joined today by the chamber of commerce, local business leaders and representatives from oakland police. city council will vote on this program for increased funding, next week. we found police present on nearly every corner last night private security, and the ambassador , to try to make popular destinations more safe. the palace of fine arts also getting more security. more police will be deployed along the park and chestnut street seven days a week, that is following the daytime robbery of a wedding photographer earlier this month . the city is also now marking $3000 to pay for police ambassadors, reed. >> of what everybody stays safe out there, and a prime, thank you. the san mateo bridge is over my shoulder. aaa says this year is projected to be the third busiest year for thanksgiving since 2001 for

sierra, i'm always excited about snow. someone has a theory of how this winter will play out. his name is andrew schwartz. he is the lead scientist at the uc berkeley central sierra snow lab. and he hopes mother nature proves his production wrong. expect this winter is looking a lot like last winter. we are warmer than average conditions, more dry than average. >> schwartz keeps an eye on weather trends. here he measures the depth of the snow and how much water is holding. >> california needs an extra year of precipitation to get us out of this drought. >> a steady winter to build a strong snowpack would be a great place to start, but schwartz says it's hard to know what to expect when average conditions are no longer the norm . >> we've been seeing these weather whiplash events throughout snowfall seasons, where we are going from one extreme to the next. last year

was a perfect example. we went from record-breaking october, one of snthowe llmo st we've ever seen, and the driest period ever from january through march. >> that makes managing the drought even more difficult than it already is. >> we base our water condition on current conditions. it makes our jobs a lot harder. >> the lack of average conditions makes other realms of life hard, too. many businesses and towns throughout the sea area and sierra have relied on it. lizzie hopes schwartz office prediction is wrong, too. >> places like this coffee shop and other places in town sort of rely on the tourism aspect of people coming in. so when we don't have any snow, we

dent put into it by temperatures in lake tahoe over the weekend. temperatures topping out in the 50s, warmer than we anticipated, also , low 50s on friday, and temperatures head back down to the weekend. it's that direct sunlight that eats away at the snowpack. overnight temperatures are cold enough to make man-made snow, and i hopes to alleviate the effect. around the bay, it's a cold night in-store, but some patchy clouds floating through, especially along the coast. sunny and warm in store for us. dry conditions through the weekend with passing coats, friday, saturday, sunday, and an unsettled pattern return after that. rain chances don't look as impressive as they did 12 hours ago. a chance of showers on monday, but they look to be brief and less substantial than they were in the previous week's forecast data. a better chance may be shaping up wednesday night into thursday, next week. one of the branches of know what is on the same page. they were anticipating an inch to a quarter inch for the bay area,

now we are showing a little less than 10th avenue an inch. we will keep you updated . we can hope for some rain to finish off november. right now, not a cloud in the sky, temperatures are mostly in the 60s, 70 in concord, 73 in santa rosa, close to 70 in san jose in livermore. these temperatures should be a little warmer tomorrow. tonight we drop down to the most chilly spots in the 30s, inland, north bay and east bay. valley collections of cold air there. then we will warm to above 5 degrees above average. was along the coast will reach the 60s, almost 70 around the south end of the bay. the 70s in the santa clara valley. a few upper 60s in the inland and east bay, most spots reaching lower 70s. san francisco at 68

, and north of the golden gate, look to even mid-70s. and the farther north you go it gets even warmer. 76 degrees, tomorrow afternoon, in windsor. if you are heading to christmas in the park this weekend, downtown san jose looks mild, not as warm as tomorrow, but mid to upper 60s with passing clouds, saturday and sunday. and if you're headed out to the 49ers game against the new orleans saints on sunday, kickoff should be mid 60s, with passing clouds. temperatures will back off next week , slightly below average, monday, tuesday, and wednesday, for the last three days of november. we still have a chance of showers, but don't get your hopes up for soaking rain fall we need across the bay, hopefully to december as we get back into active weather pattern, reed. the 49ers are back from being on the road. as charlie walters shows you, they felt
