hello, i'm sara donchey. so we talked a lot about earthquakes last night at 11:00 tonight we're doing it again. this time here at home in the bay area. earthquake twitter wa active tonight. take a look at all of these tweets. some of them were from people in the east bay who felt not one, but two earthquakes today. there wa a 3.3 just after 6:30 tonight. it was centered about half a mile along the heyward fault. w talked to somebody in fremont who felt the whole house shake. >> it scared me. the earthquake felt like it was a wave and it was like a seesaw. i didn't process what was going on. it happened so fast, so i didn't get a chance to register what was going on until the second wave came in. oh great, we're having an earthquake. >> yep, that was the second earlier a magnitude 2.9 struck

mile northeast of san leandro. that one was just after 8:30 in the morning, also along the heyward fault. but of course, the big earthquake was up in humboldt county, right in the thick of clean up recovery an mode d after deadly 6.4 earthqu on tuesday. power has been restored to almost everyone. just a few people left in the dark. but there are some people facing new problems now. some haven't had running water for two days. palettes of water are being given out to people in ri dell. when the lights came back on, a damaged wire actually started a fire, which almost destroyed a woman's home. over in fortuna, business owners are feeling the impacts of the earthquake. showing us why the other damage from the quake wil take a lot longer to fix. >> we can't go in and out my front door because the framing is tweaked. i'm effectively closed now until either they ge it fixed, which unfortunately probably isn't very soon. >> repo: t or

confused, angry. shortstop carlos correa's deal with the team fell through at the last second. now he's in another jersey. charlie walters here. a friend of mine broke the news t me this morning and i said what >> it was last night for me. after we got off the air, our producer, justin williams, hits me up and said hey, we didn't happen to miss that breaking news, did we? and so carlos correa, himself, woke up tuesda morning expecting to be introduced as the newest member of the giants. the day ended with correa agreeing to join th new york mets. new york swooped in after the giants had concern over correa's physical and wanted to renegotiate the contract. so late tuesday night correa and the mets agreed to a 12-year deal reportedly worth $315 million. slightly less tha his original 13-year deal with san francisco, but at that poin it's peanuts. releasing a statement saying, "we wish carlos the best." and so brando

right now chp is looking into an accident. officers righ now blocking off a stretch of marsh drive near aria, where th coroner's office is right now. we don't know exactly what happened, but the victim was apparently found near a car. we'll keep our eyes on this one and bring you updates as we get them. a woman barricaded herself inside a bathroom of the san jose state library where police thought it was a gun. it all happened before 11:00. the library was evacuated while policespent about three hours trying to talk to the woman. sh actually tried to escape the bathroom through a hatch in the ceiling, but got stuck. eventually she surrendered

peacefully and police figured out the gun she had was fake. well our weather here in th bay area, really not that bad compared to most of the country a huge blizzard that might go down in the history books is making holiday travel a mess. even right here. there were lon security lines at san jose airport and a lot of traffic at sfo terminals. several flights have been delayed or canceled a other airports, which is having a ripple effect here and across the country. >> the weather coming in in so many different parts of the country, hitting a number of airlines and airport hubs. and the airlines are having to shut down those operations. so even though the weather may be beautiful where you are, the plane to take you where you nee to go may not be able to get to you because they can't leave from those other locations. >> oh fun. >> i know. the timing of this i really bad. the scope of this i really bad. >> yeah. it's not going to be a historic snow maker. it's just so much wind blowing that snow around. just the wind in the absence of snow could cause

plenty of flight delays. this will be an issue. >> i can't wait to go to sfo. >> the next couple of days. it doesn't matter if it is oakland it will be challenging. a look at the reason why the national forecast today. the big travel hub that was impacted by this twin cities. and also denver ha windy conditions. the temperature there dropped by 37 degrees in one hour. tomorrow the big travel hubs that will b impacted primarily chicago and also detroit. st. louis with a lot of southwest flights go through there with plenty of snow and wind and still the twi cities that snow will be blowin around. blizzard warnings even though they won't get that much snow. this system will combine forces with one moving up the eastern seaboard and produce just a mess for friday, which i the business travel day and the day before christmas eve. any flight connecting through the east coast travel hubs is likel to experience some delays. and if you are avoiding the east coast entirely thinking i'm going to the pacific northwest, seattle will have an ice storm to start the day saturday. so

problems are plenty. be patient check ahead, and again just be patient. around here the dense fog advisory in effect for solano county, the delta, and the east bay. visibilities are dropping, ending around the quarter mile. the advisory will go through 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. futurecast will show more cloud higher up. the approach to some showers tomorrow afternoon and the north bay. two waves of light rain showers. the first early evening will be hit or miss activity. another wave during the late evening, slightly more widespread. neither will be all that substantial. hopefully enough t wash some of the chimney smoke out of the lowest levels of the atmosphere, but then we dry out most locations are talking abou a few .01 inches of rain. and a trace of rainfall, but still we'll take a what we could get especially as they improve the air quality. we would like to stay in the moderate category t finish off the workweek into christmas weekend. temperatures will warm up and hopefully air quality will be slightly better a look outside right now. clear

skies over san francisco. the fog is further off to the east. temperatures mostly in the 40s, still holding on to 50s. mostly low to mid-40s by tomorrow morning. we will still warm up even with that increase of clou cover. the dense fog advisory, your temperatures will hit the low to mid-50s inland in the east bay. everybody else, the upper 50s and the low 60s tomorrow afternoon before that chance for showers will roll through. there is a much better chance for rain in the forecast next week associated with the atmospheric river that will be heading our way on monday night and tuesday. lingering showers on wednesday, and just looks like an unsettled weather pattern in general that will carry us through the end of the year. we will see a warm patter for christmas eve and christmas day with highs in the 60s over the holiday weekend. charlie? next in sports, the only winless team in college basketball finally gets a w. th warriors set some franchise records in brooklyn. not the good ones. putting on a show in san
