an inch of rain tonight. we could receive another quarter through tonight. on the wide view, we are going to look ahead to this system now. after friday, we are going to stay pretty much like today. there might be more breaks of time , but once we get to saturday, right here, that's 5:30. that takes on a far more impressive look. that's when we will get right into the heart of this atmospheric river, and is going to slowly drag its way across the entire bay throughout saturday morning. i think there are two things that are top of mind for many. first question, what does it mean for new year's eve? we'll get that out of the way right now, you are not going to get rained on on new year's eve. the rain will be done by then. so let's focus on the other question, what does this mean from a flood watch perspective? because that is an important factor in this system. we mentioned there is a flood watch that starts, friday
3:18 pm
night, and it goes through saturday. so that timeframe is the window that you want to be the most aware of, in terms of possible debris on the road, because there will be wind with that heavier rain when that comes through, and localized flooding of some of the streams and creeks in some of the northbay mountains, and certainly down in the santa cruz mountains. look at rainfall totals from this. for the remainder of friday, it is fairly manageable, but as we go through saturday, watch numbers really spike from that wave that comes through. so, the timeframe that would probably be the most impactful from all of this will be saturday, from the late morning, probably into the late evening, because we'll seal the deal with residual effects, with localized flooding , and some of the streams and creeks overflowing their banks. new year's day, we get a break. but i just want you to see what's coming in

the pacific into the first week of january but there's another storm, and here's the potential for a more impressive one. that one is focused on the middle of next week. and there's another one after that. we won't try and get too specific, but we are going to give you a heads up. let's make sure we are prepared for saturday. that is our first alert weather day. keep in mind, it's going to stay busy, and we will be doing this probably for much of the first week of january at least. reed, back to you. >> thank you so much. the halost a legend, an icon today. brazilian player, pele in '99 he was named athlete of the century by the international athletic committee. pele leaves this world after an accomplished life at the age of 82. gianna franco looks ahead
