warnock and republican challenger herschel walker will hold last-minute campaign events today ahead of tomorrow's runoff. almost two million ballots have already been cast, though, in early voting. bradley blackburn is in new york with more on the highly contested race. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the early voting turnout last week was enormous. georgia saw long lines at polling places and record numbers of voters. that is thought to favor senator warnock who has encouraged his supporters to vote early. now the focus for both candidates is getting holdouts to the polls tomorrow. >> it is time for us to get people in washington that are going to become leaders -- >> reporter: the high-stakes runoff race in georgia -- >> we need to show up like this, a 911 emergency -- >> reporter: entered its final push with candidates on both sides turning to some high-profile friends. ♪ >> reporter: democratic incumbent raphael warnock held a virtual rally sunday with stevie wonder as well as former president barack obama. >> you deserve a senator you can

be proud of. somebody who will talk straight to you. >> reporter: republican challenger herschel walker appeared with senators john kennedy of louisiana and tim scott of south carolina. the senate's only black republican. >> georgia needs herschel walker! >> reporter: more than 1.8 million voters have already cast their ballots in early voting, with this past friday marking the single biggest day of voting. >> it is national, it's beyond the local implications. >> reporter: democrats already have guaranteed control of the senate, a warnock win would give them more leverage in deciding the make-up of key committees. >> you don't vote, don't complain. that's the way i look at it. >> reporter: with 51 seats in the senate, democrats would be an easier time confirming judges and allows for more political leeway so one dissenting party member can't single handedly sink a bill.

there is always a wild card. in this case, it could be weather. forecasts call for rain tomorrow in georgia which can keep voters from making it to the polls. we know that herschel walker is counting on a big election day turnout. >> all right. bradley blackburn in new york. thanks. >> you bet. former president donald trump is facing criticism from both democrats and republicans. that's after he called for parts of the constitution to be terminated to overturn the 2020 presidential election and reinstate him to power. on saturday, trump wrote on his truth social platform, "a massive fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles even those found in the constitution. our great founders did not want and would not condone false and fraudulent elections." last month trump announced that he's running for president again. republican representative liz cheney denounced trump's statement calling him an enemy of the constitution. the supreme court is set to hear arguments today on a case about whether a web designer can refuse to provide services to same-sex couples.

a christian graphic designer in colorado does not want to create wedding websites for same-sex couples based on her religious beliefs. that goes against state law that says she must provide wedding websits to all customers if she offers them to the public. the web designer says colorado's law violates the constitution's first amendment by forcing her to express a message that she does not agree with. overseas, iran's attorney general said that the country's morality police has been shut down. that's according to state media. it follows months of protests triggered by the death of a 22-year-old woman in custody for allegedly violating strict islamic dress codes. government officials also reportedly said iran is considering changing its law requiring women to cover their heads in public. human rights groups in iran say more than 400 people have been killed in the protests, and more than 18,000 arrested. china has a record of suppressing civil disobedience

especially for any protest against the government. one crackdown eased this weekend as elizabeth palmer reports. >> reporter: a week ago, protesters were on the streets in at least 25 chinese cities furious with china's zero-covid restrictions.st and by tuesday all over. but the damage had been done. xi jinping's zero-covid policy with its mask testing and harsh lockdowns may have prevented millions of deaths, but it's now become dangerously unpopular. millions of chinese people simply want to rejoin a post-pandemic world. so the obvious question came up at the foreign ministry's regular media briefing -- >> given the widespread display of frustration with the zero-covid policy, is china considering ending it soon?

and if so, when? >> reporter: the spokesman's uncomfortable nonanswer stretched on and on. china's government apparently had no plan. so it sent mixed signals. its covid czar, vice premier sun chunlan, said the country faced a new situation. some cities including the industrial powerhouse of guangzhou went ahead and eased restrictions unilaterally to widespread relief, life snapped back to near normal. the state council announced a new push on vaccinations for the elderly. currently fewer than half of people over 80 have had a booster. but in beijing, there was massive confusion. thousands of covid testing booths abruptly closed to the weekend. some were actually lifted away in the dead of night even though people still need them for the negative test results they have to show to get into public places.

