republic bank, and support is growing for a bullet train between las vegas and southern california. shanelle kaul has those stories and more in today's "moneywatch" report. stocks closed mixed monday. the dow gained 66 points, the nasdaq lost 35 points, and the s&p 500 was up 3 points. disney is laying off thousands of workers across the country this week. the latest and largest wave of cuts will impact espn, disney parks, and its experiences and products division. the plan to slash 7,000 jobs was announced by disney back in february. the company's ceo said it would save $5.5 billion. customers at first republic bank pulled more than $100 billion in deposits during last month's crisis. the san francisco-based bank said larger banks stepped in to save it with $30 billion in uninsured deposits. the bank shares tumbled monday as investors remain concerned about its stability.
