killing of jasper has reportedly been exonerated, according to the chronicle, the judge cleared johnny jackson junior in the case, believing he acted in self-defense in the shooting of 2-year-old jasper. he was hit by a stray bullet while riding in a car on 880 back in 2001. the chronicle reporting the two other men are still heading to trial to face murder charges. governor gavin newsom was in contra costa county today to lay out his plan for more clean energy. >> it moves beyond just wind and solar, battery storage is foundation. pump storage is foundational, marine hydration is foundational, all of these efforts to provide that reliability to provide that security, that people need to know in terms of advancing this transition. and to provide a blueprint, yes, a roadmap for the rest of the nation. >> this is all in an attempt

arrival area of the airport. a lot of people might be feeling the pinch of vacation inflation, the cost to get away is getting higher and higher . in april, airfare jumped 2.7% from march, while it is down slightly from last summer, it is 10% higher than before the pandemic. hotels are up 3.5% from last year and 15% from 2019. car rentals will likely be cheaper this summer, down 11% from last year but today remain 51% higher than 4 years ago. >> how much more did you spend, you think? >> i would say almost double. >> probably another $2000 more. >> vacation inflation is huge this summer, we are seeing high demand with travel and high prices. >> 35% of travelers told nerd wallet they opted to drive instead of flying to save money

with gas prices more than one dollar lower than last year. and the cost to do things when you are on vacation is up as well, food away from home jumped 9% from last year and 24% since 2019. movies and concerts will cost you about 7% more than last year. as millions of people go to the airport this weekend for the start of the summer travel season, lyft is coming out with a new feature, customers can preorder as soon as their plane lands. they will match orders for the best pickup time, taking into account everything from the walk to the airport to waiting at the baggage claim. >> you watch people at the baggage claim and they are stressed about their baggage is, all they want to do is get out. so we try to make it so that with our technology, by the time you get to the curb you are walking off the property. >> i love the idea, the feature

as we celebrate asian-american and pacific islander heritage month, we tell you to el camino real as this flower shop is celebrating its 90th birthday this year. we visited the matriarch and learned about the business that started at the height of the depression.

the carnival on sunday, looking pretty decent. >> yes, a big festival going on , beginning already tomorrow, the weather is going to be cooperating, a little bit on the cool side. not really feeling like the unofficial beginning of summer, although it is fairly cool to begin with in san francisco. at least we have a little bit of sunshine finally breaking through along the bay. here's what to expect for the next several days. very small changes on a day-to-day basis, just a consistent weather pattern overall, we will have sunshine inland but remaining gray at the coast for the next several days. the high temperatures are going to be below normal through the weekend and into next week. a cool holiday weekend overall, especially as you get further away from the water, where the temperatures are going to be in the 70s. looking outside right now from mount diablo, not as hazy as the past couple of days. temperatures are mostly in the 60s, only 60 on the nose right now in san francisco, only 70

degrees in livermore. usually this time of year we should see those temperatures approaching 80 degrees, nowhere close right now. here's that air quality, not the official census from the epa but, mostly good air quality conditions, the haze on the horizon has cleared out a little bit, that is the result of bad air quality, not what you want to see as you look out into the distance. tomorrow we will have some locally dense fog as the marine gets compressed just a little bit, so the cloud cover is going to spread some of that fog , more dense at ground level, but it will back up to the coast, still reduce visibility for san francisco as we head into the late morning but that should improve as we go towards lunch time. again, along the coast, ground level visibility should improve, but you will still have gray skies sticking around overhead. temperatures in the 50s for tomorrow morning. the high temperatures tomorrow are still

going to be running below normal, about five degrees below average around the bay, and 5 to 10 degrees below normal further inland. that is a cool pattern for late may. just barely topping 70 degrees into the santa clara valley. a lot of 60s in the east bay, the tri-valley around 70 degrees and barely into the low 70s for the warmest spots around antioch and brentwood. cool temperatures for the north bay as well, mostly in the mid to upper 60s, until you go very far up north , temperatures in the mid-70s. 7-day forecast, not much of a change. it is going to be a cool parade , make sure you layer up appropriately, temperatures are going to stay below average through the duration of the sel t, coistency, mid to upper 50s , around 60 degrees,

pre-score are bridge builders all around the world, the volunteers help remote international peace and friendship, and joining the group might be an option for graduates who are still deciding their next steps. some bay area colleges are actually the top producers. >> the bay area had three top producing schools for the peace corps, stanford at number 21, san francisco state at number 20 it. anda garvey is a uc berkeley graduate, class of 1980 and one of the newest members of the peace corps. >> >> she said the value she took away has carried her through her life and a part of why now as a comfortable senior citizen in lafayette, she's going to a remote village in south africa to teach children english as a second language.

>> i thought, am i too old to do this? i'm 65, it's about wanting to stay active and still help others. >> many other graduates have felt the same way, the school is the all-time top provider to this peace corps, with thousands of volunteers followed by the university of wisconsin and the university of washington. >> uc berkeley has always been on the forefront of social activism. >> carrie carmichael is a former peace corps volunteer in ecuador and the lead recruiter on campus. >> the ethic that the students have about wanting to make a difference here in berkeley and in the bay area, but also more globally. >> i have signed an executive order providing for the establishment of a peace corps on a temporary basis . >> it was founded by president educional, tecal antrvelocos ro

breaking news in alameda county, all westbound lanes of 580 are closed right now because of a crash, this is just east of teller avenue. right now, no estimated time of reopening. again, this is 580 westbound, we are going to give you updates as we get them this afternoon. before we go, we have an adorable reunion to share with you, new video of a sea otter reunited with its mother near santa cruz. the mother immediately responded to the sounds, you can hear him . and she reclaimed her baby. this happened last week. they first try to reunite them from the shore but that did not work , but they were more successful this way. santa cruz harbor patrol got a boat ready, they went to work, there's only about 3000 southern sea otters
