the last of the rain. paul heggen is tracking the storm an what we can expect for tomorrow morning's commute. >> it looks like it will be wet so extra time out the door once you are on the roads. extra stopping distance is never a ba idea. let's take a look at what is happening out there right now. the next batch of rain is sliding up from the south as we speak and has been moving into san francisco . let's assume in for a closer look. we are talking about moderate rainfall rates. it is a little bit over emphasize, but considering it i the month of may where we don' see much rain, it is kind of remarkable that we are seeing this much moisture from the south. it is not going to be enough to cause a flooding threat but will be inconvenient

for the morning commute. there is more rain falling into the santa cruz mountains. san jose, a lot of the rain is getting hung up in the santa cruz mountains due to the rain shado effect in the santa clara valley. moisture surging up fro the south will eventually climb a little bit north of the golde gate. let's switch over to futurecast for the rest of tonight. we will see the rain sticking around, especially closer to the coast. inland parts of the east bay, you will see later amounts of this particular batch of rain. it will continue with an off and o pattern as we continue into the afternoon, but still a decent chance of at least some additional rain across the bay area. we added up with a look a futurecast and we take you through this particular storm system coming up in a few minutes, but again, it is going to be very wet and dry. >> thank you so much. let's get our other big story tonight. we are talking about steph curry and lebron james facing off at chase center for their first postseason match since 2018. th dubs had a late run on the lakers in the fourth but they could not overcome the gap and fell for game one. curry made history as the first player to

a string of stabbings at night in the city of davis has the uc campus on high alert tonight. the chancellor is taking safety precautions by ordering all classes after 6:00 p.m. to be held remotely. reporter steve large with an update on the search for the killer. >> reporter: extra detectives combing the city of davis tryin to identify if three heinous stabbing attacks are the work o a single suspect. investigators are collecting evidence from a third stabbing in five days. th

victim here is the lone survivor. >> the attacks with knives were particularly brutal and violent >> reporter: davis police chief describe the unique nature of these attacks. >> these were not stabbings where a person would normally b a victim of a robbery or something like that. there were many very significant knife wounds. >> reporter: officers had converged on the davis police department in an effort to help solve the crimes, including the fbi. retired fbi supervisory agent kevin baker said that knife attacks can give investigators more clues to wor with in some cases because of the violent nature of stabbings suspects often leave unintended clues behind. >> things can fall out of your pockets and fall off you. fiber can come off your body. hairs

retrograde. it is moving to the west instead of the usual direction with everything movin from left to right across thmeans it ise to semoremotur bay area that is moving in righ now, but eventually it will stall out again and get a littl kick to the east. that will happen over the next 36 hours o so. here is the latest batch of moisture indicating moderate to localized rainfall but no significant flooding even as this latest batch of rain moves in. let's switch to futurecast as we head through the next couple of days. you will see widespread light to moderate rain for the morning commute. does not necessarily mean it will rain everywhere, but i would count on splashing throug plenty of puddles on your way t work tomorrow morning and as much time as you can allow yourself. it will probably benefit you. showers are going to taper off to more of an off and on pattern. that will continue through the afternoon. again, not going to rain everywhere all the time, but keep the umbrella and the rain jacket handy. as the storm

system drifts further down to our self, it eventually moves inland and it is going to lose the inflow over the bay area. the rain chances will be much fuel and far between and we should be drying out entirely b the time we hit the end of the workweek on friday. how much additional rain on top of what we already picked up? anywhere from a few hundredths of an inc to potentially around a half-inch of additional rain on the upper end of things. again, take the specific numbers in this city with a big grain of salt. this is one of these patterns that is hard to pin down the exact amounts because it is not well organized, but still, we are talking about mor rain in the month of may. that is far from ordinary. temperatures tonight dropping down by a few degrees. high temperatures tomorrow are stil on the cool side, only mid-to-upper 50s on the coasts, low 60s for the rest of the bay

area. the warmest spots are barely going to climb into the upper half of the 60s, and we are supposed to be well into th mid-70s for inland parts of the bay area. we are going to be close to 10 degrees below that with a rather unseasonably cool day. the cool weather will continue in the seven-day forecast, even once the forecas dries out, which will happen by friday and over the weekend. temperatures will still be well below average through the weekend with a bit more of a warm-up monday and tuesday. it will be more noticeable further inland, but even there temperatures have to struggle t get up into the upper 60s to around 70 degrees by monday and tuesday of next week. it is a really long range timeframe beyond the seven-day forecast, morro bay 10 to 14 day outlook that shows a return to near average temperatures especially for inland parts of the bay are , but along the coast you are locked into the 50s for the nex several days. once again, umbrella, rain jacket are usefu accessories >> one more day, thank you! contract talks between the teachers union and oakland unified school district are still ongoing. thousands of teachers will hit the picket line on thursday . if they don' reach an agreement for better
