national retail federation predicts 64 million american is big deal because it was engrained in the culture. folks expect big discounts on that day. come because a lot of reta are trying to move merchandise. when the pandemic-related supply change shortages eased, a lot of stores ended up with extra stock and they are willing to cut prices. over the weekend, there were 54% on electronics and 34% off toys. they expect as high as 32% on computers but if you are nod ready to pull the trigger. don't worry. the analysts expect the good prices to last into december. >> i got a toaster and a vacuum.

27 if you are keeping track of it, it's up from last year. cooler temperatures are rolling in, and the wind speeds farther inland, 15 to 20 miles per hour in both locations with stronger winds around the bay and the coast. 25-mile-per-hour sustained winds at oakland, and gusts close to 40 miles per hour as the wind is funneled through the san bruno gap and accelerates. close to 40 miles per hour recorded on oakland at the top of the hour. both hands on the wheels traveling in the evening rush especially on the bridges as the winds try to move you around a bit. we are mostly in the mid to upper 50s. it's cool but this is normal for late november and similar conditions in store for us tomorrow. compared to average, a degree to three degrees below what's normal for the second to the last day of november and heading into november we'll have rain chances. >> all right. thank you.

the university of california systems strike comes as students prepare for finals in the coming weeks. grad students, teachers' assistants, researchers, students, and fellows are out of the classroom and continue to demonstrate on the uc campuses where they work and plan to do so until they get what they want. >> there is not a lot of teaching from our part, and this puts more pressure on the professors and the university because students are here to learn, and they also are supportive of our strike. >> uc has not reached any agreement on the academic workers's key demands for higher wages. they are asking for a third-party mediator to step in. we're watching. a live look at capitol hill where congress is back after the long break for thanksgiving. as skyler henry is about to tell you there, is a lot to do before a new congress convenes in january. >> reporter: the senate is

rain from the bay area and gusty winds. 30-plus-mile-per-h our wind gusts accompanying the rain for thursday morning's commute. it looks sloppy but still a few days out. a look at the futurecast, lots of sunshine throughout the day tomorrow, a few high clouds here and there, and futurecast is trying to produce a few showers but few and far between and the bulk of the moisture will be father farther to the north. but wednesday evening to the thursday morning commute, it's more widespread and heavier, and the heaviest rain will fall during rush hour on thursday morning and more heavy rain offshore and continue pushing across the bay area as we head through the rest of the day on thursday. it's a snowmaker for the high sierra. we are not done with the good chance of rain wednesday night into thursday, and another

good chance of showers, more uncertain, 50 to 60% range. we are working on the timing and strength bus for the weekend, have an alternative in mind for outdoor plans. thursday, there is a winter storm watch for the high sierra, 55 to 65 miles per hour gusts and 1 to two feet of snow with the first system. the travel will be tricky if not flat-out treacherous on 50 and i-80. right now, just fine, high cloud cover and the temperatures in the mid to upper 50s to around 60 for the warmest locations. 50 exactly at san jose, cooler but normal for this time of year. and the north bay valley, to or below freezing. and on tuesday, a chilly air mass with the winding to us today will make
