later. so, the victims or survivors suffer a multitude of aftereffects. it is everything from triggering to alcoholism to criminal activity to inability to have relationships. >> reporter: joey says he knows there are far more abusers and victims that are publicly known. his organization held a press conference to unveil a list of east bay priest and other members that have been accused of sexual abuse against children. >> we have found in northern california 687 unique abusers who wandered through 537 parishes. it is an amazing statistic. it means that no place was safe. >> snap has compiled a list of 227 names er e letter for nday, theyre bishop michael barber to a driver outside the cathedral of christ the light.

>> reporter: in 2019 they created a three-year period for victims of childhood sexual abuse to come forward, even if there statute of limitations have ended. >> i got a call the other day from a victim who is 70. he has never come forward before. so, that is not unusual. so, my message to victims , you have a chance to get some kind of indication. i would take it while the window is still open. >> reporter: they told kpix that considers all misconduct allegations by clergy to be serious and is reviewing the list of clergy members from snap or the diocese says it also has had policies in a formal process of reviewing and responding to allegations in place for many years. sarah? >> reporter: these stories are always so haunting when we talk about them, anything involving children is so difficult to hear that. i wonder what happened with joey's own case? i know his story started many,

tonight there is something of a showdown at san francisco city hall over a deadly crisis. more than 1800 people have died of opioid overdoses in the city since the start of 2020. now, it is not unusual to see entire city blocks lined with people openly using drugs. tonight, a group of supervisors are going against the mayor pushing a plan to open sites where people can use drugs while supervised. the tenderloin service center which was open to help the unhoused of people who were using drugs closed last week. it was not advertised as a safe injection site, but people can use in a fenced off area

outside and people showed up. got more than 100,000 visits. supervisors say something needs to fill the gap now that it is closed. they want to open wellness hats where people can use drugs in a supervised setting. they are illegal under state and federal law. still, supporters told john ramos too many lives are at risk. >> reporter: a week after the only safe injection site was shut down, community activist called out the department of help for not offering any alternatives at a time when people are dying. >> seymour is called the mayor of the tenderloin because of how he is involved in his community. he said he now closed tenderloin center was not originally intended to be a place where drugs were used. the idea, this was not to be a safe injection site, overnight it turned into one. >> reporter: the plan was to create a number of wellness hubs around the city where attics could consume the drugs

and be monitored to prevent overdoses. in one year the tenderloin center prevented over 300 deaths. now that the center has closed, seymour and a lot of other people feel betrayed. >> the city of san francisco, you lied to us. you out right lied to us. you said you would support this effort. it >> reporter: those who had been quiet about supporting the wellness clubs were told the plan has been canceled. >> since that time, the mayor closed the tenderloin center with no replacement. now, we know , thanks to people speaking out, at least two sites the mayor has bought from opening. >> there is not an alternative plan to this plan. the reason we have all been silent up to this point is because we have been told, behind closed doors, the plan is honda center's. okay, good, we are done with that said let's do that. we will do that. so, what has
