[ music ] a parent's worst nightmare come to life, a 10-month-old boy exposed to fentanyl at a san francisco park. that 10-month-old is thankfully back home tonight. he was rushed to the hospital wednesday after buzz ingesting the drug. investigators are looking into exactly how it happened. his parents what the scared to be a warning to other moms and dads. the story is making national headlines, it certainly has people talking in the bay area. some are talking about what they are doing to keep their children safe. >> ivan says his son is doing great, he believes his son touched something with a trace of powdered fentanyl on it and then put his fingers in his mouth. even a small amount can be lethal for a young child.

those who are content with a status quo response . fentanyl has become a problem across the country, the single deadliest drug threat the nation has ever encountered. the telephone estate department of health says last year more than 6800 people died opioid overdose, 5700 of those were from fentanyl. and the 10-month-old baby who ingested it was given narcan, a drug that can counteract the effect of an overdose, it can mean the difference between living and dying. one drag queen in san francisco is on a mission to make sure people know how to use narcan. >> kerry can point the exact moment he knew he had to bring his dream to life. >> after the 2016 presidential election, i decided all the things i wanted to do, that i had to do them quick. >> what he wanted to do was

another day, when it came to whether, paul called the first alert weather day. this felt like a winter storm. >> we saw a lot of rain, gusts of wind as anticipated, timing was slightly slower . there were a few columns out there today. since scott took down power lines, and bus lines that really messed things up. floodwaters came up to the doors of parked cars, and there were a few crashes. a car was hit in lafayette. and you can see what it looked like for a lot of drivers around the bay area today. the storm brought a lot of snow to the high sierra's. this is video from chp of interstate 80 . it is back open tonight, but you need

chains past blue canyon all the way to the nevada state line. the snow is winding down. the travel is still strongly asked encouraged. we pick up a nice amount of rain, half an inch to an inch of rainfall. the higher end of what we expected came to pass , with just over 2 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains. the timing was just a little bit off. 45 mph for some of the more densely populated areas, doing a little bit of damage. we are not done with the rain chances, another chance is going to head our way into the weekend, not quite as dramatic in terms of downpours and the gusts of wind. we will track this in the forecast in a few minutes. students and parents have

been struggling this winter because classrooms don't have any heat. the school has been using portable space heaters, and says the heat wave broke the heating and air conditioning cooling systems, some parents are angry at how long it is taking to fix the problem. >> the process has been incredibly slow. that should have been a richter addressed - - that should have been addressed. it is unacceptable for a school to not have heat, and the issue of not enough space heaters for the classrooms. >> most classrooms impacted by this now have three horrible heaters operating. still ahead, the attempt to better protect passengers from assault in red shares and taxis. the 49ers welcome back a good amount of their defense, and a few members of the offense are good to go to as ♪music playing♪

converging on us with the first wave of rain. it is potentially moving in saturday morning. the models have been all over the place. if you thought the last one was confusing, the next one is really something. the increasing cloud cover is going to be with us by late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. there's the moisture down south. previous runs of this very forecast model we are keeping further to the east and southeast. watch what happens. we are tracking some showers moving into the santa clara valley and more widespread rain as we get through the rest of saturday morning. this is a complex set up, but be prepared for the possibility of showers, basically anytime after the sun comes up on saturday. it's going to be hit or miss. a good chance of showers on saturday giving way to a break in the action come with another round coming through saturday night and early sunday morning, another little break in the action. the problem is, these breaks are going to be tough to pin down more than a few hours in advance, again this is not a well organized storm system, it
