let's track that hour by hour as we head through the rest of tonight into tomorrow morning . it's going to be late tonight, rain chances will ramp up closer to sunrise . we look at the showers before the rest of the bay area, by late morning, continuing into the afternoon. that rain chance will continue for the next several days. we are looking at scattered showers continuing into monday and monday night, with a little dry break before another chance late next week with more uncertainty surrounding that week. >> paul, thank you . senator alex padila gathered with others to celebrate passage of the respect for marriage act. it would recognize any marriage in the state where it was performed. >> we still have so much work to do to achieve full equality . the fact that this bill was

disappointment flooded this vet. >> it made me feel frustrated someone would do something like this. >> with buckets , some sponges, and elbow grease, he did what he could to remove the graffiti. >> memorials like us are very important to people . and they shouldn't be defaced or vandalized. >> pleasant hill's recreation department saying in part our maintenance staff is trying to remove the remaining remnants without damage to the plaque and concrete. if we cannot find a remedy we will look at options to replace the concrete and reset the plaques. >> disrespectful. ould mi 's itant member the lives that were lost. and hopefully that as a community we can prevent things like this from happening again. >> it is in the small special spaces we honor the lives who served for all of us to live

in neighborhoods like this, a reminder for what we have, because of the sacrifice so many have made . amanda , reporting for kpix 5 . >> the park is really a community effort, with neighborhood volunteers helping with the gardening in the maintenance since it was created in 2002. president joe biden, signing a bill that prevents rail workers from going on strike next week. mr. biden asked congress to intervene in that dispute . the senate followed through yesterday very late in the hours, passing legislation, 85-15, to force the unions into a deal . the contract was negotiated in september between the railroads, labor unions, and the biden administration, but 4 of 12 unions voted it down. >> i know this is a tough vote for members of both parties . it was a tough thing for me, but it was the right thing to do at the moment to save jobs and protect millions of working families from harm and disruption and to keep supply

chains stable around the holidays. >> the agreement includes raises over five years plus bonus pay, an amendment to add sick leave failed to clear the senate . president biden also said the economy is moving in the right direction into the holiday season. the economy added better than expected 263,000 jobs in november . the unemployment rate remains at 3.7% . a positive report comes even though big-name tech companies, many here in the bay area, cutting tens of thousands of workers. >> well, i think this is becoming a have and have not labor market where the technology sector was swollen with the so many excess workers amid covid . but at that very time, a second like leisure and hospitality, even healthcare, they were shedding jobs. so it's now in reverse . technology, getting a lot more skinny trying to get rid of all those people they hired during the pandemic and then some, trying to right size their businesses. >> that is jill slicing her

likely you have it on your plans to get a christmas tree on this first weekend of december, and you may want to do it sooner rather than later. we understand the drought has impacted live christmas tree crops. inflation is causing sellers to raise prices. and they also have to walk a fine line between staying afloat and tanking business. >> as a result of inflation, you will likely pay more for gifts, gatherings, and christmas trees this holiday season. tree vendors are trying to keep those increases minimal, but they too are paying for just about everything that keeps their operation running . there is no question shelley cares about the trees on her lot .

>> if anything needs to be cut out i will cut it out . >> and her customers, some of them, first-timers, some of them, long timers . >> the coca family has been selling trees for about 35 years. >> she is the co-owner of honey bear trees in san carlos . with inflation driving up costs, coco knew she would have to charge more for christmas trees this year. >> labor has gone up because ii gone up just the s, the tupricon our end wholesale wise, has gone up. >> the decision to raise prices wasn't easy . >> i was actually very conscious of this . 5% was all i did for the smaller trees, and i'm trying to do it in such a gradual way where i don't hurt myself or my customers york we try to keep it reasonable. >> coco's inflation induced

prices are on the low end for tree vendors . the american christmas tree organization says expect to pay up to 25% more for their trees. on a mission to find her perfect charlie brown tree. >> how much are they by the way? >> nancy was pleasantly surprised to see the trees here want that much more expensive. >> i'm not seeing a real jump . >> when she found her tree she was grateful she would be able to take it home. >> am thankf still afford a tree. >> coco says the shortage is reminiscent of a few years ago where growers upped prices and passed it on to the buyers. coco says that she didn't want to raise prices to the point where families would decide against buying christmas trees. >> it is a staple of christmas. it's something that's important to me, and i believe it is important to other people. >> that may mean she might

to be a really sharp dividing line between where we see a decent amount of rain and not very much rain at all, the farther northwest you go picks of this particular forecast model keeps sonoma county drive . all the system has to do is jog about 20 or 30 miles west . but it's a whole different story. these forecast models show they aren't perfect, but it gives us a good idea in general with more rain to spread in the afternoon . we will get a break , that will shape up and moving into saturday evening and saturday night. my remote controls are working so i'm going to hit the here to get us through these graphics. the whole system is locked up , that's fun. okay, we will see that dry break early , and then that rain pushes through. but showers are still possible concentrated north of the golden gate on sunday afternoon. but again, flexibility with other plans, because it's going to be unsettled through the weekend,

and even into early next week. monday brings more rain around rush hour, that's a couple days down the line. we will see how that shapes up . total rainfall out of this system, we lost our numbers, but the key at the top of the screen, all sorts of technical difficulties today . anywhere from half an inch to an inch of total rainfall . and that's where we have the utter chance in those yellow shaded areas. winter storm warning in effect in the sierra through early monday morning, another 1 to 3 feet of snow, and difficult, treacherous conditions. the wind gusts adding to the wintry nightmare on the roads. it's always nice to see blue skies after it rains in the bay. temperatures, low 50s for most of us, 55 in san jose. and it's going to be another chilly night tonight, but not as cold as last night, because we will see increasing clouds overhead,

temperatures dropping down to the low to mid 30s in most inland spots where the clouds arrive earlier . high temperatures tomorrow look steady , a little warm air is going to try to make its way in. we will keep you updated as we head to the weekend with more showers likely as we go through sunday, sunday night, into monday and monday night . than a dry break, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday . temperatures will warm up, the warmest days will have us a couple degrees below average for high temperatures, with the chance of showers arriving a week from today. it's a long way down the line, but it's something we can look forward to into december, read. >> the computer system is affected by the cold it seems. this sunday's matchup with the dolphins will be more than an just familiar territory.
