from cbs bay area, this is the evening edition. >> and the kansas city chiefs have won super bowl lvii! >> they do it for the second time in four years. the chiefs win it all. we are across the bay area with fans who enjoyed the game despite the lack of red and gold on the field. and an east bay gospel choir making their first in person performance since the pandemic, just in time for black history month. we hear from a man standing just across the street when that house and the sunset district exploded. there was no red and gold in the super bowl but we got a real nailbiter that came down

to the final seconds. in the end, it was patrick mahomes and the kansas city chiefs who walked away from super bowl lvii with the lombardi trophy for the second time in the last four years as they just beat the philadelphia eagles in the final seconds of super bowl lvii! >> we begin with pregame festivities as people descended on glendale, arizona to enjoy performances, including the national anthem from babyface and chris stapleton. they also enjoyed the flyover by the all-female crew. >> one of the pilots is a bay area made of. callie zimmerman is from san jose and continued to the university of nevada, reno. if you tuned in for the halftime show, rihanna delivered. the halftime performance featured all of her top hits, and shortly after she had the

now. the 49ers obviously didn't play today, but bay area fans still came together and turned up the party. at retro junkie in walnut creek, the faithful rocked 49ers gear and enjoyed the game regardless of who was playing. >> it is cool because people from different walks of life just come out here and celebrate the bond of football. we have food trucks and a dj. it was a really good time at retro junkie. >> in san francisco, the jewish community use the game to reach out to the homeless community. john ramos explains. >> reporter: for those who call san francisco's streets home, one day seems pretty much like the next. here, super bowl sunday doesn't mean very much. >> no, it don't matter. >> why? >> because there are too many homeless people here, and they get in the way.

them a drink, make a super bowl party for them, it really, you never know the ripple effect that that will have on an individual. >> reporter: at this party, the outcome of the game was irrelevant. the object wasn't to win a bet, but to comfort the soul. for the first time since the pandemic, in the east bay, a gospel choir performed to a sold-out crowd tonight. betty yu is at the black history month celebration. >> reporter: people packed this performance venue in berkeley on sunday for a long- awaited black history month celebration. the sounds of the south could be heard in the east bay sunday night. the oakland interfaith choir performed at a nonprofit community arts organization.

isa chu has performed with the gospel choir for more than three years. >> gospel music definitely fires me up, and i have performed with this choir for a long time, because it is my creative outlet. i have been singing since i was a kid. but it is also a spiritual and social justice outlet. >> reporter: sunday's show was a history lesson, presenting a variety of gospel, from traditional to contemporary, with an authenticity not often find outside of the south. the experience is meant to be inclusive. >> the mere fact that i am asian-american, singing black gospel music, and standing next to someone who doesn't look like me and doesn't believe in what i believe in, we have different beliefs, but we are going to sing black gospel music together. >> reporter: sunday's audience reflected the diversity of the bay area.

sunset district as neighbors continue to try to pick up the pieces. >> the explosion destroyed one house and caused two adjacent homes to be read-tag. >> we spoke to a man who was right across the street when the house exploded. >> reporter: surveillance video shows albert standing next to a light pole in front of his home. he and his next-door neighbor were talking, when a house across the street blew up. >> all of a sudden, we just heard an explosion. then we saw the fire. >> reporter: the impact pushed him several feet away and took him a few seconds to regain his balance. he called 911. >> just to see the glass and the garage door, it was all over. >> reporter: the force of the explosion blew open the back door of this white pre-us. the driver appeared okay. the explosion also knocked out windows and doors of many homes on the 1700 block of 22nd

avenue. >> not a scratch on you? not a single scratch? how do you feel about that? >> lucky! that's all i can say, is lucky! nothing wrong. we didn't get hit by any glass or wood or anything. >> reporter: authorities say the explosion killed a disabled woman who lived in the house and gravely injured her caretaker. a man who lived in the house asked if his disabled wife made it out alive. he appeared in shock and was crying at one point. san francisco police could not confirm if this was the suspect. they say they arrested 53-year- old doerun price for manslaughter and manufacturing drugs in the house. police removed the tags and cylinders from what was left of the home and charged price with two counts of child endangerment. >> he is funny.

