where negotiations stand tonight. . hello i'm sara donchey. oh, there is nothing like finding out your kid doesn't have schoo at the last minute. almost every parent dealt with that fo some reason or another. that i what families are dealing with as teachers officially have gon on strike. schools were still open. it was not business as usual on day 1 of strike. parents had to decide to send their kids to school, keep them at home or do something entirel different. one teacher had onl eight students show up. someon else tweeted, i was one of the parents on the picket line in

2019, then i pulled my kids in the fall of 2020 when it was obviously kids were not top priority. clearly i made the right decision. the teachers union has allowed the state superintendent to mediate negotiations, better pay is one but they want more services for their kids, their services like housing for kids that need it and hoar mental health support. parents are left to figure out what to do. >>. >> reporter: what about families, how are they handling it? >> reporter: we went out in the community see what parents are doing, students are doing. i met up with a mother and daughter. the mom works for a nonprofit, it is a nonprofit, she serves food to families in that area. she brought her

up with ideas. >> people are getting creative. >> thank you very much. well, there is growing outrage and calls for justice after the calls for death for 24-year-old brown, brown was shot and killed by a private security guard outside of walgreens on market street in san francisco after allegedly shoplifting $14 worth of candy. tonight, a demonstration right outside of that walgreens. the da announced they will not file charges against that security guard. here you can see the entrance of westfield mall. it was blocked off. the story of his killing and the calls for justice reached all of the way to los angeles. tonight, a group of people protested outside of a walgreens in the heart of hollywood. a manhunt for a serial stabbing suspect in davis has ended with the police arresting

a former u.c. davis student the suspect did not show remorse during questioning. he went to the college up until about a week ago. the university said he left for academic reasons. h used to live in oakland. the police first took him into custody yesterday as a person o interest while after searching his home they officially arrested him. he allegedly stabbed and killed a student in a local park. the police found a large knife in his backpack that made have been used to kil another person. a 50-year-old man last week. the third stabbing victim, a 64-year-old homeless woman is expected to survive. as of right now we still don't know a motive for the killings. the point guard, now, goin to peyton. >> all right, to sports now. th warriors felt embarrassment for dropping against the warriors o

then a dry sunday with one more chance of showers sunday night into monday. track it with future cast. dry tonight, mayb enough for mist, drizzle to begin the day on friday. no actual shower activity until late tomorrow afternoon. the first shower is not hitting the coast in the north bay until 3:00, 4:00. the best chance of rain for the evening, north of the gate. then it drops to the rest of the bay area tomorrow night into early saturday morning, similar to what we hav seen all week. locally heavy downpours, does not last long enough and not heavy enough to lead to flooding threat. unsettled through midday on saturday. i would still be flexible with outdoor plans saturday afternoon just to be o the safe side. alternative in mind just in case. it does loo like we are going to catch a bi of a break from the rain chance saturday afternoon. let's add u the next wave of rain. not substantial but that it is earl may. any rain is. few/100th of an inch of rain to maybe a quarter of an inch, high end of

things it will not be high impact event other than adjusting to anything you want to get done outside on saturday lower to middle 50s. 49 in santa rosa, there the fog, low cloud cover. we will dip a few more degrees into the upper 40s by early tomorrow morning, high tomorrow, still way below average, that is the trend through the weekend into early next week as long as the unsettled pattern is here. middle to upper 50s on the coas to mostly middle to upper 60s farther inland. tail end of the forecast. a three day stretch of dry weather, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, more and more sunshine each day. breakin out of the pattern, gradually warmer temperatures, especially away from the water, the temperatures will be back to pretty close to average by thursday. it is a week away. th signs are promising that maybe we will warm things up even mor as we finish off the workweek and head into next weekend. tha is beyond the scope of the seven-day forecast. some of the long-range data is hinting
