i'm anne-marie green. li lit t video with vehicles crashing into each other. it causes as many as 60 cars and multiple tractor trailers to collide with some starting fires. >> reporter: a deadly two-way pileup on afternoon illinois interstate yesterday after a duststorm made it almost impossible for drivers to nash gate the road. >> the conditions have to be just right to have a situation like this. >> reporter: the rare thick dust storm is believed to be the result of excessive winds blowing dirt from nearby farm fields. two semi-s caught fire adding thick smoke to the brownout conditions. it's like putting a blanket in front of your windshield. you couldn't see nothing.

for the first time in 15 years and it comes after the writers gild of america failed to reach an agreement on a new contract with studios and producers. television and maneuver productions are expected to come to a halt including late night talk shows. writers are demanding higher pay, residual payments and changing to industry practices as more streaming content is produced. the last writer strike was in 2007, lasted 100 days, and cost the economy more than $2 billion. a dire warning from the u.s. secretary as the u.s. inches closer and closer to not being able to pay its debt. now president biden is reaching across the aisle to try to ease the debt ceiling standoff. treasury secretary janet yellen says they could reach the top by june 1st.

system. that's why we have fdic insurance. >> reporter: the fdic is now recommending congress overhaul the congress insurance program to increase coverage for certain business accounts. nicole de-antonio, cbs news, washington. a federal judge has denied a motion by donald trump's attorney to declare a mistrial in a civil lawsuit brought against him by former magazine columnist e. jean carroll. carroll claims trump raped her in a new york city dressing room in the 1990s and says he defamed her when she went public with the story in 2019. yesterday she said she did not report the alleged rape to the police because she was ashamed. trump has denied the allegations. overseas russia fired missiles across to ukraine in the second largest attack in three days.
