after more than two dozen people were killed in a tornado outbreak in mississippi. the severe weather leveling homes, businesses, and up-ended people's lives. now the satellite images show the devastation in rolling fork, mississippi, after a tornado ripped through there friday night. let's get right to cristian benevides who is there for us in the hard-hit town with the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. this powerful tornado wiped out thousands of homes leaving behind a field of debris, and for the communities that are most affected like this one, a long road to recovery. cleanup is under way in lagrange, georgia. tornadoes tore through yesterday. large hail and flash flooding swept through parts of the state. >> we're mking sure citizens are taken care of. >> reporter: earlier deadly tornadoes left a path of destruction stretching over 150 miles. >> god saved my life.

>> reporter: while surveying what's left of his home, rolling fork, mississippi, city council member undray williams described what it felt like inside the roar of the storm. >> i was able to grab it and pull it down over my head so the rain and the lightning wouldn't strike me. and facilities later it was over -- affiliates later it was over. >> reporter: this video captured strong winds ripping through a mississippi high school. fema says more than 2,000 homes in rolling fork, mississippi, were either damaged or destroyed by the storm. yesterday president biden approved a disaster declaration authorizing federal funding for some of the state's hardest hit counties. the secretary of homeland security and fema officials toured the damage in rolling fork yesterday with the state's governor. >> the president has directed us to be here to assist the people of mississippi. >> reporter: volunteers offering food, water, and supplies are also on the ground.

>> i knew that there was going to be help needed, so i got in and drove here. >> reporter: the white house says more federal aid could be added as damage assessments continue. the preliminary rating of that tornado an ef4. that means the wind gusts were between 166 to 200 miles per hour. >> wow. cristian benevides in mississippi, thank you. philadelphia officials say that the city's drinking water is safe for now after a chemical spill in the delaware river. thousands of gallons of latex solution leaked into the river from a chemical plant in neighboring bucks county friday night. philadelphia residents rushed to buy bottled water yesterday after an alert was issued telling people not to use tap water. >> there is a chemical, two chemicals, and butyl in particular is a chemical that was identified in the spill at east palestine.

>> later officials said that they did not find any contamination and the water is safe to drink at least through tonight. four more people were found dead after a powerful explosion at a chocolate factory in pennsylvania raising the death toll to seven. friday's blast in west reading destroyed the factori. three other buildings around the site have since been condemned, and at least ten people were hurt. officials say everyone has been accounted for after combing through the rubble. >> in the beginning, we used heat imaging devices, drones. now we are using heavy equipment to methodically pull debris away from the site. >> there is no word on the cause of the explosion. and the grand jury weighing charges in the hush-money probe against donald trump reconvenes today.

this as the former president hit the campaign trail over the weekend. during his first 2024 election rally in waco, texas, he called the investigations into him a, quote, witch hunt. nikole killion reports from washington. they're not coming after me, they're coming after you. >> reporter: former president trump used his first official campaign rally in waco, texas, to denounce the legal threats against him. >> people see it's [ bleep ], and they go and say -- [ cheers ] -- unfair. >> reporter: the former president steered clear of directly referencing manhattan district attorney alvin bragg despite labeling him an animal and talking about death and destruction if he's charged. >> i think that was an ill-advised post. >> reporter: his attorney, joe tacopina, maintained his client's issue in relation to hush-money payments to stormy daniels and said trump's inaccurate prediction that he would be arrested last tuesday was t >> we've been in touch with the district attorney's office regarding potential logistics of

minister benjamin netanyahu abruptly fired the country's defense minister. [ chants ] police used water cannons last night on demonstrators who gathered outside netanyahu's home in jerusalem. the defense minister was fired a day after saying netanyahu's controversial plan to overhaul the country's judicial system is a security threat. this morning israel's president urged netanyahu to immediately stop the changes. ukraine is calling for an emergency meeting of the u.n. security council after russian president vladimir putin revealed plans to put tactical nuclear weapons in belarus. over the weekend, putin said that he would be able to put nukes in belarus by the summer. nato called it dangerous and irresponsible. american officials say that they've seen no effort by russia to move its nuclear weapons.

"the sacramento bee" reports two people were shot and wounded at a sikh temple. authorities say it happened yesterday during a neighborhood celebration for indian religions. the sacramento county sheriff's office says two men fired shots after a fight broke out. two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. both suspects have been taken into custody. "usa today" says a minnesota man allegedly stabbed his wife to death during a bible study at a relative's house. st. paul police say 40-year-old robert castillo repeatedly stabbed his wife, 41-year-old corrina woodhull, last week. he was charged with second-degree murder. the founder of the bible study said he was an important part group and offered her own words when she first joined a few years ago. >> god has restored my life from the ground up into freedom, redemption, and forgiveness. made depression into hope, made

silicon valley bank has a new owner. the fdic says first citizens will acquire large pieces of the california lender that collapsed earlier this month. silicon valley bank was the country's 16th largest bank. its 17 branches are expected to reopen today under the first citizens umbrella with customers automatically transferring over. elon musk paid more for twitter than what it's worth now, and is blockbuster making a comeback? matt pieper has your cbs "money watch" report. >> reporter: stocks closed higher on friday marking the end of a tumultuous week as federal reserve officials calmed investor fears over a potential liquidity crisis in the banking sector. the dow gained 132. the nasdaq was up 36. the s&p 500 taking in 22. recent u.s. bank failures

will be the front and center topic as federal regulators are being called to testify before the house financial services committee tomorrow. lawmakers say they want a review of what happened at silicon valley bank and signature bank earlier this month as they look to prevent it from happening again. federal reserve chair jerome powell last week called the financial sector sound and resilient. $20 billion, that is how much twitter ceo elon musk values the company at today. that is quite a drop from the $44 billion he paid to buy the network in october. the number was in an email he sent to employees while also announcing a new stock compensation program for them. musk also said recent mass layoffs were necessary to avoid bankruptcy. is blockbuster about to have a blockbuster moment? there's a message when you visit the company's website that simply says "we are working on rewinding your movie." the company ceased most of its operations in 2014, but the cryptic message has a lot of people wondering what's really cooking. there is one last remaining
