then that line will work across the bay area for everyone tonight. this is live on first alert doppler. you can see a organized line and then a lightning strike showing up in numbers off the coast. the futurecast sees it perfectly. we can forecast that forward and show you how it will march across the north bay. by midnight or maybe a little earlier, this is coming in faster than the forecast model, so right through the heart of the county in the next 30 minutes. then it gets down to the golden gate by 12:30 am. keep in mind, we will likely experience lightning and thunder along that line. it means you could be woken up in that three-hour window we have coming. by 2 am it is in the

south bay. that is the way it has been tracking. this will be the next few hours. this will be the most intense part of the next three days because we have a chance of rain for the next three days. we will talk about how it plays out for the middle of sunday and the early part of the week as well. snowplows clearing snow , it started coming down just after 10 am this morning and some were shocked. >> i have heard of snow happening here before but that is way up at the peak. i have never seen snow this low in elevation. >> snow is forecast to continue falling at around 2000 feet. mount hamilton is buried in snow, the astronomers said they are finally able to get gas for the general generators

only going as far as nyack. only a select few getting the green light to go eastbound on i 80 after multiple spin outs in the snow shut it down saturday afternoon. >> trying to go home, obviously we are stuck. we have been here for the last three hours. >> reporter: people like miguel is trying to get his family home to reno but will likely have to wait it out overnight. this was not the snow trip most families had planned. >> we were supposed to go to reno. it looks cool. >> we have been stuck for four hours already. >> reporter: many taking a break for snowball fights and sledding as thousands have been without power for nearly a

away. authorities are looking for her, a white shirt and black innings. people are hospitalized after a shooting near los angeles, police are looking for a shooter they say drove away in a gray sedan. one of the victims is 15 and two others are in serious condition. hackers got into the network february and they have been holding stolen files hostage for a month. that has led to delays in malfunctions with city services. some local business owners have been unable to pay taxes. they are trying to figure out how to avoid late fees. >> we have a lot on our plate and now t maneuver through this going on.

crushing snow in the mountains of southern california has left many trapped in their homes. here is a look at the trees and downed power lines in residential areas in the mountains. the national guard is going door to door shoveling snow. they say it could take a week to reach everyone. >> women are stuck at home with the children. >> i spoke to a lady yesterday, she has been sleeping on the floor of her kitchen with her

wednesday. this line will get your attention. that is done by sunrise. we are done by then and then we get into a quiet pattern. plenty of breaks of blue sky tomorrow. more time on sunday follows you can see the scattered showers that are on here . that is the way sunday will go, very different from what is about to move through. on monday the action will pick up. there will be a few more showers, more organization, maybe more intensity. a few more snow flurries. monday evening we are still experiencing the same system. getting snow down to about 2000 feet in the north bay. maybe a little bit lower. some of the communities in clearlake may see more snow. for the rest of the bay it is just a light

dusting on the higher beauty peaks. it goes through wednesday. there is a winter weather advisory in effect until tomorrow afternoon. the national weather service may have to extend that. we are seeing's snow falling . nowhere near as much as two weeks ago but we will get a dusting. it is a significant storm in the sierra. all of the photos we have shown you in the newscast, we are about to get this year to be on track as the most snow on record. the winter of 82-83 hold that title at this point. if this winter keeps going into march, we may get that designation. it has been historic already.

build tree houses with their kids but in minnesota, one dad decided to go big. brian anderson the first started making snow igloos a couple of years ago. this year's project was a huge five foot tall 30 foot wide snow fort. >> we have 10 rooms and two hallways. we have windows in each room into the hallways. we have two different slides and each kid has their own room with a window. >> the dad says the best thing about the snow fort is it helps bring all of the neighborhood kids together. >> it looks warm. >> could we do that here? >> we could in the sierra, they have her concerns though. they have more than enough material.
