two guns. >> we are still working to identify the firearms, and who they belong to, but i cannot can confirm that the suspect used a long rifle. >> things could have been worse if several people had not jumped into action to stop the gunmen. investigators are looking into the suspect background before they decide whether or not to charge him with a hate crime. in the meantime, the bartender at the club described the scene. >> the door from the dance floor to the patio, is a glass door, all that a glass was shattered all over the ground. i saw someone i knew lying there in that broken glass, having been shot in the neck. >> broken glass, bodies. it was -- how? why? how are we supposed to feel safe in our environment when it just got shot up? >> the pain is being felt in our own lgbtq community as

well. >> betty yu went to the castro to get reactions. >> reporter: among the crowd of mourners who came out to harvey milk plaza, here in the castro, for the club q vigil was a drag queen who says she is honoring the victims and fighting back in her own way. >> reporter: at the corner of castro and market, emotions ranged from anger to sadness over the lgbtq nightclub shooting in colorado springs. club q promoted a drag divas drag show on saturday and also plans to hold a drag brunch on sunday, for transgender day of remembrance. >> it never stops. it feels like every step that we make forward, the more progress we make, the harder people push back, and it is all based on fear. the hatred and fear of people they don't understand, because i think they look different from them. >> sister has been an entertainer and activist for

35 years in san francisco. she says she knows she does not have to leave san francisco to find people who are not thrilled with the community. >> i do a lot of big outlook events. i'm at the main stage on severed cisco pride, and you have in the back of your mind, gee, i wonder if anything crazy will happen. but, we cannot let the terrorists, and that's what these people are, stop us from being our authentic and true selves. i got up today and i did this, to sort of say, to these people. >> reporter: club q called the shooting a hate attack. investigators are still investigating the motive and whether to prosecute it as a hate crime. still, the lgbtq community including supervisor scott women came together to call for action. >> i am mad. this is enough, already. >> that's right. >> enough. we can put as much sorrow in words to the people. what does that do? >> some speakers urged people to vote to seek change. when

five years ago, a wildfire destroyed parts of santa rosa. for many homeowners, that rebuilding process has been slow. >> innovation to the rescue, the company has come up with a faster way to build homes that are also fire resistant. john ramos shows us some other high-tech features, as well. >> reporter: the bells and whistles in this model home in santa rosa naked feel like the house of the future. but, with the way climate change is affecting this area, it is very much the house of today.

>> reporter: on days like this, with a low fire danger, the impacts of wildfire might be out of sight, out of mind. but, five years after the deadly tubs fire, those who are still rebuilding their homes in the fountain grove area are well aware of the situation. >> where we are in santa rosa, burned down with the 2017 fire, just being able to rebuild quickly enough is a large part of this, as we go forward. >> that is why there was a lot of interest in this open house, today. a company called eval showed off a climate resilient mobile home built out of a factory in days, rather than years. >> you can see the metal coming off of the schools being folded by our machines. they are being fitted into place, and then built within a day. the entire frame is built one day and, the second day, the entire home is put together in a shell. >> reporter: then, the finishing work begins, and

after 24 days a completed house is brought in in pieces and assembled into a finished home. the whole process, start to finish, takes about a month. >> it is definitely an interesting experiment and it is probably where we are headed. a way to make things more efficiently. >> do you ever scratch your head when you see people rebuilding the old way? >> i do, and i often wonder why they would build slower than faster. >> reporter: it is more than just efficient, it is also designed to be climate resilient. outside services are largely fire resistant, and the solar panels and backup battery protect against the frequent threat of power shut off. the house also features an advanced ventilation system that can filter out smoke, and recirculate room air to cut down on the need for heating and air conditioning. >> it is so innovative that even four or five years from now, when other builders have caught up to what they think is futuristic, we will be even further ahead. >> reporter: finally, the house monitors itself for signs of trouble. 300 sensors embedded in the homes walls ,

>> is it because they are closer ? >> yes, because they are closer, primarily. a lot of the smoke is getting pulled into the bay from up north and they get it worse. great innovations. let's talk about the next couple of days. cold tomorrow morning, bottoming out back again down to freezing. current numbers have us in the mid-30s. north of dave alley's, already 36, you are already there. it is 39 in santa rosa. not much lower than that, but you are going lower, back down to 30, we have been doing that these last few mornings. meanwhile, still 50 in the city, 49 in hayward, those numbers will fall to the low 30s as well. below the peninsula, the east bay shore, well into the 30s. we still need heavy jackets to start the day tomorrow, but that is the only issue. once the sun comes up, these are fantastic days. we warm rate back up to average, maybe a few high clouds, doubted even notice. be near 70 in the north bay, and 60s in the south bay, it is going to stay like this right

through thanksgiving, and almost certainly through sunday. sir, it is going to be easy travel in and out, great weather to get outside whatever your plans might be for thursday and friday but i hinted earlier there might be a hint of range rain showing up in the long-range. next monday, not tomorrow, but next monday. if you look at this big picture what is going on in the pacific, all the stones are getting pulled away. if we play this through wednesday we still have serene weather, it is a good-looking storm out here, you put that into the long-range forecast to see what happens there, nothing, but, the next one up here break through the ridge, that's what happens. by the time we get to next monday, november 28th, there is a system that looks promising in the long-range forecast. this was my jerk, earlier. stop me if you've heard this one before. this is why we don't do it day forecast, we do seven day forecast. but, tomorrow, that will start creeping into the seven day. stay o■n op of his with us, we will update this in

sideshows in the east bay. the chaos started in vallejo, then made its way down to richmond. police say it happened just before midnight at the intersection of sonoma and levin. authorities broke up the crowd, but activity picked up in richmond , on central avenue. things also took a violent turn, as witnesses reported hearing gunshots at both locations. cops shut down the sideshow at around 1:30 of the morning, but one of the drivers crashed into a fire hydrant on their way out. no arrests were made. questions are being raised about if biden should run again, as he reaches a milestone no president ever has before. details, when we come back. the clever way a bay area museum got kids and families to come out to enjoy some culture while protecting themselves from covid-19, when we come back.
