a shocking scene inside of the synagogue as a man walks in and starts firing shots in front of a crowded table. the fbi is trying to track him down. what we know about a second

investigation. this is the late news. why did this man, walk into a san francisco synagogue and fire a gun in a crowd of people. the fbi is looking for him. we have stills from the security camera. that video was taken from inside the synagogue last night. this happened at around 7:20. the man walked into this room, he held up a gun and started firing. one person got up to get him to leave and thankfully nobody got hurt. police say the day before, a man brandished a gun inside of balboa theatre. they think it could be the same guy. a worker said he was looking at merchandise and talking with employees when he pulled out a gun but did not fire. no one was hurt there either.

the fbi released these pictures from the synagogue incident and the balboa theatre incident on the right. it looks like he is wearing the same outfit. the fbi is asking for tips to track him down. the -- is calling for the incident to be investigated as a hate crime. made a statement saying the suspect walked in and said hello my jewish friends, pulled out a gun and said say hello to the -- and started firing. we are hearing from workers at the half moon bay farms where seven people were shot and killed. the workers did not want us to reveal identities. they spoke in spanish. one man said he had an argument with the suspected shooter that got physical. the suspect hit him and was fired as a result. he thinks that he may have been one of the targets. he left work to pick up his daughter from school. another woman said she felt terrible since the shooting. she described those moments.

she said that they started to shake and they did not know what to do. it was extremely difficult. the suspect was charged with seven counts of murder. he is due to be arraigned come february 16. this is what it looks like outside. let's take a look. that will change in a few hours. it sounds like it is not the only rain we will get. another round of rain over the weekend. these will be beneficial systems for the bay area in general. the timing not as convenient. there is always something to complain about. let's look at the rain. it is moving on the coast in the last couple of hours. really starting to get into radar range.

this is a band of moderate or occasionally heavy rainfall as it first moves on shore. the bulk of the rain will fall before the sun comes up. still lingering showers north of the golden gate. the rain arrives a tiny bit later for san francisco but it will still be raining more heavily before sunrise. lingering showers before the morning commute. that will be the case around the central bay. further south, the rain will not be as heavy. it will lose punch as it moves further inland. especially into the santa clara valley. that rain is likely in san jose adding up to 1/10 minutes to one quarter of an inch. this is the first wave of rain headed our way. it will taper off toward morning. largely drive by tomorrow afternoon.the weekend.

when 300 high school kids scattered, all going in different directions, blocking streets in waking neighbors that may have called it a night. there were even reports of fireworks being set off. >> it was just a bunch of noise. former congress it on the street, some were knocking on doors and running. not everyone left. some decided to hang out on a few porches. >> it was for 20 years. >> reporter: there were a few cases of vandalism. he said his neighbors ev charger was damaged and another neighbor had a rock cracked their window. many described them as kind and cordial. >> i was not that scared but i was weirded out with people saying hello. >> reporter: residence a the party cleared out in less than one hour. they are hoping the gathering will never happen again in the neighborhood. >> it is always good to have

command from santa clara is the latest to be charged from the insurrection. he was part of the crowd that stormed the tunnel leading into the building. when rioters crashed, they say he was upfront against police officers.

's attorneys say he was just caught up in the crowd and left as soon as he was able. >> that was a big fire. firefighters are still putting out hotspots after the fire destroyed this home and burned two others. it started in a garage. that house is a total loss. no one was hurt. one pet was rescued. it was an accident that could have been worse. >> station 24 is less than a mile away. they got here in minutes. it was the efforts of our firefighters to where we did not have more walls. >> an agreement today in the effort to redevelop the site. the city, agreed to negotiate with a black-owned company and to handle the project that could bring a new team to the east bay.

the sports and entertainment ous to adable housing, shops, restaurants and jobs. they are bringing a black-owned franchise to east oakland and the wnba team. it is the largest transfer of land to a black lab group and the 170 your history. the lunar new year parade is this weekend. after three years, business owners are really ready for the boost. the chamber of commerce held a merchant walk in chinatown this evening, nearly 100 people were out meaning small business owners in making new connections. whenever we have a parade, the first question, is it going to rain on our parade k >> not the torrential rain we had. you will not be stopped from going there. have fun and bring an umbrella. also waterproof. something to keep in mind.

that will be the second chance of rain over the next few days. the first one is taking shape off the coast. it will move on shore in the next few hours. that rain moving in late tonight and that will continue into friday morning. than a dry break from midday tomorrow until saturday before showers develop. heavier rain late on saturday evening into the overnight. let's track at all. here is the rain surging into the north bay. the heaviest rain will fall from this point. by the time we get past drivetime, the bulk of the rain will be out of here. for rush-hour, wet roads and puddles. things are likely to be slow. the bulk of that gets out quickly. than a few straggling showers in the morning and impartial clearing in the afternoon. that will allow temperatures to warm up to the mid to upper 50s. we start the day dry on saturday. we will see showers dotting the radar in the afternoon.

those will be more miss than hit. this is the point where you will start to be flexible. the pattern will be the same. here is the widespread rain moving across the bay area. not lingering enough to cause flooding threat. off-and-on showers are likely for the second half of the weekend. keep that rain jacket handy and be flexible. keep repeating that. it is the best advice. you don't have to cancel anything but be ready to adjust. anywhere from 1/10 of an inch to 1/4 of an inch. a little more in the high elevations. the second round the rain is more evenly distributed. one quarter inch to 1/2 inch. than one half inch to 1 inch of rain for most of the area. beneficial rain. a little more than that is possible for high elevations along the coast and in the

north bay. if you are headed to fan fest, we will still be dry at that point. possible as the rain chances increase. for all the other festivities around the area. showers are possible in the evening. it will not rain all the time but be ready to adjust. a winter storm watch is in effect saturday afternoon through saturday evening. anywhere from one foot to 2.5 feet of snow. in the short-term, temperatures not dropping too far. we stay in the 40s for overnight lows. no chilly temperatures. temperatures will warm up to what is normal which is mid to upper 50s in a few low 60s. we will stay in that shower pattern and then we dry out. passing clouds into wednesday, including an outside chance of a shower tuesday into wednesday. just adding a few clouds for now. it should be a couple of

we are celebrating black history month and shining a spotlight on people in the bay area who are fighting for justice and equality. tonight we celebrate a leader who saw the need to make a space for diversity in sports. >> chase butler. >> reporter: a high school junior. a bucket for the bulls. his brother is a star freshman on the jv team. the eight-year-old lost butler as a second grader. who first provided the basketball venue and life lessons to these

brothers? his name is paul austin. 11 years ago, there was an idea for a project that could give what other youth sports programs couldn't. diversity. the foundation is in marin city. a nonprofit program called play -- austin, a third-generation native, saw the need. >> started to see parents from the surrounding communities. commencing hey, i want my kid to participate. i started asking questions like why? would make you go to school where the majority of the kids, 98% are white. i want my kid to be around people of color. >> reporter: there just over one quarter million people.

according to the census bureau, 85% are white. 3% are black. the largest representation of color live in marin city. a pocket of 3000 sandwiched between sausalito and -- valley. >> 90% of our kids, come from low income households. we raise the money in order to make sure we could pay for the fees and the uniforms. transportation and food. you name it, we make sure we take care of that. >> reporter: he brokered a new court inside the rec center, thanks to the warriors. the 47-year-old austin, marin city means everything. >> my earliest memory of the recreation center was probably about 5. >> reporter: you were five years old? doesn't look pretty much the same? >> 100%. it has not changed.
