his time as vice president. saturday the white house said five more pages of classified materials were discovered last thursday at mr. biden's home in wilmington, delaware. a week ago, cbs news first reported that documents marked classified were found in november at an office once used by mr. biden. jarred hill is in new york with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. so house republicans say they want to know who had access to president biden's home in wilmington since he took officers to see who if anyone might have had access to those classified documents. president biden ignored questions yesterday on the discovery of more documents marked classified at his residence in wilmington, delaware. white house attorney richard sauber said the additional pages were found on thursday and given to the justice department. that makes roughly 20 classified records that have been uncovered in two locations. >> we're very concerned about a lack of transparent.

>> reporter: gop house oversight committee chair james comer sent a letter to the white house asking for the visitor log to the bidens' wilmington home citing national security concerns. in addition to their own investigations, house republicans have asked the director of national intelligence to review the materials. >> we have requested an analysis of these documents, the potential harm they may have caused. i expect that we'll receive that in the next few weeks. >> reporter: new york congressman daniel goldman defended the president and white house's handling of the materials, calling it by the book. >> we don't have any indication that president biden knew about them. he certainly has demonstrated no intent to deceive or obstruct the government by keeping them. >> reporter: last week attorney general merrick garland named special counsel robert hur, a trump appointee, to oversee the investigation into the biden documents. while the secret service screens people who visit the president's

properties, they don't keep records of those background checks or any sort of visitor log for private residences. and the white house also confirmed that while president biden did reinstate visitor logs at the white house, he doesn't independently keep records of who's visited his private homes since becoming president. back to you. >> jarred hill in new york. thank you. the mayor of the ukrainian city of dnipro says that there is little hope of finding anyone else alive after a russian missile strike destroyed an apartment building. officials say 35 people were killed in saturday's attack, and the fate of 35 others remains unknown. emergency crews worked through the weekend in freezing conditions pulling survivors from the wreckage. russia also targeted the capital of kyiv and the city of kharkiv on saturday. nepal is observing a national day of mourning as the search resumes for four people missing after a deadly plane crash. cell phone video shows the yeti airlines plane flipping to its side yesterday moments before it crashed into a gorge.

east 68 of the 7peopn board weilled. today the black boxes were found in good shape, and the plane was making a short flight from the capital of kathmandu to a tourist town. officials say there were no americans on board. hundreds of rescue workers are searching the wreckage. back home a federal investigation is under way after a close call involving two passenger planes at new york's jfk airport. it happened friday night on a runway. we have more now from elise preston. cancel takeoff plans -- >> reporter: in audio obtained by cbs news, you hear the panic from an air traffic controller ordering friday's delta 1943 flight to stop. the pilot aborts takeoff and abruptly slows down the plane, avoiding a runway collision with american airlines flight 106. >> ooh.

>> reporter: delta's boeing 737 carrying 145 passengers and six crew members was headed to the dominican republic from new york. the 137 passengers and 14 crew members on board american's boeing 777 were flying to the uk. cbs news transportation safety analyst robert sumwalt -- >> what we know so far is that the american airlines 777 was apparently instructed to taxi to runway four left. it appears that that airplane did not make the right turn but instead continued across an active runway. >> reporter: minutes after friday's near collision, audio captured the american airlines pilot checking in with air traffic control. >> we are cleared to cross, is that correct? >> american 106 heavy we're departing runway four left. we'll listen to the tapes. but you were supposed to depart runway four left. you're currently holding short of 31 left.

>> reporter: american airlines declined to comment about friday's near collision, deferring comments to the faa. meanwhile, delta says safety is a top priority, adding that the airline is working with aviation authorities on a full review. elise preston, cbs news, new york. a university of georgia football player and a staff member were killed in a car crash just hours after the team celebrated its national championship with a parade and a ceremony. the driver of the car recruiting analyst chandler lecroy and the defensive lineman, devin willock, died in yesterday's single-car accident in athens, georgia. two other members of the football team were hurt, as well. in a statement, head coach kirby smart said, "we are all heartbroken and devastated with the loss of devin willock and chandler lecroy. we grieve with their families for this tragic loss." a university of alabama basketball player is under arrest, charged with capital murder.

21-year-old darius myles and another man were accused of firing into a vehicle near the campus yesterday killing a 23-year-old female passenger. police say that it appears a minor altercation led to the shooting. the school said that myles is no longer part of the team. people in california are again cleaning up after more rain, wind, and snow battered parts of the state over the weekend. heavy snow caused whiteout conditions in the sierra-nevada mountains. it forced parts of a key highway from the san francisco bay area to lake tahoe ski resorts to close saturday. it has since reopened. more than 200 miles to the east, floodwaters from the san lorenzo river inundated the coastal community of felton triggering emergency evacuations there. the waters quickly receded but left behind a thick layer of mud. >> our backs are hurting, my feet are killing me in these boots. it's disgusting, you know. the mud is so unbearable. >> a series of atmospheric

martin luther king jr. and his wife was unveiled, and there's new trouble at the dallas zoo. those are some of the headlines on the "morning newsstand." "the dallas morning news" reports days after a leopard escaped, police are investigating a tampered monkey exhibit at the dallas zoo. the zoo was shut down friday after a 25-pound clouded leopard escaped her enclosure. it was found hours later unhurt near her habitat and returned. police say a cutting tool was used to intentionally make an opening in the habitat's fence. a similar cut was found saturday in an enclosure for small monkeys. no monkeys escaped, though. >> engine full power, and lift off. go falcon heavy, go space force. >> yesterday's launch from nasa's kennedy space center in florida was the fifth for this

rarely used falcon heavy rocket since its debut in 2018. it carried a military communication satellite and other equipment in what's being called a classified mission. i'm matt pieper, cbs news, new york. residents of a small town in maine are hoping the new mega millions billionaire is among them. the single ticket that won friday's $1.35 billion jackpot was sold at hometown gas and grill in lebanon, maine. locals and the gas station owner say the small town with 6,500 residents is buzzing with excitement. >> pretty overwhelmed, yeah. this was really big. we are anxiously awaiting for the winner to be revealed. hoping it's somebody from here in town. >> we're also happy around here and really gung-ho. >> the jackpot is the second largest in mega millions history and is the first to be won in maine. up next, unbearably cute. pandas in china caught on camera in adorable moments. nts. i'm managing my high blood pressure, but i'm still a target for chronic kidney disease. and my type 2 diabetes means i'm also a target.

cincinnati bengals last night. ravens' wide receiver james proche nearly caught the potential game-tying touchdown pass as time expired. bengals won 24-17. they will now play the buffalo bills in the divisional round. nfl commissioner roger goodell executed a perfect play during yesterday's wild card playoff game between the new york giants and the minnesota vikings. goodell surprised a young vikings fan who's been battling leukemia with tickets to super bowl lvii. charlie huizinga is friends with the team and has been a special guest of the vikings a few times this season. in october, charlie even got the chance to play catch with some of his favorite vikings thanks to the make-a-wish foundation. lebron james is inching closer to the all-time points record. >> obviously one of the favorites again this year. here's lebron -- he has 38,001 for his career.
