good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. there is horror and heart break for a nashville community this morning. the scene of our country's latest deadly school shooting. investigators are combing for clues after a shooter opened fire at a christian elementary school yesterday. six people were killed including three 9-year-old students and three adults. overnight police released chilling surveillance video of the shooter. cristian benavides is in nashville with the latest on all of this. cristian, good morning. >> reporter: anne-marie, officials releasing that disturbing video showing the shooter outside and inside the school as we're learning more about the victims. a nashville church held a prayer vigil last night to comfort a city in mourning after yesterday's shooting at a christian elementary school. >> i was hoping this day would never, ever come here in this city. >> reporter: newly released surveillance video shows the moments the suspect identified as 28-year-old former student audrey hale shot through the side doors around entered the

covenant school. within minutes law enforcement responded. police say two officers pictured here shot and killed the suspect on the second floor of the school. >> even in a remarkably fast response, there was not enough time. >> reporter: among the dead are three students, all just 9 years old, identified as evelyn dieckhaus, hallie scruggs, and william kinney. al sow three adults, custodian mike hill, student teacher cynthia peak, and katherine coonce. >> i'm so sad for the families impacted by this and their children. >> reporter: police say this was a planned and targeted attack and that the suspect had detailed maps drawn out of the school surveillance and entry points. >> it's heartbreaking to see it happen right here in our hometown. >> reporter: a growing make shift memorial of teddy bears and flowers now sits outside of the school. nashville's police chief said the suspect was armed with three

weapon, an assault-style rifle, an assault-style pistol, and a handgun. law enforcement believes two of the weapons were obtained legally. this community now leaning on each other and in prayer during this difficult time. anne-marie? >> i can only imagine, cristian. cristian benavides in nashville. thank you. cleanup efforts are underway in the south after deadly tornados. it dropped golf ball-sized hail. the death toll in mississippi was revised down to 21 by local emergency officials. in west point, georgia, at least 100 homes were left flattened. alabama was also hit hard. folks in mississippi have been cleaning up for days after a powerful ef-4 tornado tore through the town of rolling rock friday night. >> it was chaos. everything was flattened, and you'd just hear screaming of this one's name and that one's

name, and these are people y kne and you don't know where they are. >> the tornado was the most powerful to hit mississippi in three years. it left a 59-mile-long path of destruction through multiple counties and was on the ground for over an hour. overseas now, political unrest threatens to engulf israel. conservative prime minister benjamin netanyahu announcing a delay in his plan to overhaul the country's legal system. imtiaz tyab reports from tel aviv. >> reporter: the general strike that shut down much of israel has been called off by nationwide protests that reached a crescendo in the last 24 hours are set to continue even though benjamin netanyahu promised to press pause on the bitterly contested judicial overhaul. >> i will continue protesting until these reforms are completely dropped because this isn't a set of reforms. this is a coup. >> reporter: the far right counterprotesters called to the streets by netanyahu are also

defiant. i'm in favor of reform, this man says, because i want equality for people like me and not have arrogant people above us. if passed it would allow a simple majority of lawmakers to override almost any supreme court ruling and let politicians appoint justices, something that would devastate israel's democracy, says opponents. the 12 weeks of unprecedented mass unrest escalated on sunday night after netanyahu fired the defense minister, a move which saw the long simmering divisions in israeli erupt even further including outside netanyahu's own residence. protesters are largely divided into two groups. those who want a secular pluralist state and those who want a more religious and nationalist country. also groking with sparking concerns is an army of reservists vowing to strike if

the reforms go ahead with the military leaders saying their operational readiness could seriously be impacted. the biden administration is welcoming this pause in judicial reform, but senior officials in the netanyahu government are vowing it will pass. imtiaz tyab, cbs news, tel aviv. well, back home, the new york city grand jury investigating former president donald trump's role in hush money payments made to an adult film star met on monday. yesterday the former publisher of the "national enquirer" david pecker testified for a second time. in 2016 pecker played a key role in connects then trump lawyer michael cohen with an attorney for stormy daniels. cohen paid daniels $130,000 in had an affair with trump. trump has denied the affair and any wrongdoing. well, senator rand paul says a member of his congressional staff was attacked in washington, dc, over the weekend. a suspect was arrested. a 42-year-old man was taken into

custody and charged with assault with intent to kill in connection with saturday's stabbing. the victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. there's no word on a motive. officials in philadelphia say the tap water is safe to drink at least through this afternoon. crews were on the scene of a chemical spill in the delaware river yesterday. a latex finishing solution spilled into the water. it's being linked to an equipment failure at a nearby plant. the philadelphia water department is testing the water around the clock. >> we have over 2,000 employees who every day focus to make sure that the water that we give you is safe. again, i'm promising we've tested the river, the basin, the plants. all of the tests so far have been negative. >> officials said the contamination threat should pass by wednesday night or thursday. they say testing will continue into next week. and coming up, flying on a freeway. a car goes airborne during a

"the new york times" reports on the conflicting testimony in the civil ski trial involving gwyneth paltrow. last week the oscar winner testified that terry sanderson crashed into her at a utah ski resort in 2016. sanderson is suing paltrow for $300,000 claiming she recklessly exceed into him, breaking his ribs and leaving him with lasting brain injuries. the now 76-year-old testified yesterday. >> you know, i got hit in my back so hard, and the fists and the poles were right there at the bottom of my shoulder blades. serious, serious smack. i have never been hit that hard. and i'm flying. i'm absolutely flying. >> paltrow said sanderson is exaggerator his injuries and looking to exploit her wealth.