its way to a major highway on hawaii's big island. the lava flow could reach the highway connecting the two sides of the island later this week. the newest baseball hall of famer was elected, and an electrical grid in north carolina came under two. -- came under attack. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." "the raleigh news and observer" reports thousands of people in north carolina could be without power for days after two substations were damaged by gunfire. the fbi has joined the investigation into what's being called an intentional criminal act. more than 35,000 customers are without power in moore county, about 40 miles from ft. bragg. a mandatory 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew has been put into effect because of the power outage. officials say no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. and "usa today" says slugger fred mcgriff was unanimously elected to the baseball hall of fame by a special contemporary era committee. mcgriff, who was nicknamed the

omar villafranca has more. to the end zone, it's picked off -- >> reporter: heavy pressure on and off the field for cleveland browns quarterback deshaun watson in his first nfl game in almost two years. >> a smattering of boos -- >> reporter: some in the stands at energy stadium booed their former quarterback as the browns beat the texans. also in the crowd, ten women who accused watson of sexual misconduct. at practice thursday, the 27-year-old said his focus is on football. >> i'm not worried about the atmosphere. i got to go in and make sure i execute the game plan. >> reporter: during his last two years with the houston texans watson was named in more than two dozen civil lawsuits, many by massage therapists who claimed he pressured them into sexual activity. >> a range of emotions -- guilt, embarrassment, shame. >> reporter: all but one of those lawsuits has been settled. two texas grand juries declined to indict him.

in august an independent officer said watson violated the nfl's personal conduct policy. he was fined $5 million, suspended 11 games, and ordered to undergo treatment. >> i'm truly sorry for all the women that i've impacted in this situation. >> reporter: he's maintained his innocence and guaranteed his $230 million nfl salary. omar villafranca, cbs news, dallas. you could soon be getting your prescription filled by a pharmacist not even on site. and taylor swift fans still have bad blood with ticketmaster. matt pieper has those stories and more in today's cbs "money watch" report. >> reporter: markets lost some momentum late last week, though a strong november jobs report released on friday undercut the case for an imminent slowdown in the u.s. economy. on friday, the dow gained 34. nasdaq lost 20. s&p 500 losing 4. apple is looking to move iphone production out of china in the wake of violent worker protests there. the world's largest iphone plant

dubbed iphone city made headlines in recent weeks after workers revolted over covid-related concerns. now apple is reportedly looking to shift its production toward other nations in asia like india and vietnam. the current facility houses some 300,000 workers. a lot of us are working remote these days. how about pharmacists? cvs health is testing a system that would allow its pharmacists to process prescriptions remotely. the drug store chain says about 400 of its 30,000 pharmacists are already doing prescriptions at central locations or from their homes. pharmacists were already in short supply before the pandemic, and it's been worse since. and swifties are suing. about two dozen taylor swift fans have filed a lawsuit against ticketmaster following last month's fiasco that left millions of people unable to buy tickets for her upcoming tour. they accused ticketmaster's parent company live nation of anti-competitive conduct that let scalpers buy a bunch to then

it was a big night for the nation's capital as the 45th annual kennedy center honors were held. movie star and human rights activist george clooney, singers amy grant and gladys knight, composer and conductor tania leon and mega band u2 were this year's honorees. president biden and the first lady were also in attendance, as well as speaker of the house nancy pelosi and her husband, paul. this was paul pelosi's first public appearance since being violently attacked with a hammer in his home in late october. you can watch the kennedy center honors on december 28th right here on cbs. actor keke palmer revealed big news while hosting "snl" over the weekend. >> i'm especially glad to be here, though, because there's some rumors going around. people have been in my comments saying keke's having a baby, keke's pregnant. i want to set the record straight -- i am.