will be enough to keep his business and employees afloat in the meantime. >> we will not be able to open for a year. we do have another business, thank god. we own the santa cruz. so i'm going to move some of my employees to that location. i will not be able to move all of them to that location. >> boy, that was epic, wasn't it? looking back on it now. >> yes. it looks like a fairly decent week ahead, except for wind. first we have the wind, then light rain on valentine's day. then the cold air will start to settle in. let's go in order. first the wind. if we watch the high-resolution depiction, you see the screen. this is tomorrow afternoon. look at the time there. that is late afternoon, into the evening. these are northwesterly winds, or onshore winds. they will be felt first on the coast, then it will be strong in the mountains. it will be windy where the rest of us live, but thjority of

us do not have a wind advisory from this. the wind advisory is th. inclue city the city is included. >> so what is the peninsula coast in the north bay coast. >> so that goes until tuesday morning. it does mean that there is a wind chill. tomorrow the daytime high will be in the 60s but with the breeze it will feel noticeably cooler tomorrow than today, because today was warmer and relatively calm. the rain that comes in on tuesday, then we can see that coming straight from the north. this system brings in more cool air and a little more wind. that is tuesday, which is valentine's day. that gets us into late morning. in the north bay at that point, none of this is heavy and doesn't last long, but it will rain and we will get a 10th of an inch of rain out of this. it is in the south bay by early afternoon. by sunset it is done.

so your evening plans on valentine's day, you will not be rained on, but if you do something in the middle of the day, you have to plan on light showers. more than that, it is the cool and the breezy. a 10th of an inch will be about it. that's the first one. after that you can see the cold air that will pour down with the system. that means morning lows go down on wednesday. north bay valleys go down to 29. upper 30s today and tomorrow. 29 on wednesday, then the north bay is the extreme. what does that mean for everybody else? there is santa rosa at 29. everybody else, you can pick out one of your representative spots that comes closest to you. we are pretty much mid-30s for morning lows. okay. then there is another system that is going to bring us rain on friday. when we look at this on the big picture, we are going to see that one again come down directly from the north. the aim will be the determining factor on this one. it might mrs. on friday and stay off the coast! but it will probably come onshore. right now the models are arguing back and forth. one of them has the system standing over water, the other onhas not sure right now.

a southern california puppy is recovering after a close call after she jumped out of a busy car on the 101 freeway last month. it was all captured on video. we do need to warn you that some people might find this hard to watch. this is the moment that six- month-old sophie jumped out of the car on the freeway! my goodness. she narrowly missed that semi truck. owner ryan kramer says that she was in the front seat of his test lot when she suddenly leapt out for no apparent reason. eight weeks later, sophie is thriving. she did fractured her hip, but other than that she got a clean bill of health. >> i see her on the side, and fortunately a gentleman behind me had stopped also to put on his blinkers and kind of slowed down traffic and was helping sophie by the time i got over there. >> kramer says that she still can't believe that sophie is there today.

he also wants to caution dog owners to secure their dog in their car, because you never know what can happen. >> that is incredible that the dog survived that. since we are talking about highways, northbound 680 is shut down between sonoma and pleasanton tomorrow morning. there are details in place tonight. caltrans is repaving some sections because of potholes and general wear and tear. caltrans says that they are on schedule to reopen at 5:00 in the morning. >> we did finish the rebar right on schedule at 2:00 p.m., and we started pouring the concrete around 7:00 p.m. on saturday, right on schedule again, and we expect that to be done around 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. today. >> that is the northbound side of 680. the southbound side is not in great shape either, but there is no timetable on when that half gets a makeover. a recovery center is open for anyone recovering from the storms in san mateo county.

for films played with live orchestra. it features a classic score by ennio moricone. they will also feature the score from the disney film coco. well today was all about the chiefs and the eagles, but this was posted by a dog owner showing a dog barking at the tv and standing on their hind legs as the game played on the screen. this festival at the hiller aviation museum brought out kids and families. what are they doing? they are dropping foam football! they did this ever since super bowl l at levi's stadium. they did it today and a good time was had by all. it is a good thing those things are made out of foam.
