here is something you don't see every day, an amazing story of survival in maryland after a small plane crashed into some power lines. the aircraft ended up dangling about 100 feet in the air. look at that. it happened as the pilot was trying to land at an airport in montgomery county. rescuers did save the pilot and passenger, both were trapped inside and both are doing all right, tonight. no word yet on what led up to the crash, which, as you might guess, knocked out power to nearby residents. a double dose of new tonight. >> good way to put it. to focus is really. how likely is rain on thursday, but maybe more important, how cold is it going to get before that rain gets here? it is going to get cold this week. not so much tonight, that is our view from the top , looking out over the city, real pretty. if we put the current numbers on, we will
11:16 pm
see temperatures have already started to dip into the upper 30s in some spots. 39 in petaluma, but mid-40s for many other locations. those numbers, from where they are here, will go down, so that when we bottom out, it is in the mid-30s in santa rosa and will be low 40s just about everywhere else. it is cold, but it will get colder than that but i will show you how this will play out. tuesday and wednesday morning in particular will be pretty cold. daytime highs tomorrow are already lower than that because we are about 10 degrees below where we have been. low 60s, the cooldown. some wind to go along with that as well. you can see the change in how we do this when we look at the big picture. there is a weak little system, a little cold front that will move through tomorrow . all the clouds you can see are coming our way, but in order to visualize the cold air that will get transported, if we -- right around 4000 feet of ground level, what's the temperature there? that's one of the best way to track how colder air is getting transported. you can see the deeper shades of blue getting pulled our way. in addition to that, the lineup gets a little

breezy. sir, the thermometer is 10 degrees cooler, tomorrow, on its own. and then, there is also a 25 mile-per-hour wind at times which will feel cooler. that is the main thing on monday. but, the real cold will come in the mornings on wednesday. we get a bit of snow out of this, by the way, in the sierra. this is late monday into tuesday, it is maybe an inch at donner pass. this is one of the systems that is able to drop snow over there on the east side of the state and does not bring a drop of rain here. what it does do is bring the cold air. that is what we are talking about. northbay valleys, morning lows into the upper 20s on tuesday and wednesday. and, if we do the comparison, let's take that wednesday where we bottom out at 28 in santa rosa, that will be our north bay example, we don't all get that cold. that is the extreme, but, you can see where the numbers will be pretty much bay area wide. middle and upper 30s, that will be a 37 degree morning in san jose, that is cold. regardless of whether we need that umbrella on thursday, let's look at the rain. how is that storm shaping up? pretty good. at this point. so, this is
11:18 pm
thursday , which means we are looking ahead today for . really, you want to get within day three before you really start ratcheting up the confidence level. but, for the last two days there has been consistency in the model that the system still looks like that on thursday. if it looks like that on thursday, that actually comes to be, we could get like a half an inch of rain here from that, throughout the day on thursday. and, if you want to keep playing this game, there is another system after that one coming through on saturday. so, there is reason to be optimistic, we will not get caught up in how much rain we got from this just yet, it's too early for that. let's focus on the probabilities, at this point. right now it is high enough that we have a chance in the morning on thursday. scattered showers on friday because we will be in between systems. saturday, the next system comes in, hopefully gives us more rain, that means we will keep the chance of scattered showers perhaps on sunday, but really, it would be thursday and saturday at this point for the two days with the

most noticeable rain. again, look at the temperatures before that. daytime highs in the inland valleys, upper 50s for daytime highs on wednesday, that is it. so, that will feel different before any of the rain gets here. all right, guys, back over to you. >> thanks, darren. coming up next, steph curry wringing hope and happiness to a fan in minneapolis. and, a holiday weekend is usually pretty big for the box office, we will tell you what movie took the top spot when we come back. >> they are playing at an unreal level right now. >> the nfc west? >> the raiders will win this game. >> warriors, a splash in the land of 10,000 lakes. those stories and more, on game day at 11:30. s
