from cbs news be area, this is the evening edition. >> at 11:00, a brief break from the rain come was on the way, got you covered as the next storm aims the bay area. a levy breach of floods a small town, forcing residents out of their homes. >> frustrated, i wish i could do more for other people who need help. federal regulators try to figure out the next steps for silicon valley bank after their collapse, starting to hear from some smaller depositors caught up in the mess. we had a brief break in the rain but another system is on its way. crews were out all day across the bay area using the break to try to get some crucial repair work done, including at the historic trocadero clubhouse and sam cisco, a massive tree fell during the storms, causing extensive damage.

a big chunk for lot of highway 84 near skyline the, working on a fix. crews managed to get main street reopened today after it was washed out earlier this week. of the same time a small monterey county town is underwater after a levy broke at the river, thousands evacuated from a nearby small town after a 100 foot cash open in a levy weekend by months of rain. looking for anyone caught up by the flood, checking submerged vehicles along flooded streets.>> telling us there is a parameter set up to keep residents out of the danger zone. >> all of the access routes for the community are either shut down or flooded. only first responders can cross the bridge to conduct search and rescue operations. >> reporter: entire farming community under feet of water, drone footage shows widespread flooding, streets and cars and

homes and businesses and schools submerged. authorities say it is caused by levy breach, three miles east.>> for the residents. time to evacuate. water is coming. >> reporter: started evacuating people late friday night. firefighters announced the evacuation order in spanish, since a majority of the roughly 1700 residents are's tennis speaking farmworkers. >> bilingual workers were who were also going door-to-door to get people out. >> if you start to cry little bit, the little siblings to into pray. >> reporter: 18-year-old christian garcia and his family were sleeping when large fire trucks will them up.>> did not feel real, sirens and everything, everything in a rush. >> reporter: his family and his uncles family live in one house, they packed up quickly and left. >> chaotic and sad.

at least my family is safe now. >> reporter: monterey county officials say the levy broke around midnight, they see the breach was around 100 feet wide. some residents could not get out it's hot in time, national guard soldiers rescued dozens of people including this person trapped in a car. first responders rescued a woman in a little girl in a car that appeared to have been pushed off the road by floodwaters. search and rescue workers used boats to look for stranded residents. many streets are under at least two or 3 feet of water. >> it was like shopping, i've never seen that. never seen that, it was sad at the same time. >> reporter: christian and his uncle went to check on the home, this is their street, everything is destroyed. >> the plants inthflr, everything is destroyed. >> reporter: his former school. >> the community is sad right

now watching everything go like that. >> reporter: christian isaacs families are staying at a local shelter, given the extent of the damage they say could take months to rebuild. >> expecting a lot of rain and it's going to get worse. hopefully the city can help out with that too, new furniture and flooring. >> reporter: we don't know if anybody is still trapped but we know a lot of first responders are working in searching for people who need help. many of the evacuees found shelter at the santa cruz county fairgrounds, some expect to be out of their homes for at least two weeks, close and blankets and other essential items are available at the shelter. >> the frustration, confused, mainly because i want to make sure my family is safe. i lost everything on 95. this would be my second time in the shelter since then.>> residents are breaking bracing for what is to come as more rain is expected in the coming

days. taking you live look at the conditions across the bay area, light rain coming down. let's get to darren peck for the first alert forecast.>> a real focus in the forecast, a storm that is coming our way by the time we get to monday night, monday night into tuesday morning. clearly the headline. before we get there, a few showers to look at tomorrow morning. a few will drift on by the time we get to tomorrow at the one clock hour, a few hours away, a few more as we get to sunrise tomorrow. then it is going to be more off than on for the remainder of sunday. a few showers here and there. we are going to do the comparison between what we've got for sunday and monday morning, and what is coming on monday night. into tuesday morning. you're going to see the difference. that is the storm being driven in by the next atmospheric river, we've already got a flood watch because of this, i will talk about the timing and

days. that is a pretty large group of people that we are not seeing walk through here.>> reporter: working in the rain has been no picnic either, at the marshall's farm honey stand, he says the canopy has not been much help during some of the recent storms. >> when it comes sideways we get rained on and believe me we can get really wet, it ruins the labels and all of the boxes get so, everything falls out of the bottom. there are all kinds of problems, no fun working in the rain. >> a beautiful day to ride. >> the pedicab drivers would be out of business in the driving rain, most have protective canopies to keep things dry, and they say the tips are better when the riders feel sorry for you. >> the rain gear and i get a little bit wet, i don't mind though, people might be a little bit extra sweeter to you,

and that is a little bit scary, i'm freaking out. >> reporter: serving some major companies like roku, pinterest, chapa phi and at sea, warning sellers that some deposits may be delayed. >> i run a small business and do it for my home. those funds feed my family and pay my bills. >> reporter: issuing a statement saturday about the fallout, saying he has been in touch with the white house about the matter and federal regulators are working to protect people's jobs, livelihoods and the economy. silicon valley bank is headquartered in congressman rochon is district, he says the collapse will affect thousands of constituents. releasing a statement saying he made a strong case to the treasury and white house, that the best case scenario is a buyer so depositors are made whole, they get paid and state employed, clients don't disrupt services. >> what happens when tens of thousands of companies can't
